Sennheiser HD 600 vs Superlux HD 681

In high quality, and compared it with other headphones of mine (Beyerdynamic 770 Pro for example.) and my KRK VXT8 speakers. But most of all I was astonished that my Superlux Evo 681 sounded better. Are you serious?

Clearly the Grado's at $100 are the least expensive with the Momentum jumping up markedly to $299, while the more recently acquired Sennheiser HD600 hit the $400 mark. When a number of them are playing notes together the Grado's sounded smeared compared to the HD600s. Not unlike a poorly created JPEG from a digital point-n-shoot versus a well-made JPEG from an original RAW processed via Adobe Lightroom. Details are are lost in the former, but the latter does a far superior job of keeping the detail even in the process of losing information

* Superlux HD 681: bought it some time ago when first getting into headphones as they are rightly praised for being very good value, nowadays I'd offer these to guests if they are not into headphones and need headphones for some reason. They sound really good for the price, but I have better things now. Used very seldom, I'd probably give these to a friend or family member if they want them or need headphones when getting the Aeon 2 Noire.

Clear: It’s pretty crazy how comfortable the Clears are for how heavy they are. They are so perfectly balanced on my head that I do forget I have headphones on sometimes.

A screw-on 1/4in jack is included. Both jacks are gold-plated. Also supplied is a carrying bag. Comfort: (6/10) The ear-pads are somewhat on the small size (although they do go around the ears) but they are pretty stiff and they do cause (at least to me) some discomfort

I’m not a headphone expert, though I have been using them in one form or another dating back to 1977, so a good 40 years on everything from the old Koss white eggshell looking things to Sony’s 1980s on the ear to noise canceling Sony and Bose phones. But for music (hi-fi) my AKGs had been my reference until they were damaged. But this review concerns some AKG K-712s that I purchased at the same time as the Sennheisers specifically to test. In truth I picked up the AKGs after being disappointed with the HD600s; feeling like something was missing

I have a small head and the clamping has left me in pain with its circumaural design. Bottom earcups rest right at my jaw line and is not a comfortable thing. Overall its a descent buy to get a peak into the open can world. There's a reason why any one person would spend $300 on a Sennheiser or Beyer or Grado

But this same snugness helps keep them from slipping and maintains a good acoustic clamshell. They are B-I-G, and not "foldable," and the storage sack they come with is a bit laughable when you try to stuff them into it. I will most likely only use these at my home desk or when I stream movies or play games. The cord is overly long, which I suppose I will appreciate when I'm not using my laptop and plug into my desk monitor

I went around one day in Sydney and tested all the earphones I could find in 3 stores and was just stunned by the performance difference in the Sennheiser compared to the rest. It was a huge difference.

Now unless I use Bluetooth headphones, I can only hear out of one ear when I'm on my phone. Full disclosure again: My phone is an LG G2, which isn't the newest phone, but it's nowhere near the point where it should be breaking. Also, my warranty has been voided for almost a year now, so that's just going to have to be something I'll have to deal with now. So I returned them
