M.S.L SP200 for a little under half price, well it just arrived today and I can't believe how much my Sundara's especially have improved, so much more open sounding and I don't have to have the bass cranked through PeaceEQ to get the slam I've craved from these headphones. So yeah, if you recently bought a new pair of planars or other hard to drive headphones, be extra sure you're driving them properly

It is surprisingly very neutral with just the right amount of "tubey-ness" in the low and high end, although it is difficult to notice this with some songs

 Not to mention the fact that it is balanced.  The only real downside is that the RCA input is quite poor in comparison to the balanced XLR inputs. When switching between the two whether I used the balanced out or 1/4" output I noticed a genuine increase in overall quality using the XLRs. I assume that this is because it is a $100 balanced tube amp which is genuinely amazing in its own regard, so clearly the R&D went into that aspect of things

As everyone else has said, the P20's build quality is something else at this price. It is made of aluminum and feels sturdy. Definitely punches above its weight class in this regard. The overall design is to be praised too; it is intelligent, compact and simple to use and understand

A well built, surprisingly neutral amplifier.

 Try using a well made 3 amp power supply if you can find one. Next, hooking it directly to the headphone output of my iPad Mini 4 resulted in loud, random crackling sounds. WTF? OK, so I moved to using it with my JDS Labs ODAC DAC hooked to my Apple PowerMac desktop and the loud crackling stopped. But, wait, what is going on with the highs? They sounded strident and distorted and not in a good tube way

 Oh, and Loxjie absolutely needs to put an Off/On switch on this thing. That's right, there is none. It turns on as soon as the power plug is inserted. You can push in the wiggly front knob to turn in on/off but I would much prefer to see a rocker switch on the back for power

 Given the flakey, under amp'ed switching power supply they include, I would NOT want to leave this thing running 24x7 due to heat and fire concerns with this cheap power supply.  Finally, don't expect this unit to produce full blown "tooobe sound". I have an inexpensive Chinese Qinpu Q-2 from several years back that I bought for the same price that does much better in this regard. This is not the headphone amp you want for creating lucious tube sound

 Ah, much better. More defined bass and the strident, distorted highs went away.  I did all the initial testing with the unbalanced audio-in and the unbalanced audio-out jacks. Yeah, this headphone amp is suppose to be audio nirvana using the XLR balanced jacks but it should also perform at least with decent sound on the far more common unbalanced jacks

First Impressions are OK, Requires Mods

  Power: 5/10: now this is where this amp truly finds its downside and such becomes its true demise. I find that almost all of my headphones struggle to reach an enjoyable volume. Fostex t50rp modhouse argon, t50rp zmf classic, t50rp Mayflower electronics version vi, hifiman he400i, he4xx, he560 v2, he500, he1000, hifiman editionX v2, hifiman susvara, hifiman ananda, hifiman sundara, advanced alphas, mrspeakers aeon, mrspeakers ether c flow, audeze lcd2's, audeze lcdx, monolith m1060, monolith m1060c, Sennheiser hd660s, hd650, hd600, akg k712, audioquest nighthawk, beyerdynamic dt880 premium (600ohm), beyerdynamic dt1990, grado ps2000e, AudioTechnica ATH-A2000z and several others all struggle desperately to reach reasonable volumes. Some of those I listed can be enjoy with this amp but it comes at the cost of having the loxjie p20 completely maxed out and turned all the way up

 With that said though if you have moderately efficient to very efficient headphones (especially if you have balanced efficient headphones)b then this amp is a total and complete win. It looks nice, it's built nice and has one of the cleanest sounds I've heard for under $150 and I've heard very very very many. Despite not having a true tube sound it's still very warm and pleasant. It's s nice relaxed sound for easy listening

 If any at all. Despite being a "tube" amplifier this actually sounds very much like a solid state amp with exceptionally clean sound. Now this could just be that the stock tubes are crap and I've ordered several sets of much better and higher quality pairs to test this. Will update later on to announce my findings

 Honestly can't get any better for this price.  Sound: 7/10: this is where it gets tricky..

 At the time of this review, its only in its 1st hour of play time. This being my first tube, the sound is surely not neutral. But it adds flavors towards my preference greatly. Compairing this to the default amp from iFi zen dac v2 or my JDS Labs Element 2, p20 ramps up more on sound stage and deep bass

Tube amp under $100, i have nothing to complain about. Right out of the box it sounded great. At the time of this review, its only in its 1st hour of play time. This being my first tube, the sound is surely not neutral

 With an integrated class D amplifier good for 125 watts into 8 ohms, this will drive almost every speaker you plug it into. I can think of very few that this will not be sufficient for. And another great point about the amp in this unit, it's been measured and tested and shown that even at its price point, it performs exceptionally well, even more so than things that cost twice as much. That was a great surprise to me

 What I mean by that is that it does everything the port does with all the great compatibility and streaming features, but has its own speaker amplifiers built right in so you can just connect it up to almost anything. And it's got the power to drive almost anything. With an integrated class D amplifier good for 125 watts into 8 ohms, this will drive almost every speaker you plug it into. Sonos Amp Review

 Can get decently loud (shrill) with my Sonus Faber Sonetto 1s. Definitely benefits from a subwoofer because the speakers can actually do far more with a higher current amp. With this amp, you just won't get the slam without a sub.  It's ok for now but I can see myself upgrading to a Hegel, NAD or Peachtree

 This is an obvious money grab. You HAVE to get a connect if you wanted to run your own power amp, even though it would have cost pennies for sonos to add a digital output..

..  Another star off for not being able to export/backup my playlists. This is a feature request that has been ignored by sonos for years on their community forums

 It's everything sonos isn't. I'll be selling the sonos and not looking back. I think I get far more for my money with the NAD, despite the higher price bracket.

It's... Convenient and clean sounding. Not very punchy at 4ohms. Compromised.

 Although it has a ton of features, it is quite expensive. But I will say if you're able to go and pick these up on the used market, which they hold their value really well. So even still, they will be expensive, but not six hundred and forty nine dollars expensive. So if you can happen to go out and pick them up on the used market, then I actually do think that these are a fully functioning, perfect solution for pretty much any scenario you've got

 And it is built in a way that it is one you talk. So if you're somebody who has a lot of equipment in a network rack, then this fits within one you, which is amazing and great. And it's actually nine inches by width and length, meaning that you can put two of these side by side as well in a you and not run out of space, which is something that Sonos listen to their customers about and made specifically due to the customer's requests on the back here. You've got your power in

 What's also nice is that the amp comes with a phantom centre channel on board so for instance if you had a pair of in wall or bookshelf speakers either side of your TV the amp will take parts of the left and right audio and balance this out in the centre so you get the feeling the sound is coming from the centre as well as the left and right. You might like the sound of using a separate amplifier and speakers in case you want to upgrade them in the future. The Sonos amp can give you all the streaming capabilities you're after while still benefiting from the sound quality of a wired system as it outputs an impressive 125 watts of power per channel. You can also use the Sonos amp to power a set of permanent outdoor speakers for your garden or patio area

 So in the box you're provided with the amp itself, the mains power plug, setup guides and banana plugs for connecting speakers. You're not provided with a HDMI cable, RCA cable or ethernet cable so you will need to source those yourself if you need any of those. You'll notice it's a lot smaller than more traditional amplifiers as Sonos have tried to get away from the old aesthetic of amplifiers being bulky and taking up large amounts of space. On the front of the product it's quite minimalistic with a play pause button and volume controls which you can also use for skipping tracks or grouping with your wider Sonos system in case you are near your amp and you want quick control without needing to open the Sonos app

 That means that you can keep any of your favourite third party speakers at home and integrate these with the Sonos app so you can stream music to them or group them with other Sonos speakers around your home just to name a couple of features. The amp is sold in RRP of £599 and is available in this stalf black colour only. So in the box you're provided with the amp itself, the mains power plug, setup guides and banana plugs for connecting speakers. You're not provided with a HDMI cable, RCA cable or ethernet cable so you will need to source those yourself if you need any of those

 If we look at the back of the amp you've got your mains power connection here and the join button for connecting to your WiFi wirelessly which we see on other Sonos speakers. The binding posts for connecting up to your speakers are here and Sonos actually supply banana plugs in the box so the wire can be fed through the hole on the banana plug and then just slotted into the respective channel on the amp to create a stereo pair. You've also got a very useful lining for connecting other audio components such as a turntable or CD player that you'd like to integrate into your Sonos system at the same time. What's great is that not only does it automatically detect your line in source when it's active but once you've established that line in connection with your audio component you can then share that audio around your home to other Sonos speakers wirelessly
