The second version builds off the first, with similar fundamentals but a more traditional shape and palatable look. Like the Black Diamond Vision above, the Sirocco uses a combination of expanded polypropylene (EPP) and expanded polystyrene (EPS), but with less polycarbonate covering and a lower-profile design, it weighs almost 2 ounces less.  That'S pretty cool all right, so this design is um slightly different to a normal helmet, it's kind of like a foam composite around the edge a little bit in the middle and then there's a a really thin light shell. On top, the straps are really thin again. This is such a light helmet all right, let's see if i can put it on without adjusting any of the straps.  Let'S have a closer look. The side, there's the top nice shiny top, just something about petzl. I really like the brand petzl and they're one of the companies that make some of the best stuff and looking for the best helmet on the market. This is pretty much what came up everywhere

 The hybrid construction of the SIROCCO allows it to weigh only 170 grams.. The main body of the helmet is made of expanded, polypropylene foam and provides amazing impact, absorption and withstands multiple impacts without damage.

 The removable and washable padding inside the helmet helps with sweat and cushions against pressure points. Numerous ventilation holes are located around the entire helmet to deliver optimal airflow during warm day-long ascents.. SIROCCO - Ultra-lightweight climbing and mountaineering helmet

Moving from my 6 year old BD Half Dome, this immediate difference is noticing this helmet is half of the weight. I'd still use my old helmet for most days at the crag, and reserve this for long multi-pitch days or sending hard routes. In terms of durability, I tend to baby this helmet inside my pack rather than clipping it outside where it accumulates bumps/scrapes. Not a game-changer, but definitely considering picking one up if there is a decent sale

Fantastic upgrade from BD Half Dome

 Has the removable liners for washing and a very comfortable harness system with the new Petzval Sirocco they've updated? What was already a really great design with the original Sirocco in a few different ways, we still have the expanded polypropylene as the main material, with lots of ventilation in it, but inside they've added a polystyrene liner to give the helmet a little bit more durability. That was one of the complaints that some guys had about the original Sirocco and they've, also added a polycarbonate crown to the top of it same material. They use in the material in the meteor 3 here to give it a little bit more durability. Other changes they've made between the old Sirocco and the new Scirocco is in the headlamp, strap on the back

 So this is still a really good choice out of pencils line it's a little bit more affordable than the Sirocco, but has excellent durability, good breathability and a light weight. The Petzl sirico has been on the market for a few years now, and it was really groundbreaking with how lightweight pets was able to make this helmet weighing in at only 6 ounces. There'S a lot of breathability in it. It'S made out of its spot expanded polypropylene, which has a really good ability to absorb energy when it takes an impact and kind of bounce back

The whole idea behind the vapor helmet was to have a helmet that you want to wear every time you go climbing, so it needed to be ultralight, it needed to be highly ventilated and it needed to be low profile. So it felt like part of you when we started this design, we started with how to make it as highly ventilated as possible and to achieve that, we use plastic and carbon rods that are inside the EPS foam

 One that could take a bit of a beating still looks pretty good. We also needed to get the ventilation as high as possible, which is really only possible through a foam helmet. We went with a polycarbonate skin over the top of that in order to resist dents and dings. What we also did was use a tuck away suspension system and that allows you to push the suspension system inside the helmet in order to store it in your pack

Light, packable, well ventilated. The white/orange color is nice as it absorbs less sunlight and is still visible in snowy environments. Light enough that it's easy to keep on take with me, even if I'm unsure if I'll actually need it.

Have taken this climbing a bunch, multipitch, single pitch, ice climbing, and by far one of the best helmets. Weighs near nothing, extra protection on the side than the previous generation, and looks better too. Pretty durable of helmet for being a lightweight helmet as it's more robust to being inside a pack. Great helmet if you're looking a lightweight climbing helmet

Great, light, protective

Just climbed almost 50 pitches in Potrero Chico this past week and this helmet provided!!! Couldn’t even tell I had it on it’s so light! Easy adjustability in the rear and under the chin! Much more comfortable that previous helmets with the dial in the back to tighten or loosen! I’m looking forward to some ski mountaineering with it this winter!!
