I said, OK, let's go with that theory. Especially since I saw the Yamaha actual perform properly with the LG while I saw the Samsung properly control the DVR.

So, I bought a Samsung remote ($20) that was compatible, and with direct buttons to Netflix, Hulu and Prime, and an honest to goodness numerical keypad, and volume and channel buttons dedicated as such.

The soundbar works, but I can't use one remote to control volumes, etc. That's disappointing. The 6 speaker sound on the QLED 80A is an improvement over older TVs at this price point, but not as good as a soundbar w/ subwoofer. Wish I could figure this out (if anyone knows the solution, please comment and tell me)

Check recommend to a friend but only if they have very good hearing. Samsung techs helpful but cannot solve the problem.
