Despite our gushing, we still have a few criticisms of this specialty shoe. Our biggest carry-over complaint between the previous version and the Speedcross 6 is the overly-assertive and outdated drop design. With a thick heel counter and 10mm heel-to-toe drop, this shoe is particularly unstable when running downhill. Although the breathability has improved by tweaking the type of mesh over the instep and forefoot, the Speedcross is better deployed during the cold weather months or high-altitude runs through the mountains. On the flip side, with other, less supportive, and less comfortable shoes pushing into its weight class, we no longer complain about the heft of the Speedcross 6. There is no better option for those who like to run off-trail, over snowy mountains, through muddy river bottoms, and up steep, rocky crags.

  These shoes are amazing. love the laces and love the feel.  However, like knobby tires on a bike or car, these wear super fast on asphalt. As much as I like them, I feel reluctant to wear them on the street because they wear down so quickly

Salomon Speedcross 6 Review - The Best Trail Running Shoe?

 Waterproofing looks good. The footbed is a bit narrower than I like for stability, but frankly if I were just to need a shoe for trail running on rugged trails, I'd run these for sure. Pretty good protection for toe/heel.

These type shoes are made to fit tight. Not length but around your foot. You need to tighten them down and they “lock” your foot in nicely and after a couple weeks they conformed to my foot. They feel very comfortable after what I assume was the break-in period

... probably too many! The tightness I mentioned really comes in handy running over uneven ground like rocks, mud, up and down steep inclines

 If they last like I expect them too I think the price although high is worth it. I will be doing many runs so if anything fails or my review changes for the worse I will update immediately. Thanks for reading and I hope it helps someone who is on the fence about these.

Trail runners best friend

The shoes are excellent in all but one respect: the ridged soles slip on wet rocks. Great fit, cushioning, construction, quick tie laces. All good EXCEPT: if you need to walk on rocks that are even a little wet or mossy, watch out. You will land in the drink

5, my road shoes are Nike Pegasus 38, also size 5.5 and my normal shoe size is a 5. The extra half a size is perfect, as my feet swell slightly when running a trail marathon/ultra and I don't have any issues with blisters. You do need some extra room, but not too much

I just bought a pair of Saucony Peregrine trail running shoes. I need them for 51k run I've got planned in June, + I'll be using them to go running in the mountains all over Germany as I train for it.

They're incredibly comfortable. Too comfortable in fact. They feel like they should be tighter, I'm used to wearing much tighter running shoes - I have a pair of Nike vaporfly that fit a lot tighter.

But the guy in the store said this was the right size. I tried a size down, but he said for a 51k I needed some space for my feet to swell into the shoes. As this was a bona fide trail running shop, I decided to go with his professional advice. But I'm still not fully convinced, I'm worried I'll get blisters from these shoes rubbing on my achilles heel.

Was he right? Are trail running shoes supposed to feel a bit loose compare to standard track running shoes?

<p>Update: he was right! I&#39;ve run about 70k on trails with these shoes, no sign of a blister. The only thing I don&#39;t like about them is how heavy they feel compared to my Nikes, and how little bounce they have. But I guess that&#39;s just a given with these kind of rough terrain shoes. Apart from that they&#39;re super comfy and stable.</p>

How should trail running shoes fit?

 Kind of right in, right in this area right here. So I bought these ones. These are the Saucony Peregrine 11 wide. Because I had a race coming up, I didn't have time to exchange or anything like that and I wanted to kind of try these shoes out

 And I did notice that on my runs I wasn't getting a lot of debris in there. My feet weren't as gross you know, when I take the shoe off, so I think it was doing its job. Uh, you know we've got these overlays here as well, but basically it's just a pretty typical upper. You know, there is this toe shield on the front and the uh, outsole kind of curves up a little bit and gives you a little bit of protection there in the front on the upper as well

 So thank you Mike. But let me know below, if you like the shoe and what's your thoughts are, I'm curious to see if you guys like them as much as I do. One thing I will point out about these shoes is with this really aggressive power track outsole. I think this is not a shoe for somebody that does kind of like a commuter style

Just got some new Altra Torin 5s and am in love with them. Excited to run with a 0 drop shoe that fits and feels so perfect. What are thoughts on this shoe? I haven’t even run in them yet other than the treadmill at the store but I’m excited to try them out.

What are your favorite all black running shoes?

I’ve been running the Wasatch in the Saucony Peregrine 10 ST this summer as a much cheaper and readily available alternative to the Speedcross 5. Surprisingly good durability for a soft terrain shoe on such scrappy trails.

I live in Utah so a lot of the trails I run on are very rocky and simply tear apart my running shoes. I bought some HOKA speedgoats about 3 months ago and the bottoms are already torn to shite. But Hoka's are easily my favorite, especially due to the padding i need on those steeper downhill runs that i need to be easier on my joints + the longer runs I do. BTW I tried Altras and I just can't get on board, even though they're a local UT company. They feel cheaply made and very uncomfortable to my feet (though I probably just have weak, sensitive feet).   


Would anyone have any recommendation of trailrunners made for rough rocky surfaces/impact? I know someone may just suggest day hikers but not looking for that. Maybe im searching for a unicorn.
