 Now, the power port is something Polk Audio has been doing for decades now, and essentially, it's designed to elongate the port, reduce chuffing, which is a major problem with budget speakers, which basically allows you to turn the volume up without hearing this weird port noise. And also, as Polk Audio advertises in their literature, it's supposed to allow you to get more bass extension from the cabinet. So overall, it's a very simple design.  In fact, this is an evolution above the tri-laminate material, which they've used forever. On the bottom here, we have a five and a quarter inch woofer made of polypropylene mixed with some other materials. We have magnetic grills, and we also have this step baffle, which is basically designed to reduce diffraction and interaction between the drivers and the entirety of the front of the speaker. Good sound stage, wide range. Bought two sets used as mains for two AV systems. But still, sound quality depends on the source. These speakers delivers, good value

 I mean 229 dollars nowadays can buy really good mini monitors like Elec or Elec B5 or like you know some other manufacturers offering good sounding mini speakers. So these speakers what is the main difference from the rest is like better cabinet. So this cabinet is something worth noting because it does have very solid feel and it does provide a noise free, vibration free cabinet design for this budget speaker range and also it comes with the you know new power port technology that POKE been advertising. So that's the power port

 It's basically in this speaker it does have a little you know a little blaster piece right behind that base port of the speakers that they call a power port. So and this is a you know I'm playing really loud or like almost 90 95 db and then the cabinet is not making any sort of noise or vibration like I had experience in like budget Elec speakers like B5 or B6s. So that is a very impressive cabinet for the price. It's only 229 dollars and you got this kind of quality

 That is a half-decent speaker. Connectors around there are good, nothing loose about that. See, this is what I was worried about. I've had a speaker where I dropped it, and this actually unlaminated from the back, and it was floating around, but nothing is loose, so I'm guessing it's pretty good

 They sound really good too, but a few issues, I'm not sure if it's from when it hit the floor, but the back is loose, and it vibrates a little bit, so we're going to take this off. We're also going to take the drivers out, make sure the magnets on the back of the drivers aren't glued, and they're just sitting there because they're stuck to the basket being metal, just to make sure there's no damage, so you get a good look at what it looks like without some of the parts. There's the porch. You can see how they did that, that's cool

 What's it going to take to get this out? It'd be nice if it just drops out, but I doubt it. Oh, hammer push. That is a half-decent speaker. Connectors around there are good, nothing loose about that

I'm new to the hi-fi game and so these are the best speakers I've owned. I think the rose gold cones are a nice accent to the rest of my system which is black. My last speakers were budget speakers (Wharfedale Diamond 220) which sounded nice at lower volume but struggled when I turned the knob hard right. These are clearly in a different league

If you have $190 to spend on those used speakers with no warranty (I don’t care what the seller claims, if they have no warranty then you should think of them as used) then you are ten bucks away from affording a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 220’s. I would choose those, no question. They’ll have a sound that’s more neutral, probably a bit toward the warm side of neutral, which for most people’s ears is a better bet. I would also probably choose the Wharfedales over the Elacs others have posted here

I previously posted my setup asking about a dac, but now I’ve realized that my left speaker is blown. I found some Polk RTi A1s listed for 190$ does anyone know if that would be a good fit for this setup?

Couple generations out I know, but I have the 9.0s and the 9.1s. The 9.0s need a sub really, they sound great but struggle with that little bit of grunt in the lower frequencies. The 9.1s on the other hand are a great stereo speaker, and as far as I know the 9s, 10s, 11s etc etc shared similar traits in terms of speaker size. 

I will say that they’re fantastic speakers though. The only reason I’d replace mine would be to get some floorstanders, but I’d probably need a bigger house for that so it would end up being a fair expense all in all.

Wharfedale Diamond 11.0 worth USD 160?

If something a little smaller is better, switch the speakers to the Diamond 220, or maybe the JBL Stage A130 (especially if they go on sale for $180 a pair again). Or the Diamond 12.1, which is the current-generation version of the Diamond 220 (though unfortunately Wharfedale’s US pricing on their current models just went up). Don’t get entry level Klipsch for your desk

 Those are super bright speakers with boosted energy from the upper mids through the highs.

I've read the guide in budget audiophiles and I'm trying to narrow it down a bit. If you guys don't mind  helping me out here a bit.

Here's my limits:

* Will be wired to computer for Music, Gaming, and Movies \[in that priority\]
* Budget $600 for the entire system. \[$400 for the speakers preferably but willing to spend all 600 for the speakers\]
* Coming from using a bose soundlink mini for my speakers
* Music I listen to: Cage the Elephant, Coldplay, Killers, WoodKid, \[ [Woodkid - Volcano - Live (Official) - YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIMgSVuW0y0) I'll be using that as my benchmark\]
* Slightly leaning to passive speakers due [u/smackdaddies](https://www.reddit.com/user/smackdaddies/)  idea of upgradeability but idk still on the fence.
* Will be usually within an arm's length from speakers
* I'd like to go to a store to demo out some speakers, but I can't find anything anywhere. I live in Pullman, WA and have gone to a music store but nothing just amps. May have to try something like Best Buy or something.
