My cymbals comprise A & K Zildjian, HH & HHX Sabian and Meinl Byzance. I have managed to procure most of my equipment at huge discounts and they suited the sonic demands I had, thus I jumped for the same, brands irrespective. Hence, I would definitely buy any additional item, brand irrespective, as long as it sounded great or the deal was too darn good.

maybe there are posts like this, but I frequently wonder why nowadays it's so infrequent to have people with mismatched drums, heads and cymbals. I get having a preference, and I have mine, a lot of my cymbals are Meinl because I really like them, and most of my heads are from Evans since I like their products, but still I have Tama, Drumcraft and Pearl drums in my kit, Evans and Remo heads (no 2 models are equal), Meinl, Sabian, Diril, Istanbul Mehmet cymbals and Zultan, because I feel they give me the sound I'm searching for, but a lot of the times I see people so obsessed with having everything of the same brand, and by talking to them I see a lot of the times they sacrifice sound for it. 

I wanna know what you think about it. If you have everything matching in your set, why and if you don't the same question. Also, if you saw a drum, a head or a cymbal that would crack your matching set, but would be the perfect sound for you would you just "crack" your matching set?

Sounds Vs Brand Loyalty

I’ve had my 21” Meinl Byzance Transition ride for several years. It has a super dry, yet demanding sound. I used it mainly for rock gigs, and it definitely took the abuse. I love the sound of it

I was watching Aaron Gillespie’s sound legacy on YouTube and he mentioned the 22” k light ride and 22” k con renaissance rides were both crashable. He also mentioned the k con ren was his favorite cymbal in the world. I’m looking for opinions because the difference between these cymbals is about $250 depending on used/new/which website etc. 
•I play alternative stuff and some heavier rock 
•I’m looking for something that sounds great as a ride and a crash, but in the 22” category
•I’m looking for something that has good attack on the edge and stick definition on the bow but doesn’t sound super bright 
•willing to branch out on brand so I’m open to anything
•I’m not in a location where I can easily try out cymbals in person so any videos are appreciated and helpful

 Both have very pleasing overtones that in no way overpower the instruments but enhance the musicality and richness they provide. Worthy of note is that unlike some of the other 16-inch crashes we've reviewed, this particular model sounds full and warm despite its relatively high pitch. The 20-inch ride displays many of the same qualities as the rest of the selection, giving a crisp, clear, clean tone when played quietly but opening up with a much beefier sound when laid into a little bit more. Like the crashes, it has a healthy amount of wash which rather than overpowering the cymbals clarity actually enhances the overall sound produced

 Let's take a closer look. Let's take a closer look. Out of the box and on the stands, these cymbals have an instant familiarity about them. In use the 14-inch hats give a clear, clean and bright tone with an excellent stick definition and a pleasingly musical overall tone

 Construction wise these cymbals are about as perfectly made as you can get with each having a lustrous sheen and uniform lathering and hammer marks across the selection. Although the 2002 range is often referred to by many as a predominantly rock set thanks to their cleanness and tonal depth, we can see them being equally at home in a multitude of different styles. Pop, gospel, country and funk players would enjoy their clarity and body while they shouldn't be ruled out for quieter styles where the excellent stick definition would ensure they would be easily heard. Coming in at £939 for this set they are certainly an investment but if you're in the market for a set of great sounding instruments that will last you a long time and have a good degree of history behind them they are well worth checking out but why not let us know what you think

Paiste 2002 Cymbals - Drummer's Review

 Peisty's 2002 range dates back to the early 1970s, when rock drummers needed more powerful cymbals in order to be able to compete with the high and increasing volume of rock music at the time. New for 2019, Peisty have launched these Extreme Crashes, which are designed to take things even further with more brightness and more volume as well as more durability. The Extreme Crashes are handmade out of B8 bronze like the rest of the 2002 range, and they're available in 18", 19", and 20-inch sizes, all of which we have here today for review. Pricing-wise, the 18-inch lists at £305, the 19-inch at £330, while the 20-inch comes in at £354, though we have seen online retailers selling for a fair bit cheaper than this

 At the same time, they've got enough variation in tone and pitch to be easily distinguishable. The 19-inch stood out to us as probably the most balanced of the bunch, where the 18-inch is perhaps a little bit too high-pitched to work as a main crash, though it would make a good secondary crash for fast accents, while the low voice of the 20-inch creates a huge wash of energy that doesn't necessarily cut through the mix all that well. Obviously these aren't subtle, pretty or versatile sounding cymbals, and in the studio you might find that the extra volume actually creates more problems than it solves, but for their intended use of cutting through loud amplified instruments in a live context, they could be just the ticket. While these are quite pricey crashes, one major aspect to bear in mind is the advertised durability, which could be a huge bonus for players who are used to regularly destroying crashes and could drive up their value for money once you factor in the cost of buying replacement cymbals over time

Overall, we're feeling a little bit conflicted about these cymbals, to be honest, so we'd love to know what you think

 Great hi-hat tone. Killer for rock music. Let me play a rock beat for you right now and show you what I mean. Now I'm going to switch it up for you for just a second

 They won't necessarily be louder or anything like that, just you'll have a warmer lower pitch sound. So these are the 15 inch big beat hi-hats. Great hi-hat tone. Killer for rock music

 Now the bell. Buzzing to the ear and not harsh at all and we'll cut over the top of maybe loud guitars, loud organs, anything like that. Now with the tip of the stick. So even though I call these rock and roll cymbals and they are great for rock and roll, they'll cut over anything, you could use these really in any style of music

 I keep telling you these are rock and roll cymbals, but they sound great, very quiet as well. So a quick little demonstration with these 2002 big beats and brushes. Because of the way these cymbals are made, the brush really gives a nice distinct sound when you play it quietly. There you have it everybody, Pisci 2002 big beat cymbals
