What does everyone think about the new Dura Ace and Ultegra being Di2 only?
My opinion is that the current 105 has nicer shifting than Dura Ace from ten years go. 7900 wasn't great. 9000 was an improvement, but 9100 is king. R8000 Ultegra and R7000 105 were the 'trickle down' and just as good with slightly less fancy materials and a few extra grams.
Sometimes I can get it there when I’m riding by back pedalling and jerking the chain, but that’s it. Not really sure why this suddenly started happening. For reference, it is a Shimano 105 R7000 group set, I take decent care of it, the cables have never been replaced and it has done about 7,200 km in it’s life so far. I have never touched the limit screws either.

No, don’t buy it. Don’t waste your time with anything tiagra. Go for shimano 105 or higher

Shimano 105 R7000 road group trickles tech down, gets new 105 disc brakes
In a move as reliable as clockwork, Shimano trickles down the same road racing tech developed first in their latest Dura-Ace, then Ultegra, now to the more affordable 105. Promising much of the performance of those more racing focused groupsets, 105 continues to be the value leader of Shimano’s road...

Both like new. 2016 norco vs 2020 merida. About 400 aud extra for the merida. Thoughts?
I would choose the Merida since it appears to have Shimano 105 R7000, based on what I can tell from the photo. The difference between Shimano Sora and Shimano 105 is well worth $400.

Tiagra vs 105
105 is definitely an upgrade over Tiagra, particularly in the current offering. 105 R7000 is actually very close to ultegra R8000 in design and function, only a little heavier because of material choice. On the other hand, there is nothing wrong with Tiagra, I did 2 HIMs on Tiagra and did just fine! Particularly if you are getting started, the advantages of 105 would not be something you would miss.

Shimano 105 group set review - Best bang for the buck | Kerékpár magazin - Bikemag.hu - Hírek, tesztek, versenyek
(The bike I received for testing the R7000 had decent – but far from the best – shifting, some manufacturers do a much better job!).

I love the bike. It is firmly build and has basic technology (rim brakes, cables outside the drone, Shimano 105). With a little bit adjusting, and packing very light, I think I could manage all my luggage on it (front fork bags, handle bar bag, top tube bag and saddle bag). The only thing that I’m a bit worried is the tire width; I think 25 mm is the maximum that I can get on it.
