So you could throw these outside and not worry about it if the wind gets to it or using it by the ocean. Relatively low risk. If something happens to it, you could easily replace it

 I'm not in a treated room, so you're probably hearing a little of the room noise as well, and I'm getting the audio straight into my iPhone and just pressing record, so I have it going into a mixer board, and my mixer board has a USB out. Then the USB is just going into adapter that then is going into my iPhone. If you are someone looking to record audio books or medical narration for example that is a real problem considering those don't have music so you only hear voice and voice only

Amazing mic for the money x3

 I guess that bar is getting just continually a little bit higher. But despite the somewhat nitpicky nature of this review, I do want to start off by saying, this is a very good mic. I think it's better than 90% of the offerings in this price range, and I prefer it to many of the competitors like the AT2020 or the Samson C01, maybe the Behringer B1. So bear that in mind, while I am pretty critical of this microphone, I think it's more based on the fact that I've seen so many glowing reviews of this mic

 That's the thing I wanted to do with this review. I saw so many reviews of this microphone just talking about how it's the perfect alternative to even more expensive microphones, and I just don't think that's true. It's a more honest review of this microphone. It's a more critical review of this microphone, but it's still a good microphone

 When we look at the 103 frequency response, we see this dead flat sort of plateau in the high end. In my opinion, this dead straight shelf, when combined with a really beautiful flat control of the mid-range, that's kind of the Neumann tone if you could dilute it down to a frequency response curve. In this aspect, the MXL990 begins to fall short, so the presence boost is noticeably less shelf-like, meaning there isn't this sort of consistent, almost compressive quality to the high end. It's sort of what you would expect from a mildly bright, mildly mid-range focused microphone

 Perhaps one of the reasons that this microphone is held in such high regard are its subtle allusions to a microphone much more expensive than itself, that being the Neumann TLM103. The silver, greenish, champagne hue of this microphone harkens back to vintage Neumanns. Its form factor is very reminiscent of a TLM103, and it's not uncommon to see in the comments, or in the Discord, which you should go join, that this is the budget TLM103. You know, in this microphone's marketing, when you go on the website, there's a lot of buzzwords that they like to throw around to make it sound fancy

Bro, invest in the Rode NT1 not the NT1A. Also, get the one with the custom black shield. The mic is a flat response/signal mic, meaning it captures your true voice when recording.

i’ve had my Rhode microphone for a while now, i have it setup at home, i record vocals with it, often singing/rapping. At the start i noticed the mic was very bright, to the point it’s just too harsh, the mids and the highs are way too sharp.

I have the mic connected to a behringer umc22 (i know this is like the cheapest interface you can buy but i’m working on a budget) and this goes into my laptop, straight into fruity loops.

i used to be able to deal with it, and the person who mixes my tracks also could deal with it. but i’ve used other microphones and the difference within the final track is very noticeable. i’m tempted to buy a new microphone, but first i wanted to post this to see if there was any solutions.

Problem with the Rode NT1-A

Unfortunately, I got a defective one and had to return it the next day it came in. It had a sound like if I was in a wind tunnel. I already own one and I absolutely love the microphone. but the new one that I got from here was faulty or something

Fantastic Mic, but...

 I will say that you definitely get what you pay for. My only issue is that this mic is a bit heavy on the high ends. I have to be aware of the sss sounds that I make because they can get a bit annoying. I use a deesser to help but for the price I probably should have gotten a shure condenser

. Either way when I recorded my acoustic guitar through it, the tone was astounding! I use this mic for my Podcast so, like I said, it's a bit essy. Some people like rich highs so it's not necessarily a bad thing. Overall I'm very impressed and I still say it was worth every penny

 Noise rejection is superb and the sound quality is fantastic. The shock mount and pop filter are high quality and work perfectly. If you're looking to break into professional voice over or podcasting work then you already know this mic is one of the best you can get without spending hundreds more. I highly recommend purchasing the Focusrite Solo and the AKG k240 headphones to go with it

 Consider this: you've got a drum kit all miked up and you've got one or two of these units on hand... Stick 'em in the room! Don't put a Radio Shack banger in the corner, use something that will soak up your room for all it's worth

 There's a characteristic 'bump' in the high end that comfortably hugs the upper contours of my voice, and -- as advertised -- there's such little inherent noise that you crank up this mic and you will hear the birds clearly through a closed window. My drummer bought one through repeated experience of liking the sound more than his own large-diaphragm side-address mic. Consider this: you've got a drum kit all miked up and you've got one or two of these units on hand.
