Like many others here, I have absolutely loved this pedal. But my second one just crapped out on me, and I’m really surprised Line 6 hasn’t improved the overall quality of this product, given its popularity. I mean, come on - it’s housed in a heavy duty metal box; but all the inner workings are incredibly cheap: those stomp buttons?? If you open one of these things up, the stomp buttons simply depress a piece of metal attached to the circuit board. It’s the piece that gets the most wear and tear - and it’s horribly designed

A Frustrating Product

 Plus, I have more repeats on it, and I also have it set up in a way where I'm using it for a more textural kind of vibe. So this is when it gets more of a psychedelic vibe, and I'm trying to create, or maybe even improvise a certain mood. I've used to do this a lot in the more jam band kind of gigs that I used to do. What I'm going to do in this one is I'm going to show you another effect that I like a lot

 And if you look down, you can see that it's set at an analog delay. I've got the tap tempo going and you'll hear those repeats. And what it does is it just kind of adds an elasticity to your lead tone and it's not like super psychedelic. A lot of like Joe Bonamassa, Eric Johnson and so many others, they like to have a little bit of just a little bit of echo on their lead guitar and country guitar players do that as well

 So that's another thing that's really cool about it and the other feature that this pedal has which I've seen people use is it has a built-in looper. You have to actually put it into the looper setting mode but you can actually create loops and jam over it and I used to do that with this pedal before I went and bought my own standalone looper pedal. Now the benefit of having your own looper pedal as opposed to using the Line 6 for your loops is the Line 6 I believe only does like 11 seconds long of a loop whereas you know standard looper pedals can go for minutes and minutes and minutes. So you know it depends on what you're what you want to use it for but the actual length of looper for this DL4 is not very long but it does have a looper built into it so that's really fun as well and you know it's hours and hours of fun and creativity and I've had I think this is the third one I've had I used to use them for gigs all the time and kind of stomped on them too hard but you know very versatile effect pedal to add to your arsenal once you've got a nice overdrive that you've picked out

 It's a delay modeler. As you can see it's the really cool green color in Green Goblin. But this DL4 you've probably, man I see this delay modeler in probably more Rockstars pedal boards than almost any other pedal. So I figured it was a good one to cover

 I got another one refurbished and it works unreliably. This pedal so, so awesome except for the fact that I don't trust it at all in performance. I am waiting for the Ditto X2 to come out this year because it's the only other thing I can find with these effects options that's less than a few hundred dollars. My DL4 is going directly into the trash at that point

I've had an Echo Park on my board for a couple years. They're like a small box version of the DL4 if I'm not mistaken. Awesome pedal and it's never had any problems.

I would be interested to hear some first hand opinions before I pull the trigger on one:

-	Have you had one for years without any issues? 
-	Have you had one fail? If so, after how long? and could you fix it?
-	Is it worth spending the time/effort replacing the switches / other components?
-	What similar alternatives are there besides the Strymon Timeline / TCE Flashback X4?

Make sure to unplugged after use to avoid power shortage. Dont stomp too hard on footswitches. Take care of them and they should last.

 Hey everyone, my name is Charlie Davis, I'm a longtime sales engineer, and I'm very excited to show you the brand new Line 6 DL-4 MKII. The first DL-4 was released back in 1999, and has been on countless professional pedal boards since its release. It was the first delay pedal that combined lots of different delay sounds to pick from, along with the ability to easily save presets. It also included a revolutionary looper that aside from acting like a standard looper, also allowed for sampling with half speed, double time, and reverse options

 For starters, the pedal now allows you to assign a global tap tempo. In the old version, your delay time was saved in each preset. You can still do that in the new DL-4, but you can also set it up so that all of your presets change tempo based on the tap control. This is great if you use multiple presets within the same song and just want to easily go between presets and keep the tempo the same

 There's one assigned to each of the delay spaces. To access them, you just hold down the ALT button while turning the knobs. Holding down that button also turns all the other knobs into controls for the reverb. Repeat is your decay time, tweak will control a different parameter for each algorithm, tweeze controls the order of the delay in the reverb, and the mix control controls the mix level of the reverb

 I bought mine back in the mid 2000s, and it was my first real delay pedal. Even to this day, when I have a lot of other delay pedals that I use and love, I'm still always really impressed with just how good this pedal sounds, and I love the ease of use. That said, after getting some time to dig in with the new MKII, I can say that everything I loved about the old version is still here, with some fantastic updates and modern features added. I've even thrown in some new tricks that I wouldn't have imagined

 Lastly, I'll turn up dimension and feedback to show how the modulation evolves with heavy regeneration. The Polymoon features a pair of barber pole phasers that take the already lush stereo image and stretches it to new impossibly wide horizons. The phasers can be set to a slow fixed rate, or set to follow the tempo in either whole notes or quarter notes. In this clip, I'll keep the dimension set high and sync the phasers to quarter notes

 First I'll play some distorted guitar with the Polymoon and bypass. Now, with the delay mix at minimum, I'll set the dynamic flanger to envelope down for a doubling effect. Next, I'll change the mode to envelope up, turn down the speed, and turn on the feedback for a dramatic sweeping effect. Here, I'll set the flanger mode to LFO for an undulating sound
