Purchased a PNY 250GB specifically for backup images on my new WIN 10 PC. Like it coming with 2 different cables for connectivity. Very portable size. Reasonable price

 Luckily the thing is so light if the cable aren't long enough you could just let the thing dangle.

 While it did score some reads and writes in the 400 range I never saw any of that it real world use. In fact the fastest I saw writing was in the low 200s and very seldom got that fast. Real world speeds are going to depend on your hardware, ports and if you are going through buses and such. I also find the speed is dependent on the type and sizes of files being written

 For the same price you can land a 4TB Portable HDD drive. But it you are looking for portablilty, speed and plan on using it often, this is for you.

 As advertised, it is faster than all those, and also faster than the cloud I have with my cable Internet provider that claims to be super fast. It's a relatively small hand-held size, ideal for quick transfer of large files, video, etc. among Type-A and Type-C devices. Get the capacity you need and make sure your devices are compatible (my kid's lower-end tablet doesn't recognize the drive, for example, but it's great between laptops)

1 Gen 2 extension may defeat the speed capabilities somewhat. I'll probably end up using this PNY Pro Elite as a portable video and music library that I can plug into family devices and when visiting relatives. It'd be good backup storage for some, but there are larger, more permanent options for that.

 I'm giving this item 3 stars because, despite being more than fast enough, I think I got a faulty unit. It struggles with sustained loads and sometimes renders Final Cut Pro frozen after prolonged periods of editing. I've never had this happen on any SSDs before, much less SanDisk ones. I made sure it wasn't my computer or software wigging out

Unless you have a specific Gen 2x2 USB port - which you can find boards for with custom-built PCs - it's not on most (if any) mainstream computers, then this drive will not hit its advertised speed.  I'd recommend getting a full-fledged Thunderbolt 4/3 SSD instead, since TB is a more common standard, if you want insane speeds

  This 2000MB/s - USB-C, USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 is really fast. I have always had basic HDDs and even a new Seagate 1TB, so I was amazed at the transfer speeds.  Soft silicone grippy back and edges on both sides
