Dagan Reviews the MXR Sugar Drive - Sweeter Than A Klon Pedal!

 Hey guys, it's Dagen from PMTV UK, and this little guy right here is the new MXR Sugar

 So off the bat, this little guy sounds amazing, but it is quintessentially a f***ing Clon

 If you couldn't hear what I said there, this is based off those magical pedals from the

 early 90s I believe, or sometime in the 90s, which now go for lots and lots and lots of

 I had a picture of like a man and a dog combined on them.

 They were great things, but they're a lot of money now, and it's kind of, the mystique's

 kind of wearing off, because people are starting to realise it's actually all in the fingers,

 but where does he get this lovely little sound from?

 And it's kind of from my pedal, and this is MXR Stab at it.

 Some of the specs about this guy, obviously it's a nice modern pedal, so it's tiny, it

 runs on a 9 volt power supply, there's a level control, a tone control, and a volume control.

 Lovely small footprint as well, so it can fit on your nice minuscule board, or be a

 nice little addition to your already massive board.

 The way it works as well is the level is obviously the volume of the effects, the tone control

 kind of just, it doesn't really get any duller or brighter, it just kind of adds a lot more

 to it, it expands the sound, it's a cracking little device.

 And the drive control is obviously the drive, but it kind of works as a mix, so the more

 drive you add, the more of the drive signal you lose, and when it's max it's just fully

 driven signal, but when it's half way you've kind of got, not parallel, but like a lot

 of clean and a lot of dirt going through at the same time.

 It is 9 volt in like I said, but it doubles that up inside, so it runs on 18 volts, so

 It's very sensitive to your fingers, sensitive to your volume control, like the ones back

 You can leave this guy always on in your chain, and just ride the volume on your guitar, and

 I think I was getting a bit too ahead of myself there before, sorry about that.

 This guy has got so much headroom in it, I'm just going to play with the volume control

 on the guitar, and this is what it sounds like.

 So dynamic to your pick attack, and the volume on your guitar, it's quite something.

 Let's bring it right back now and see what this guy sounds like.

 Just for reference though, here's the dry signal.

 I really hope this is coming along nice on YouTube, because these pedals, these types

 of pedals are known to be like kind of nice seasoning on your sound.

 So it's more of a feel thing, it's more of like a tonal thing, so I really recommend

 YouTube's got a horrible habit of compressing everything that goes up on it.

 So if you don't get the full effect of this, come in and try one out.

 Finally, I think the last thing I've got to say about it is, it's the kind of overdrive

 where you play a full chord, like you rock a whole G chord, and it's nice and saturated,

 especially when the drive's all the way up so the blend is full.

 You can hear every single note in that chord, you can hear every single string vibrating,
