Price

Can't use my newly built pc with 5800x cpu, need advice

Both can be found for around $100 and I wouldn't pay more than $150 for one, lately they've often been selling for more but there's always deals that pop up under $150, you've just gotta be on the lookout for them, when 3000 stock is better and you can get the gpu you actually wanted then you should be able to sell your placeholder card for around $100 once the market normalizes again. The GT 710 and 1030 that some people have recommended are NOT for gaming, they're only meant as a video output for cpu's without graphics and won't run most games well if at all, so if that's all you're looking for and you don't want to use your pc for gaming yet then those would be your cheapest options, I'd definitely recommend getting one used as you'll pay about half the price for it and you can either keep it as a troubleshooting card or sell it for pretty much what you bought it for.

A diamond in the rough

If you can manage to scoop one of these up, do it. The pricing was fair (especially the way the market is currently) when I purchased this early February. I did notice Lenovo increased their pricing recently, which is disappointing, but it's still better than most of the market. Best of luck out there, stay safe and be well

Power Consumption

Works great even my 7 year old intel core i3 LGA 1156 MSI motherboard running Windows 8.1

Not a deal breaker but something to be aware of. Low power consumption!! I used my kill-a-watt meter and on one computer the power consumption was identical to the core i3 with built in video and on the computer I am using now it is around 3 to 5 watts extra at idle compared to before I installed the video card. Running temperature is very cool - I ran the MSI torture test and put my hand on the fan-less heat sink and it was barely warm! Normally it is room temperature. Excellent

Looks like a good value for money grahics card.

I have an Acer TC-885 desk top which came with a 2 gb HDD and I added a spare 1 gb drive I had laying around. I didn't like the on board graphics as you can't change the resolution as its greyed out so I bought a Gigabyte graphics card with a passive heat sink that took up 2 spaces. Now 2 years on I wanted to fit a 1tb SSD as the boot time was slow but the MB had no more sata sockets. No problem, I bought a PCIe dual sata card for the 1 tb HDD but the gigabyte card covered the slot with its heat sink

Being a 17.3" it offers better cooling than the standard 15" models. If you want more RAM or storage you just need to remove the bottom panel and everything is accessible from there.

Rev 1 still running strong. It's still got a few tricks up its sleeve.

When I purchased this card, it was substantially less expensive. I actually purchased it as an upgrade from my Radeon card (not to say that AMD is any less of a brand, nor Radeon any less of a GPU, but I needed hardware compatibility for the IRay render engine as well as VR readiness). However it still competes with the current video cards, and I've put it up against not only games, but also some industrial applications like AutoCAD, Photoshop, and Maya.
