5 The good news is that this lenses bokeh is really quite smooth. certainly far better than its inexpensive smaller brother Sigma's 10 to 20 millimeter F/4 25.6 lens. Overall, this more expensive Sigma lens yield some punchy images, and the maximum aperture of F 3

 It's one of the more expensive lenses in this market segment, costing about 400 pounds or 560 US dollars, but it ought to be a really nice product. Ultra wide-angle lenses are fun to use and handy. This lenses zoom range ends at 20 millimeter, which is quite a wide angle, but zooms all the way out to 10 millimeter, which is very wide indeed. the full-frame equivalent of 16 millimeter that's wide enough for getting huge landscape vistas, as well as capturing the whole image

 The middle of its images are great, but those corners really are important on any wide-angle lens, and they just turned out to be a bit poor in this case. Well, let's move on and look at distortion and vignette ink. At 10 millimeter, we see some pretty notable barrel distortion, which is another disappointment. I Hate barrel distortion

 I also brought a 50mm, 17-200mm, and a 28-70mm. On my 7d, the shots were pretty clear with no huge issues in quality toward the outside of the photos. Wide angled photos do have some blurring, but this lens wasn't any worse than anything else in the category. For the price, it's great, but it's plastic, and mine broke (kind-of)

I bought this lens for a trip to Hawaii, and got all of the great shots I could ask for. In fact, I used this lens the most out of the four I brought. I also brought a 50mm, 17-200mm, and a 28-70mm. Fast & Sharp, but not what I need (AF "clanky")

 This is much much better than the like than the 17 to 50 in terms of autofocus noise, but it's still not as good as some of the nicer Canon lenses. Now in terms of other things like you know, chromatic aberrations, sharpness, things like that, I will say this lens is really, really sharp. I'm actually very impressed by it. Now, I'm not the kind of guy to like Pixel Peep or you know, look super close in the corners

 I should say. So basically at the end of the day what it really comes down to is your budget. If you are kind of looking for a lens, you know, for like two thousand dollar lens. Obviously, you're not going to be looking at this and obviously you're going to be expecting much

Using a Sigma 10-20mm f3.5 in 2022

 This lens opens up to 10mm which makes shots that were not previously possible, possible. What's nice about this one is that it's constant aperture. The f stop of 3.5 is pretty decent, since you can shot at much lower shutter speeds because of the wideness of the lens

Each lens has its own purpose, this one is landscapes, indoor shots, group shots. There were times I couldn't go wider with my 17-70mm lens, without having to break the wall. This lens opens up to 10mm which makes shots that were not previously possible, possible. What's nice about this one is that it's constant aperture

 And so when I did my image quality review here of the Tamron, which you definitely want to take a look at that if you haven't already, you know, I noted once again that the image quality is exceptional, and you know, while there is some very minor give and take with the Canon, it basically is pretty much as good. The Canon has a little bit better wide open contrast, and I find it definitely has a little bit more better light transmission, but at the same time, it's also guilty of some pretty serious focus breathing, and the Tamron is not. And so, you know, there's kind of strengths on both sides. But what I really wanted to determine is if the Tamron could do a better job in keeping up with action

6. It is a VC-USD lens. Now, earlier this year when I did a review of the Sigma 100-400mm contemporary lens, I was really impressed with the actual image quality from a lens that, you know, cost a fraction of like the Canon 100-400mm L Mark II lens that I typically use for this kind of work, and the Canon often cost in excess of $2,000. Sigma came out with this lens at $799, and after I did my image quality comparison, people were just blown away, as I was, with the resolution and the image quality from the lens and really, you know, getting ready to sell their Canon gear, and I said, well, just wait, because I knew having already started to shoot the test that it just wasn't really ready to keep up with the action that a lot of people will want to shoot with a focal length like this

 Now, earlier this year when I did a review of the Sigma 100-400mm contemporary lens, I was really impressed with the actual image quality from a lens that, you know, cost a fraction of like the Canon 100-400mm L Mark II lens that I typically use for this kind of work, and the Canon often cost in excess of $2,000.  So we're gonna see as we move through this series, I had him running, just sprinting towards me, and what I found is that despite the fact that there is a lot of stuff going on here, and I was just bursting as quickly as what the Canon 5D Mark IV could do, we could see that despite, you know, some movement in the frame, other things that could, you know, grab attention, we can see that it has actually done a remarkably good job of tracking focus accurately throughout this, and so if you're dealing with a little less challenging object and maybe just slightly less speed than the small dog moving at speed, it's actually done a really remarkable job, and this was true of all the series that I shot, and I won't bore you with all of those here, but I thought I'd take you all the way through one, and there's just one shot here that I remember towards the end where autofocus wasn't right, and out of that, though, like 40 something different frames, autofocus was keeping right up. There it is right there, for whatever reason, autofocus seems to have moved too far ahead, but next frame, it's right back on there, and so we can see, you know, maybe starting to lose it here, it's perfect, starting to lose it here, focus goes out here, but even though you start and get close to the camera, it picked it right back up, and so that was great to see there, and so, you know, all in all, a pretty strong performance in terms of the focus, speed, and accuracy with the lens. So as you can see, the report here is a lot more positive, at least with this copy that I've reviewed, and so I've now shot it on both full frame and APS-C bodies, and, you know, afterward, I did do a very, very minor calibration on the wide end, but, you know, bottom line is the 400 millimeter telephoto in was pretty much bang on out of the box, and I needed like a plus one or two on the wide end to have that nailed down as well. So a really positive autofocus accuracy report, but beyond that, as you could see, a surprisingly strong performance when it came to the tracking, and while I still think that the Canon is the best of the bunch, you know, it helps having that little extra bit of light transmission, and of course, you know, the first party autofocus system, and it has one of Canon's best, but frankly, the Tamron seemed to be every bit as fast in my just kind of focus test, and it was able to keep up with action nearly as good, and depending on what kind of action you're doing, it can nail it pretty much perfectly as we saw, and so a lot of encouraging things there, and so a while I'll come back to you with my final verdict, and I'll have a kind of a shorter segment that just kind of gives you an overview of all of these things, also a look at the VC performance, but you know, I'm feeling pretty positive about this lens, that it's a lot of bang for the buck, and so stay tuned for my final verdict coming in a few days, along with my written review

Tamron 100-400mm VC | Autofocus and Tracking Review | 4K

 Yes 800 bucks is a good amount of money but if you're looking to reach out and grab those images and you don't want to spend a ton more money like in the two $3,000 range this may be a great option for you to look at. The color, the tones, the clarity, the sharpness, I was happy with what I saw, there's always little imperfections and that's why I give you the raw files so you can download and determine if they're right for you.  Now I was pretty surprised at how sharp this lens was. When I took photos through a fence of the bald eagle you could see how sharp the eyeball was and look at the feathers around its neck. That's pretty amazing to shoot through the fence like that, blow that out of focus and get a super sharp image of the bald eagle. I got some really nice results shooting the lion as well

Lens is good but bit heavy need to build some muscle to use this lens. Giving less stars because of worst amazon policy they are reducing the price every 2 days around 50$ and they don’t do price match and need to return old order and get new one which is stupid. I bought for 812 and now the price is in 600-700 range which is nuts

 Hi, I'm Dustin Abbott, and I'm here to give you my final verdict on the new Tamron 100 to 400 millimeter f4.5 to 6.3 DI VC USD lens. This of course is Tamron's newest lens in the affordable kind of telephoto category, and they are of course following up very successful releases of 150 to 600 millimeter lenses, both the original VC lens that kind of launched this whole category of quality yet affordable telephoto zoom lenses

 They followed that up with 150 to 600 millimeter G2 lens last year. Now this of course comes on the heels of Sigma releasing a 100 to 400 millimeter contemporary lens earlier in the spring this year, which proved to be an excellent lens optically that I was really impressed by. However, I didn't feel like it held up to kind of the necessary autofocus speed that's going to be needed for shooting kind of high action events, birds in flight, some sports, maybe just wildlife in general, or it just could be people that want to track their kids. As a result, I just didn't feel that it was quite there, particularly when I compared it to the much more premium Canon 100 to 400 L Mark II

 I eventually did a very minor one to two point calibration on the wide end at a hundred millimeters, but at 400 millimeters, I was basically dialed in with, um, with both camera bodies. That's very promising for a third party lens and, and I found that my autofocus accuracy during my review period was actually excellent. So kudos to Tamron on that. Perhaps even more importantly, when I went out and I began to do action sequences and tracking sequences, I found that the Tamron did a pretty great job of keeping up

 And for those of you that are value conscious, it's really hard to argue against an $800 lens that is competing in a $2,000 category that does so many things as well as what the new Tamron 100 to 400 millimeter VC lens does. If you'll take a look in the description down below, you can find linkage to purchasing the lens, to my full written review, and to image galleries that have a lot of samples there to look at both on full frame and APS-C. And yes, the lens survives the transition APS-C just fine, as did the Sigma for that matter. Image quality is still quite good

 To my eyes, the quality of those out of focus backgrounds looks really nice and soft. So, overall, the Tamon 100-400 is great to see on a market. It's pretty sharp, and it handles great, all while being comparatively good value for money. It can't do what Canon's latest L lens does, but it is less than half the price

 I'm not going to say that the Sigma and Tamon lenses are cheap, but they're certainly far, far better value for money. I have no idea what Canon, Nikon and Sony are playing at, but they've certainly left the market nice and open for competition. Anyway, let's look at this Tamon lens now. The lens itself has quite a plain design, but it's very smart looking

 It has better build quality, and the possibility of using a tripod ring. The Sigma lens I found to be noticeably sharper than the Tamon lens, particularly on full frame, but the Tamon has a much closer minimum focus distance. In the US, the Sigma lens is a little cheaper, but the Tamon lens has better image stabilisation, and I also noticed it has faster autofocus. Now, it's up to you which one to go for

 Sigma's 100-400mm lens I tested last year and cost $700 in the US, or about £680 in the UK. Tamon's even newer 100-400mm lens we're testing today is $800 in the US, but the same price as the Sigma lens here in the UK, about £680. I'm not going to say that the Sigma and Tamon lenses are cheap, but they're certainly far, far better value for money. I have no idea what Canon, Nikon and Sony are playing at, but they've certainly left the market nice and open for competition
