Nikon D3500 vs Nikon Z9

Moving to ISO 12800 we see noise tick up above 1.5 percent, and we also see details drop precipitiously. You can set the camera as high as ISO 25600, but I wouldn't recommend it when shooting in JPG format—images are blurry and show very little fine detail.

Unfortunately, its autofocus system is very basic, with only 11 detection points. It's not especially reliable when it comes to face or object tracking. Also, it isn't the best option if you're interested in recording video since it can't record in 4k, and its FHD video quality is mediocre overall. Despite that, it's still one of the best cameras to start photography with, and most beginners will be happy with it

I’m absolutely blown away by the Nikon Z 9. The pure speed of the autofocus and how well the focus sticks to the subject is too hard to describe in words. The build quality is top-notch, and the sensor shield is a much-needed touch that all mirrorless cameras should have. The camera powers up and powers down quite quickly as compared to the Z 6ii

Get the Canon if you want 4k video capability and a fully articulated touchscreen, but if you're new to DSLRs, the Nikon is a great alternative budget option.

Recording 4k 60 FPS internal LOG is amazing, and the VR option makes you easily hand held many shots. on Video, the subject tracking is fantastic as well, and very easy to switch from face detection to subject tracking . This is truly the BEST nikon Camera in the last 15 years at least, and it can beat many sony and canons out there. it sucked lol. Using a D3500 with a nikon 17-55 2.8 lens. I couldnt auto-focus on anything because it was so dark, and the lens wasnt letting me manually focus! I switched it to M instead of MA on the lens but when I was spinning the dial it wasn't focusing, I was trying to make it infinty focus

Speaking for myself, I decided to stick with Nikon because of the lenses and because I'm used to their ergonomics. I could have swapped over to Canon instead of going with the Z7ii, but I chose not to.

and, they even managed to screw everything up by going to a 55mm filter. After a hundred and 57 years of 52 mm filters this kit 18-55 zoom requires a 55mm filter. and then there's The annoyance of the constant reminder that you need to extend the lens first before you can start shooting.

maybe a z7ii and z lens would be a better option. I am thinking about the same thing. I have a d500, d850 and z6ii. Thinking about selling and buying the z9 but frankly I wonder just how long that would take for it to be available

To be honest, the only reason why I bought this was because all modern digital cameras lack the manual control functionalities of the camera. Nowadays, everything is "automatically" managed by the computer within the camera which, in most cases, ruins the pictures. I am so glad that I made the switch to this camera! It does everything that my other cameras does not do! It allows me to manually adjust the focus, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance, and so much more! I will admit that the camera can be a bit "much" to those who are new to the DSLR universe, but I will say that after you play with the camera for a while, you will know all of the menus, options and their locations like a pro! What I love about this camera is that you have the ability to switch out the stock lens for a macro lens (those insane close up photos) or for a telephoto lens (for those far distant pictures) if you choose! For me, personally, the stock lens does more than enough, but if I have the urge to buy one of the other lenses, I can do that because the camera is made for expand-ability! Contrary to what others may say, personally, I believe that the JPEG images are super clean and crisp. While you are not supposed to use JPEGs for post-production, I believe you can get away with some minor post with these files
