No, it's definitely better, so don't draw any conclusions based on what I just said here is what I was looking at with the SPS ultras before, and here is what it looks like after so another thing that I want to try is what happens if I take That microphone and I move it off access. So if I'm trying it, you know to the right to the left, do we end up with anything less than a linear response, and the answer is no, which is a good thing. So this is where a lot of the hardware and software that I've used in the past it just it was awful because yeah it corrected what you're hearing on access

NAD M10 Review! 10 Things for Audiophiles!

 This is what brits like to call pratt pace, rhythm and timing. I do think that the the new nad matches the name in that respect. The nad is also a little bit more lit up in the lower treble than the name, which i would call a little bit softer and a little bit rounder, which is no bad thing, and that makes the nad m10v2 perhaps better suited to maybe warmer loudspeakers or Thicker sounding speakers, like the bookart s400 mark ii, that we made a video about last week. However, the nad gives us that squeegee clean transparency that i talk about a lot these days, that the name unity atom really can't muster now how you feel about this will largely fall to your listener type

 It'S heavily filtered and focuses on the sort of upper mids, so it kind of just fills out the recording a little bit and it's really really good for live albums like lcd sound systems shut up and play the hits, but also with the tv feeding the nad Using hdmi arc, i can now tap 5.1 surround content from netflix and what the nad does is converts that into 4.0 or 4.1 sound channels

 So all we have to do is fuss a little bit over the gain on the sub and maybe position, but i think i've got that pretty much sorted in this room for now and we don't get base management from the name. The name just asks us to feed our subwoofer from its preamplifier outputs in what we generally call augmentation mode. Now, when listening to that deadbeat ep, i much prefer the nad's take on events on musical events and maybe that's down to the fact that the nad gives us high pass filtering on our mains, whereas the name does not. And if you're at all confused by what i just said, then you need to listen to episode 30 of the darko audio podcast

 Because are you ready for this? We don't all listen for the same things. We might think we do but subconsciously. That might not be the case. So, if you're somebody who really gets off on sort of the ultra resolution of sound and being able to see all the tiny details, then you're likely going to prefer the nad m10 v2

The NAD M10 V2 is EVERYTHING

 Yes, it's a little bit more opaque than the NAD, but it sounds like it's in more of a hurry to get through music and it has - and this is the big difference. Actually, it has more punch than the NAD, which often comes off as sounding very beautiful and very pretty, but a bit polite with dynamics. One of my favorite American bands is giants, and I've been listening to a lot of giants and this week and in trying to conclude the differences between the name and the NAD. In short, pithy statements, I would say that the NAD is cooler tonally, but more transparent than the name, and the name is a bit warmer and offers us more impactful dynamics

 It also has a slightly wider soundstage and I think it's a little bit taller, but sometimes I think it is and just as I think it is it's not so, in contrast, the name sounds a little bit more opaque, but in roon it requires a lower volume. Setting, even though this is rated, I think it's and the NAD is a hundred this. You have to bring the volume slider down a little bit. This feels like the more powerful amp with more Headroom

 The first is super tight bass. The second is transparency in the extreme, and the third is a very finessed delivery of surface textures, one Darko audio reader emailed me saying John, please be really harsh on the m10. I want to know what I'm missing from the big Hagel amplifier that you use. Quite often, you get a more incisive top-end from the m10 with these habits

Arylic A50 / A30 is a budget-y all-in-one streamer amp. Not just BT, but also Wi-Fi. I'm using the A50 with a pair of Tannoy Mercury and it's great for me - mainly Spotify and web radio.

There are loads of used CCA on eBay. I picked one up a couple of months ago. Works perfectly, still integrates with Google home with no issues and linked in through my Google assistant app. Still plenty of support for it on Google. So far as I can tell, they're not making them obsolete. They're just not selling them. 

I have a a similar setup, vinyl and Spotify. CCA is on my main amp and works just fine.  I have a multi-room setup, with 2x Google Nest Mini as a stereo pair in the kitchen. They make a speaker group with the CCA and I can play music throughout the house.

Hi all,

I’m putting together my first hifi setup with two main audio sources: Spotify and Vinyl. I’m find it it a little overwhelming trying to decide on the best approach to integrate both sources (+ ideally NAS streaming, Netflix, YouTube).

I currently have a pair of B&amp;W DM302 speakers and a Technics SL-1210mk2 and need to purchase everything else.

After some research, I had decide to go for a Chromecast Audio connected to an integrated stereo amplifier via Toslink. But it will be hard finding a Chromecast Audio and the lack of support from Google worries me.

What are the alternatives to this setup? I’ve seen people mention Raspberry Pi but I don’t really understand how that works - I’m not the most tech savvy guy. Other option is a network receiver with WiFi like the Yamaha RN303D.

Budget would be around £300/$400. There are a few audio shops here in the UK but I’d most likely buy online as all shops are closed at the moment.

Bonus: I have a Google home/nest in my kitchen so Chromecast would really be ideal as presumably I could also have a google based multi room setup.

Setup for streaming Spotify. Is there an alternative to Chromecast Audio?

 It was released in 2015-2016, so a refresh cycle is long time due, so I don’t feel good to spend $500 on a model that is expected to be refreshed in near future.

Good, but not great!

My journey started out because I wanted to power my wired outdoor speakers with a WiFi capable amplifier, so I could stream music from my phone. There were plenty of choices that were Bluetooth, but very few that offered WiFi connectivity that were reasonably priced. It seemed most choices were north of $600, and only a few that were under $200. I opted for an amp made by Pyle that was $80

 This time I spent a bit more, springing for $200 on a different brand. It arrived with a blown channel right out of the box. So I gave up, and gave in, doing what I should have done in the first place. Spend the money, and buy something of quality, which brings me to the Yamaha

Yamaha quality in a WiFi streaming stereo amplifier

 I selected ‘Join a wireless network’ for the Airport Express. You can find this under Wi-Fi Mode settings in the Airport Utility app. -I open MusicCast app on my iPhone, turn on the amp, and select Optical as the source. Note if you select Airplay under MusicCast that is Airplay 1 where it limits streaming only to the set of speakers connected to WXA-50 amplifier (in my case, Room1, the given name of my amplifier—avoid choosing this!!)

Starting with my Airplay 2 workaround for the WXA-50 since that's probably the reason you're reading this review.  Airport Express 2nd gen > toslink to mini toslink optical cable > WXA-50 amplifier  That’s it! Airport Express 2nd gen has Airplay 2 support so one day I tried connecting it to the amp and it worked no issue.  How I have things setup: -The Airport Express and WXA-50 are connected to the same 5GHz WiFi network. -I configured the Airport Express to my network using the Airport Utility app on my iPhone

YES you CAN Airplay 2 (with a workaround)

 While attempting to hook the amp to my wifi, the process was blocked by some security spamware pre-installed on my phone. Dismissing the popup it generated caused the MusicCast setup to crash. It wasn't until I disabled the "security" alert (and rebooted the amp) that I was able to complete the setup process.  Once done, I was enjoying a Pandora stream just minutes later

I picked this amp over a comparable Sonos unit because of my great experience with Yamaha equipment in the past. When I unboxed it, I was surprised and impressed with how heavy it was for its size. The buttons (and knob) have a nice smooth feel, and the box stays in place when you interact with it. (Pet peeve: equipment that slides around when you push buttons

 However, the MusicCast app only supports two major services directly: Pandora and Spotify. (Services like Deezer and TIDAL are supported as well, but I had never heard of them before.) Other streams need to be accessed through bluetooth or other input methods. I subscribe to Google Play Music, so this was a bit of a letdown

Great hardware, somewhat disappointed in the app

 Reason for 3 rating is that Musiccast app for Android, on three smartphones, loses synch whenever the device is switched off - which is done from a smartphone! Typical scenario is: take out smartphone, start Musiccast app, see the tab to demo or set up... grind teeth, put down smartphone, find IR remote, turn WXA-50 on, set to a programmed (internet radio) station

 Nor how long after switching on the device that the app regains synch. As delivered, I'd say the device-to-app interface is still in beta mode. I plan to keep the amp, as my old Yamaha receiver has issues on one channel and sounds not so good. Fingers crossed the Musiccast app improves and this synch/config issue is resolved with a software upgrade, or advice on how my network can be improved for same result
