 So what I decided to do is actually get these Klipsch speakers, I have these 2 corner speakers which are going to end up on these large pillars here, as you can see I have these corner pieces that are mounted that the prior owner had set up so I'll be able to mount those there, run speaker wire and power them off of the receiver and then I'll have these 2 bookshelf speakers which I have connected to this 55 inch TV and I typically could use this either when like doing workouts, things like that, just like follow along videos or if someone wants to be out here playing video games sometimes we'll do like retro gaming parties and events and we'll hook up like TVs and stuff so people can play. So overall I really wanted this receiver for some good sound coming off of the TV as well as the ability to have music that could fill the space, whether it be working out, a party, anything like that. So going through the receiver you have your power button here, you have your output here for phones, you've got your input selection, you have your bass so easy enough to just basically increase or decrease all these, trouble, balance and then you can switch between what's considered a speaker mode of A or B. So this actually has combinations so I'm going to go ahead and power this on and you can see by default we have volume, it's very easy to just move this up or down

 So I actually decided to pick this up, I have a Sony receiver in one of the other rooms I have here in my house and the reason I decided to go with this particular 2 channel receiver is I really wanted something that wasn't going to be necessarily utilized for surround sound but had the capability of hooking up at least 4 speakers. So let me kind of show you the layout of this particular space, this is actually a very large 4 car garage that I have here in my property and last year we actually had several parties in this space, we had like a Halloween party, we did a Christmas party and I had these 2 standing speakers here and what was really happening was these have like a wireless mode where you can sync them and what was more or less happening is those would desync and it was just very problematic, wasn't very reliable, I couldn't really put these in a place where I thought it would really fill the room with sound. ONKYO TX-8220 2 Home Audio Channel Stereo Receiver REVIEW!

 (In my googling I'm finding some reports that "amps hum," but no amp I've had in my living room has ever sounded like this.)

First, I was looking for an affordable receiver/amp to replace mine which had died. I was used to a 5.1 system that sounded great, but was willing to go down to 2 channel because, how bad could it be? My verdict on that is not to do it unless you add a powered subwoofer, which I don't own. (With just 2 speakers I am not happy with the sound

Fine except for the constant humming

 Throughout its entire life, with both relays, the unit would audibly click when the dynamics of a song drastically changed, which was quite annoying and alarming. If you do a deep dive online, there seems to be a general consensus that nearly all Onkyo receivers suffer from relay problems these days, including perpetual clicking and short life spans. For this kind of money, I expect a receiver to be far more durable with a much longer life span, and recently upgraded to a Yamaha RN303 that I hope will prove a wiser investment.

It pains me to write a negative review of this Onkyo receiver, because I loved the rich sound during its brief life, but having lived with it for two years as an avid music lover, I want to warn others that it has a fatal flaw and that your money is best spent elsewhere. I spent several days researching stereo receivers in May 2018 before purchasing this one, as it seemed to check all the boxes: bright clarity, good power, dynamic range for vinyl, easy Bluetooth connectivity, reputable brand name, all at a reasonable price point ($200-$250). Within six months, however, the relay burned out, in a smoke-free home where I treated it with the utmost care and was sure to never block/cover its case vents. After sending the unit to an authorized Onkyo repair shop, the unit was returned in working order, only to have this second relay burn up just beyond the two-year mark when it was no longer under warranty

Buyer Beware

 Nice clear audio no matter what input you throw at it. Bluetooth pairing is easy. I bought it mainly for the optical audio port. Unfortunately it is only good for 45 watts per channel so it’s not going to blow the roof off your house but if you can get past that and you just want a nice crisp sound to subtly fill the room, then this unit is perfect for you

 I did, however, return the unit just because I was looking for something with a little more punch to power my floor standing speakers.

Not a jamming system but does produce very crisp audio.

 So now what we're going to do is go over a couple key features and then we're going to talk about how it sounds now on the front of the unit. As you can tell it's pretty basic volume control, we have buttons for tone controls input. We also have a remote control in case you don't want to get up and actually change anything. The only two features i really want to focus on here is going to be the jack for the headphones, which actually sounds surprisingly good more on that later, and then we have a speaker, a b selector switch

 Look the point is this: is a real world product for real world people and what i like so much about it is that it's capable of delivering a consistent listening experience across a number of different situations that experience being a relatively easy going and full sound, and If you like that kind of presentation, this makes for a super easy recommendation. Now, of course not everybody is going to like that kind of sound. If you prefer more of a balanced and lively presentation with more control on the bass, you'll probably prefer the sony 190 and, of course, if you're all about speed and power and clarity, you may prefer one of those cheap class d amps that you can buy off. Amazon for the same price, or even less, there's no right or wrong here, but that leads me to the second reason why i like it, which is i just enjoy listening to it

 It could just be a whole lot of fun now. Obviously, it's not going to be for reference grade headphones, and there is just a little bit of hum that you can hear when you plug your headphones into the receiver. But as soon as you start playing music, even at low volumes, you're not going to notice it. So this is something that i thought was worth mentioning, but you know what i think: i've spent enough time talking about this product, so let's go ahead and wrap this up: [, Music, ]

So today, i'm gon na review, something that just about any music lover can afford. That'S right, i'm talking about a good old-fashioned, stereo receiver. Let'S go [ Music, ], alright, so here it is the yamaha rs 202 and when you get right down to it, this is a basic stereo receiver. It'S not meant for home theater applications and instead it's geared strictly towards music listening and what you're getting is a very minimalist design, both in terms of appearance as well as features

 To my surprise the wireless connection of the AirPlay feature to my iTunes library was easy and so far has been great. The sound is very good for a receiver at this price level and the old Klipschs are sounding fantastic again. I tried the Bluetooth and paired it with a Fire tablet very quickly and also sounded very good. There are other ways to connect to your network but I have not tried them yet

I like this receiver, I only wish the bass was a bit stronger. I only use it for playing vinyl. I like that it has its own phono input.
