 By comparison- The Vitus 979 is a fairly legendary frame, it was the original factory made “weight weenie” and truly top of the line for late 1980s tech with a mix of Shimano 600 and early Dura-ace components and hand built clincher wheels. Weight between the two bikes was almost identical, with the modern Raleigh being much more rigid and objectively “better” in measurable ways but the Vitus just FELT nice with the hand built wheels and slick shifting non indexed components. I had a decent baseline of riding performance on the Raleigh, and my first ride out with the Vitus for $300 I averaged a .5mph bump in speed with 7bpm lower heart rate

Where are the *actual* entry-level bikes?

  Although mine has significantly more scratches and a healthy coating of dirt and sand cause it's my all year bike. Ol' reliable if you will.

 if you're coming from a road group set and you're thinking of sharing wheels or mixing and matching components, it's likely that 11 Speed will be the better option for you. But if you're buying a new bike and don't want to splash out loads of money, really do consider Rx 400 because it's excellent.  On a tradition, I'm going to have to refer to my notes because I can't keep that many numbers in my head at once. The claimed weights for Grx are all on bike radar, and I do recommend that you refer to our excellent website for those. but I weighed the components on this bike as I built it, and so that's what I'm going to tell you. The Rx 600 levers weighed 305 grams for the right, 316 grams for the left

 The cranks, including chain rings for a 170 mil crank arm were 808 grams. The threaded bottom bracket, which is an Ultegra level one, was 76 grams. The Hg 700 11 to 34 cassette was 362 grams including the spacer for an 11 speed freehub chain was 257 grams and the brakes were 121 grams for the front caliper only and 166 grams for the rear caliper which included some hose, which is a very unhelpful thing for me to do. I'm also going to talk about pricing now

 Group set pricing is really annoying because often the retail numbers bear very little resemblance to how much you actually pay for components when you go and order them from a bike shop. Best part about SRAM Eagle is that all the components work with each other. So you can always upgrade to NX, GX X01 or XX1 whenever you want piece by piece.  It’s all swappable.

So I have this bike on order. I'm definitely not a component expert by any means, but after some research I have determined that this set is bottom of the barrel with some really bad reviews. I even saw this set on a 2020  $1200  GIant Talon 29.

This bike isn't cheap, $3400CDN plus tax and shipping. And this is my first full suspension bike.

I know new bikes are covered under warranty, but am I overreacting?

Confused with Giant Trance X 29 3 components. SRAM SX Eagle

All SRAM Eagle parts are compatible so you can run a NX derailleur with a GX cassette and SX chain for example. If you want to keep the repair price down, go for another NX derailleur but if you see yourself upgrading your drivetrain in the near future, I would suggest getting the GX 1x11 derailleur now as it will last you longer and it's one last thing to upgrade when you're ready to upgrade the cassette.

I can either spend around 70 bucks where I'm at for the NX derailleur or get a GX for about twice that. However if I can't figure out if all my NX parts are compatible with GX.  a full GX setup is around 700 usd which is well outside my budget atm, and I would love to be back on my bike ASAP. 

what are the essential parts for swap from NX to GX? 

I'm not even sure if i'm asking the right questions, and local bike stores are unwilling to help since all of them claim many months of waiting for the parts without even quoting the price. Pains of living in a fairly flat country where most people ride city bikes.

I have a serious shifting problem, SRAM Eagle NX has a serious design flaw, a few reviews online have hinted at the problem, i do not recomend this product.
