Its well worth the money, just wish it was a little more robust in terms of Ram and CPU. Although for normal and slightly advanced home use its adequate. I recommend this router, much easier to set up than the Ubiquiti router I had before.

I WFH full time now and Comcast has cost me several days work so I got a 5G backup and needed a way to connect both of them. This has done a great job, wasn't hard to set up, and has a bunch of features that I'm not using if I want to geek out later.

I will likely buy a second MikroTik security gateway as a backup since they are so reasonably priced, and keep it one firmware and OS update behind as a sort of rollback option.

You'll spend hours trying to get this bad boy to work; but if your time is worth more than minimum wage, it'll cost you far more in time than whatever you save by buying this thing instead of a fancy consumer-oriented router. Unless you know the nitty-gritty of networking or enjoy endless menus where you enter random numbers in boxes labeled with random letters to obtain random dialog boxes with error messages interpretable only by Satan, pick something else.

This router has performed well with occasional glitches: timeouts on IP assignments through my AP (also Tp-link), fairly regular IP assigned with wireless that work fine locally, but report (correctly) they can't reach the internet where no issue is apparent in logs of this router or the AP. Customer service is responsive, but resolution of the failed DHCP issue required turning all optimization parameters off, while only using one, but improved. Biggest concern is hardware change and TP-link has done this before: V2 has substantially better hardware specs but the only way to know is manual comparison of data sheets. Since IPV6 support was promised, then apparently had a soft rollout, customers and customer support had to ask to find out, while some newer versions were offered and old version received

IIRC, I had to turn of SSH on the external interface, filter BOGONs and a coupla other things. No major changes. I think the link I followed was Manito Networks or something like that. Still, this is the best router out there for under ~$150, and it's been rock solid since installing it
