Mullvad also supports OpenVPN TCP 443 and multi-hop with Shadowsocks proxy (bridge mode), both with WireGuard and OpenvPN. These should work. If not, you'll need something like Perfect Privacy VPN.

I recently moved to an apartment that provides internet access for all residents via a contract with an ISP and I have been unable to download torrents ever since. They have a router and firewall set up with content filtering. I wish I knew that before signing the lease. I have been using an anonymous SOCKS5 proxy for a few years, instead of a VPN, just for torrents. I tried PureVPN before that, but the split tunneling hardly ever worked right and I need that because my Plex server won't work right over a VPN.

I thought maybe double NAT was the problem, so I tried bypassing my personal router. That didn't help. I found out about the content filtering when it blocked my attempt to go to my favorite torrent search site. I think it's complete bullshit that they're doing that, but I don't think there's anything I can do to force them to stop. If I wasn't forced to pay for it, I would just get my own internet service. I can't set up port forwarding because I don't have admin access to the router, so I think a VPN is my only option. I can set up VPN passthrough in my router and I'll run qBittorrent on a different computer than my Plex Media Server.

What I need to know is whether or not a VPN will get blocked by the property management company's firewall. I doubt they would block VPN tunneling altogether, because of people working from home, but maybe it would block WireGuard. I don't want to pay for a VPN if it won't work. If I can't use WireGuard, should I still get Mullvad or is there a better option?

<p>Update: I was able to get torrents working with a VPN, although not as well as I would like. Apparently, the firewall is blocking WireGuard, so I have to use OpenVPN on port 443. When I tried using WireGuard, it would only stay connected for a few minutes. I didn&#39;t get Mullvad because I was able to upgrade my proxy account to a VPN account and just pay a little over $6 for the year. When it expires, I&#39;ll probably switch to Mullvad.</p>

I trust Perfect Privacy and ovpn.to for years. They are expensive, but you can (could?) trust them. Most cheap VPN provider have a history of leaks and privacy violations (like NordVPN)

I did some Googling and came across ExpressVPN. Wondering if anyone has used them and recommend? Or is there another good VPN to consider?

I've been wanting to test-run a WireGuard VPN, to compare to ProtonVPN's IKEv2 connection. So, I purchased a 30-day subscription from Mullvad VPN, and connected my Samsung Note 10+.

 The snappy 200Mbps speed I got when connecting to Mullvad's local server became an unusable 30Mbps when I connected to their Switzerland server. ProtonVPN, on the other hand, went from 120Mbps when connected to their local server to 80Mbps when connected to a Switzerland server.

The next big difference between the two is the connection speed, and this is where the difference between WireGuard and IKEv2 comes into play. Both providers have servers in my city. With ProtonVPN(IKEv2), I average 120Mbps download and 17Mbps upload, with a 43ms ping time. With Mullvad's WireGuard connection, I averaged 200Mbps download, 17Mbps upload, with a 20ms ping time

  As the OpenVPN wrapping of the wire packet sent to the remote side then typically goes below 1500 bytes - which most of the Internet infrastructure mostly tackles just fine.  Otherwise, if the TUN packet itself is 1500 bytes, the OpenVPN wrapping increases the packet size enough so the packet often ends up being split into two packets - which impacts performance.  Now mssfix is set to 1450, which is helping - but only for TCP packets, not UDP.

ProtonVPN Netshield's adblock feature hasn't been working on my laptop with Windows 11 + Chrome or Edge for a while now. I can't seem to figure out what's going on. It's Chromium-releated, because Edge has the same issue and Firefox is working perfectly fine.

Well as an Indian, I feel it's not costly at all atleast for the Basic Plan. It is to be noted that ProtonVPN has the same pricing regardless of country which is the best model for any VPN so as to prevent differentiation and also considering the privacy first measures taken by the proton team they do deserve our support.
