From the brilliant colors of the reef to the dark recesses behind the swarms of sharks I saw the same themes: an overall edge to the OLED TVs despite the TCL's brighter image. Netflix's nature documentary didn't show as much HDR punch and detail as the reference disc in general, and for that reason the TCL's brilliance didn't make as much of an impact

 The main “ENTER button is awkward because it has a scroll function on it (for scrolling on internet and “quick scroll for channels) and it should be placed higher up on the device (ergonomically speaking). Remote is a bit small for my hand and I am not a man. I have yet to find a “last channel” button :-( It has a RETURN button, but it doesn’t do what I would expect. And you have to go to another screen or channel up or down to view “program info”

 It will take some research to find out how secure my information is through LG. I am fairly new to the SMART TV world other than using my ROKU, and Firestick to access streaming media, so forgive this 62 year old (somewhat techy) lady for being a bit cautious. Great picture! Remote sucks. Smart Features

  The above setting tweaks could have made me almost happy if it weren't for some software bugs, I presume. Sometimes, when I turn on the tv, it seems to have forgotten some of the values and resets them to factory default. This is very annoying but I am confident that LG will sort that out with a software update eventually.  Where this tv has much improved is in the sound department

 Forget the AI SOUND in the settings, it's rubbish!  The smart features of the tv also have gotten an upgrade. With this newer version of WebOS, I am finally able to use Alexa or Google assistant as well as being able to stream from my Apple and Google devices. It makes things handy since I no longer have to connect any external smart boxes such as Apple TV or my NVIDIA Shield.  Overall, the tv is still better than any LCD LED-lit based tv

 This is very annoying but I am confident that LG will sort that out with a software update eventually.  Where this tv has much improved is in the sound department. Once you find the equalizer settings and tweak them to your liking, you may not want to hook up a soundbar. Of course, the built-in speakers won't replace a giant surround sound system but, with the correct settings, you get a very nice sound with even decent bass

 I understand it's there to protect the display but it's really not a good way to go with a tv if it needs to do that. The built-in speakers are pretty much trash. If you watch any episodic tv shows or movies you will want to add something that gives you better sound options.  If you nudge the wheel in the slightest while trying to hit the button, the D-pad cursor is erased and the motion cursor pops up, ready to immediately misclick whatever it happens to be pointing at at the time. Fortunately, the TV has an IR receiver and is fully supported by my 12-year old Harmony remote, so I'll hopefully never need to touch the remote again. - Likely stemming from WebOS's roots as a touch-based interface for phones, some items (such as bringing up series details in the Hulu PP) are brought up by long-pressing the OK button. Even Roku players, which bring minimalism in remote design to an art form, have a dedicated button for such things

An amazing OLED panel makes up for poor design & UI

MY PC GAMING EXPERIENCE :  rtx 3080 ftw ultra intel 10700k strix z490 mobo corsair 150 aio 32gb ram Zeskit Maya 8K 48Gbps Certified Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable  My biggest hurdle gaming with this tv was setting up 120hz refresh rate. So in the nvidia control panel in the resolution section the 4k 120hz setting was all the way at the bottom resolution scale, kind of hidden, had to scroll all the way down past the lower resolutions to find it. I was getting a crazy amount of tearing until I did this. You could probably mess with all the settings all day until you find what you like

 You have to have the money available at the time of the notice and act quickly. got it at msrp.+ tax. lucky day

pc gaming with rtx 3080

 Why it needs so many software patches, I do not know, I guess I'm glad it continues to receive support but it is concerning / annoying to say the least. Also, for $3k I would hope for a higher refresh rate, at least 240Hz which this TV is not. PC games look ok but could look worlds smoother with a faster response time.

 Furthermore, the speaker unit on the lower half of the screen is bulky and prevents the TV from being place close to a wall, which would take advantage of the thinness.  Second nitpick is the nature of the remote - in an age where most remotes have learned that less buttons are better, this remote has ALL the buttons, a scroll wheel, and a Wii-style waggle-cursor. It looks like something from 2008. Functionally, it's fine, and the waggle-function is growing on me

 It doesn't stick out much, but the fatter base of the TV prevents a really flush look. The build quality of the TV feels excellent, with a smooth metal back and plastic around the inputs that feels like brushed aluminum. Now let's get on to our test results. We'll start with the contrast

 Now let's get on to our test results. We'll start with the contrast. High contrast is important for deep and detailed dark scenes when watching in a dark room. Like other OLEDs, this TV doesn't have a backlight, and instead each sub-pixel can be controlled precisely

 A low input lag is also important for a responsive feel when playing video games, and like many new TVs this one performs excellently. There's a new prevent input delay setting on this TV which is effective at improving the input lag for 60Hz content for responsive gaming on an older console. The B1 also supports variable refresh rates, or VRR, for smooth gaming experience without any visual tearing, but surprisingly the input lag is slightly higher than the other OLEDs in LG's lineup. For most people this difference probably isn't noticeable though

 Unfortunately there can be ads on the home screen and app store without any way to disable them. This TV is also advertised to have a slightly different processor to the LG C1 OLED, but we didn't notice any impact on the smart feature performance. The sound of this TV is surprisingly good, with a bit better bass than most TVs, but you still need a dedicated subwoofer for real rumbling or punch to the low end. It's probably good enough for most people, but if you can afford it then a soundbar will produce better sound

 The purchase process became complicated and difficult, I won’t get into the details here, but the bottom line is that Amazon made it right, turning what had all the markings of a disastrous experience into a happy customer.

Wonderful picture, adventure in buying!

 The TV is a definite step up! The contrast, as advertised, is amazing (pixels shut off and the result is pure black). This may not be very noticeable in a well lit room. But in a dark room it makes all the difference! When the set goes into sleep mode, it may as well be unplugged! There's no glow at all on the screen. I'm not a gamer, but for regular viewing I think OLED is the best technology out there!

You have to get the settings right, but once correct it looks great. Navigation is somewhat cumbersome. Also, turn the refresh rate up to 120 in computer mode to get the good results.
