Sennheiser HD580/600/650/660S fit just about any head size, and can stand the test of time easily. My HD580 is 23 years old, been actively used by the original owner throughout the years (and now by myself), and only ever needed the pads to be replaced as they inevitably wear out over time. Still in a 9/10 condition, and still competes in today's market in terms of sound. I can easily see it survive another 23 years, without needing to baby them

I’m not a headphone expert, though I have been using them in one form or another dating back to 1977, so a good 40 years on everything from the old Koss white eggshell looking things to Sony’s 1980s on the ear to noise canceling Sony and Bose phones. But for music (hi-fi) my AKGs had been my reference until they were damaged. But this review concerns some AKG K-712s that I purchased at the same time as the Sennheisers specifically to test. In truth I picked up the AKGs after being disappointed with the HD600s; feeling like something was missing

I went around one day in Sydney and tested all the earphones I could find in 3 stores and was just stunned by the performance difference in the Sennheiser compared to the rest. It was a huge difference.

My pair is very well broken in so the comfort level is supurb and they have just the right amount of clamping force. Just be careful if you get a new pair and attempt to streach them out as you can easly snap the headband. This is not to say that they are built flimsy, quite the contrary I think they are very durable. Then again I baby my cans and my pair has not a single blemish on them

Clear: It’s pretty crazy how comfortable the Clears are for how heavy they are. They are so perfectly balanced on my head that I do forget I have headphones on sometimes.
