And yes, the lens survives the transition APS-C just fine, as did the Sigma for that matter. Image quality is still quite good.

* Tamron 100-400: The situations where you could use it with extender might be rare because of aperture... Never used it but it seems like a very good lens especially for its price according to the reviews I’ve seen. * I never used the 80-200 either but if it is on your list you could also consider the 70-200 f/2.8L (non IS). If the 100-400 or 70-200 options are better for you depends on the sport you want to shoot.

H E A V Y. That’s why I didn’t buy it. I got the Tamron 28-300 for my 6D instead. I use it for travel because it’s kind of a do-it-all lens, but it doesn’t do anything great. In addition, I went with a Canon 17-35/2.8 L, Sigma 24-70/2.8, and Tamron 100-400.

The lens was great but they keep changing the price every week or month. It fluctuates anywhere between 700 to 1000. I lost almost 120$ by purchasing it for a high priced "deal". Not fair.

I have a tamron 100-400mm, light to lug around with, fast af and sharp. I also have the 1.4 teleconverter. If you look at my posts you will see some examples of wildlife I have taken with my D850 and this lens.

The lens does focus sharply or well. Almost all image are to soft for enlargement purposes. Use on a d800e and d7200. 50 images on average the were out of focus on either bodies. Very disappointing.
