 I recieved an Aruba IAP-305 unit as a demo that I wired up for comparisons to this which I purchased based on a recommendation. While the two units performed similar when sitting right next to each other averaging 400-500mbps up amd down the Ruckus shines when at a distance performing well over 150mbps when across the house and up stairs through walls and floors. The aruba sitting in the middle of the house barely reaches the end of the house and will only see about 30mbps. Sitting side by side the ruckus is thicker though I dont think this matters much

 I have successfully validated this wired at 1gig. Wireless I was seeing 400mbps right next to my netgear R7000 but 30mbps across the house. It has worked for a while but recent frequent crashes have left me stranded during calls and my kids schooling.  I was trying various units out for performance

I take it everyone bought new routers for the pandemic so this is a bad time to be a nerd with a failing router.

 I like the Google WiFi, but for some odd reason the coverage is not so hot. So one $200 R610 vs 4 Google nodes is probably still a good value.

 They push firmware to your devices even when automatic updates are disabled. Turning off the sending analytics to Unifi doesn't actually disable it, it just makes you think it's disabled so you won't complain. Go read the forums and watch the youtube videos. Unifi has lost their way and should be avoided on anything other than a test network

Buyer Beware

 Then I had to click to update the firmware which it downloaded and installed, then reprovisioned itself. Done. One tip I would give anyone looking to buy a Ubiquity WAP. You don't have to wait for your WAP to arrive, I installed the software on my home server and configured my home wireless on it while I was waiting for the first WAP to arrive

 That was the hard part. In the setup website, I had to 'adopt' it, then wait for a short time while it provisioned. Then I had to click to update the firmware which it downloaded and installed, then reprovisioned itself. Done

 UPDATE- it's been 5 months, and my to UNIFI WAPs, (this, and an AC PRO) have been working flawlessly. I ended up ordering a couple of Intel based PCI NICs for a couple of my computers so they can take advantage of AC (I've been using N since before AC existed and these are my first AC WAPs) and I have good coverage.

 Please don't fault the device for this and give a bad review because you didn't know something. I even read one review where the person was expecting to directly setup the device, he was looking for it's IP to log into it so he gave a negative review because HE didn't know how these work. The beauty here is a single point of control for ALL the WAPs, and Ubiquity's other devices if you use those. Adding this second WAP was as easy as breathing as the wireless was already setup

Now this is a really powerful access point in quite a small form factor, so this is 802.11ac Wave 2 4x4 multi-user MIMO in the 5 GHz spectrum, or basically about 1.7 gigabits per second of throughput in the 5 GHz spectrum

 We're gonna click on that and we're gonna click adopt. There we go. Adopted, now provisioning. That was actually really quick

 So this is the wall mount and the pole mount. So what you have here is a little device that sort of allows you to slip this on like so. So this goes on the wall or on the pole and then this goes like so, slips right onto that secondary, slips right onto that secondary piece like so. And there you have your wall mounting or pole mounting

 Welcome to Crosstalk Solutions, my name is Chris and today we're going to be taking a

 look at the UniFi Flex HD or model number UAP-FlexHD-US, at least that's the US model

 Now this device is essentially the same specifications as the NanoHD, so the UAP-NanoHD model number,

 but it's a much much different form factor and this is an indoor-outdoor access point

 as opposed to the NanoHD which is specifically made for indoors.

 Ok so let's go ahead and pop this thing open and take a look at what comes inside the box.

 Alright here we have the NanoHD itself, this is a very kind of a interesting form factor

 It's kind of like the size of a Red Bull can, or here I'll tell you what.

 Here we go, so there is the NanoHD alongside a beer bottle, and you can see that it's just

 a little bit smaller than the beer bottle.

 Alright so there's only really two ports on this thing, we have the ethernet, this is

 There's even a note in the datasheet that says, when mounting the UAP Flex HD Outdoors,

 it should be mounted vertically right side up to prevent water and other elements from

 So there are a number of different ways to mount this thing.

 We have a tabletop mount, that's this stand that it comes with, it's just got these sort

 So you can put it tabletop, just put it like that and just stick it wherever you want to
