 This can be done by popping out the plastic headlamp clips with a flathead screwdriver and then releasing the liner. You'll need to use a knife or soldering iron to cut or melt a small channel in the foam if you want to route a battery cable on the inside of the helmet. Modifications of this type are unlikely to significantly affect the performance of the helmet, but it will void the warranty and it will no longer qualify as PPE for professional use. Use your judgment and take personal responsibility whenever modifying a helmet

 The helmet is comfortable to wear, and the suspension system keeps it in place when crawling or climbing. Things I like about the Boreo include the relatively lightweight for a hybrid helmet, the reasonable price, and the comfort. Things I don't like include the large amount of foam, which makes the helmet a little more bulky and more of a hassled amount of headlamp. I also don't like the use of open-cell foam for padding, but probably the biggest issue with the new Boreo is that it isn't available in red

 This additional protection isn't required by EN or UIAA, but is something Petzl has begun marketing as top and side protection. This extra foam does make the helmet a bit longer from front to back and wider from side to side than other hybrid helmets such as the Petzl Elios and Black Diamond Half Dome. The helmet is available in its standard form for $70 and in a caving version that includes bounding brackets for use with the Petzl Duo or Ultra headlamps for $100. The Boryo is available in two sizes, small-medium and medium-large

Petzl Boreo Helmet Review

After searching and trying several helmets I finally went with this one. First I'll say I tried the petzl women's Elias and it just did not fit securely on my head. Luckily I was able to try this on in a store. It comes in two sizes

 I did end up getting the smaller one because it did work with or without a beanie under it and the size 1 has a slightly smaller profile.  Pros: Lightweight - this is relative as an ounce does matter to some people, but to me it feels light Breathable - there is better ventilation on this than on the Elias or Elios - I haven't worn it in hot weather yet, so I will come back to report on this. Adjustable - the size one sits comfortably on my head - the back strap tightens with two sliders that lock as you tighten them. This helmet fits securely without the chin strap

Finally a helmet that fits

 Before that, I was the kind of guy who, I didn't think helmets were necessary, but after that, I realized that you should climb with a helmet whenever possible. So today, I'm wearing the Petzl BOREO helmet and here I am taking off my helmet after I just told you guys to always climb with a helmet. It's okay, I'm lounging, so it doesn't count. But this is the Petzl BOREO helmet

 And Petzl is known for safety because they have their fingers in all the search and rescue and high angle jobs and working stuff. As for the helmet itself, it's got these huge vents on the sides to help dump heat in the summer. And the rear is extremely adjustable so that I can fit a thick beanie under it for climbing in the winter or it stays snug in the summer when I'm just climbing with my golden locks of hair. The headlamp tabs are simple and they work really well

It would also protect your head from impacts from above &#40;falling rocks or ice&#41;, as well as on the sides &#40;hitting your head while falling&#41;. The Petzl Sirocco does all of these things and more, and our testers love it for its "barely there" design. Weighing a mere 6.1 oz., this featherweight product has never left our necks feeling tired, and more often than not, we forgot we had it on. We also appreciate the carefully molded combination of EPP foam on the sides &mdash; a softer, light, and more malleable foam that protects from side impacts and is impressively resilient &mdash; combined with an EPS foam and polycarbonate piece on the crown of the head that provides more bomber protection from projectiles falling from above. This winning combination remains super light and provides respectable protection everywhere it's needed. The original Petzl Sirocco shook up the climbing world with its lightweight yet durable construction and soon earned the endorsement of many serious alpinists. The second version builds off the first, with similar fundamentals but a more traditional shape and palatable look. Like the Black Diamond Vision above, the Sirocco uses a combination of expanded polypropylene (EPP) and expanded polystyrene (EPS), but with less polycarbonate covering and a lower-profile design, it weighs almost 2 ounces less. In fact, this helmet is so feathery light that you’ll forget it’s on your head.

 That'S pretty cool all right, so this design is um slightly different to a normal helmet, it's kind of like a foam composite around the edge a little bit in the middle and then there's a a really thin light shell. On top, the straps are really thin again. This is such a light helmet all right, let's see if i can put it on without adjusting any of the straps.  Let'S have a closer look. The side, there's the top nice shiny top, just something about petzl. I really like the brand petzl and they're one of the companies that make some of the best stuff and looking for the best helmet on the market. This is pretty much what came up everywhere

PETZL Sirocco 2 [UNBOXING REVIEW] Ultra-Lightweight Rock Climbing Helmet

Moving from my 6 year old BD Half Dome, this immediate difference is noticing this helmet is half of the weight. I'd still use my old helmet for most days at the crag, and reserve this for long multi-pitch days or sending hard routes. In terms of durability, I tend to baby this helmet inside my pack rather than clipping it outside where it accumulates bumps/scrapes. Not a game-changer, but definitely considering picking one up if there is a decent sale
