Shark Cordless Vertex Pro Powered Lift-Away vs Shark APEX UpLight

While you can't adjust its brushroll height to accommodate for very shaggy carpeting, it still performs amazingly well on low and high-pile rugs. Like most of Shark's other upright vacuums, it uses the brand's 'Lift-Away' design, which allows you to pick up and carry its canister body with one hand while cleaning hard-to-reach areas with its wand and hose. Using it in its most powerful suction mode can drain its battery in as little as 10 minutes, so you need to work quickly when vacuuming stubborn debris, though running it in its 'ECO' mode does extend its runtime drastically.

Unfortunately, this vacuum has quite a few components that need regular cleaning. Also, while it feels decently well-built overall, its clear plastic dustbin does feel as if it could break if you were to drop it. Its hose is short, too, making it challenging to clean hard-to-reach areas, like high-up shelves, when using the vacuum in its semi-handheld configuration. Still, its onboard HEPA filter and versatile performance on a variety of surfaces make it one of the best vacuums for pet hair that we've tested

Note that the suction from the wand, is very low. I have a hand vac I use instead for crevices, ridiculous, I knowww. It’s not worth the high cost. My apartment is wood floor throughout with a couple rugs

*While it works great on our hardwood floors and low pile rugs, it does not run on my daughter's thicker shag rug. *Clogged when vacuuming up leaves. You might think that my experience with the front roller connection breaking would lead to an automatic negative review for this vacuum. However, I use it without that roller, and due to the powerful suction, it still is one of the best vacuums we've had

Suction power does not compare at all with shark corded, and that is what I am gonna buy again, a corded shark. Also, using on the stronger suction mode ( definitely needed for carpet) will give you only 10 minutes running time. Maybe in a few years I will give it a shot again on the cordless, hopefully power and battery life will improve!!

It doesn’t have good suction., it will pick up a little larger items but clog, to empty you have to unhook bottom from top and then take the top part of vacuum to trash and such a hassle to make sure the large top is in the trash when u empty out or else it will make a mess. Cord is Manuel. Also has attachment that should fit on side of vacuum but the part is flimsy and doesn’t stay on

For my once-in-a-blue-moon cleaning, I'll stick with my much better 30-year old Miele -- more suction, much better for baseboards, etc., etc. And, by the way, at least on mine, the battery indicator doesn't work. If you are using it at maximum, it just goes dead after about 15 minutes

The lights are bright, emptying the bin is easy, the cleaner is quiet, it is easy to change the speeds, it picks up quite large pieces, cleans more than adequately and the battery comes out (easily) to charge anywhere you like (worktop, floor etc.) in its own charging unit, so you don't have to store the vacuum near a charging point. Charging from 10% takes up to 3.5 hours

I use the Rocket with the wand section removed (floor head joined directly to the motor/dust cup unit) for the easiest handling. This is not an option with the Apex Uplight.

Things I prefer vs a Dyson: - The battery is removable and docks into a charger rather than docking the entire vacuum. - The motor and dust bin are lower to the ground. The is much better ergonomically than a dyson that puts the weight of the motor right by your hand. - the rollers never get hair stuck in them

The attachments fit into a plastic clip that goes on the upright of the vacuum. It is a REALLY BAD DESIGN. The cord gets caught on the attachments when turning the vacuum and the attachments seem to always get knocked out of the clip if vacuuming near, or bumping, anything.

Overall, I'm very pleased. The battery life is 'okay' or competitive with most other cordless vacuums, but shocked me was the noise. This vacuum is VERY loud and almost sounds broken when it is running (I ended up looking at the head to see if something was wrong as it was that loud)

It is a little different because the majority of the weight is close to your hand instead of down low. This doesn't bother us in the least. If I had to find fault, it is not the air that blows up at your face, which is minimal, but it would be the decibel level of the noise. It has a kinda high pitch noise when running

I like the eco to boost power modes as well for different types of situations where you need more power. It is easy to maneuver and flexes enough to get underneath the hard to get areas underneath furniture. I am totally OCD and vacuum every day to pickup pet fur on our dark wood floors and carpet so I am very happy with this product. I love the HEPA filtration system and all of the handheld attachments it comes with

Since it has a HEPA filter, this theoretically should be okay as it’s “clean” air. But if you’re sensitive, it’s still a problem. Plus I just don’t like it. Putting the motor lower on the stick closer to the base and further away from me would also solve this problem

Hepa filter is fantastic. The digital screen allows you to choose flooring type and strength of suction. Would highly recommend.

During the call, I was just baffled by the attitude of the customer service. Although "courteous", they are basically trying to bait you into saying that the problem occurred because you didn't maintain the unit correctly. (because then they are not liable for it) They would ask you "how often do you wash the filters" or "how do you wash the filters". If you answer "I didn't wash" or they conclude you washed improperly, they will basically turn it around on you
