Now, the not-so-good stuff: the WebOS UI is quite slow and clunky. I expect a faster, smoother OS for my 2021 model TV. While yes, this is a significant improvement over the 2020 CX model, it's still slow and laggy. Installing apps is pretty simple and quick, but there's a lot of random bloat on the main home screen

The main “ENTER button is awkward because it has a scroll function on it (for scrolling on internet and “quick scroll for channels) and it should be placed higher up on the device (ergonomically speaking). Remote is a bit small for my hand and I am not a man. I have yet to find a “last channel” button :-( It has a RETURN button, but it doesn’t do what I would expect. And you have to go to another screen or channel up or down to view “program info”

Forget the AI SOUND in the settings, it's rubbish! The smart features of the tv also have gotten an upgrade. With this newer version of WebOS, I am finally able to use Alexa or Google assistant as well as being able to stream from my Apple and Google devices. It makes things handy since I no longer have to connect any external smart boxes such as Apple TV or my NVIDIA Shield. Overall, the tv is still better than any LCD LED-lit based tv

There are also sliders labeled Black Stabilizer (for adjusting dark areas) and White Stabilizer (for bright areas), as well as the OLED Motion Pro setting described above (LG says it's particularly useful for games) and the Reduce Blue light setting (said to be easier on the eyes). The C1 supported all advanced video features from my Xbox Series X, as advertised, including 4K/120 and VRR. Since I reviewed the G1 in April, LG has added a new status screen that appears whenever you hit the settings button while in Game Optimizer mode. Clad in aggressive purple, it displays current frame rate, picture mode, status of VRR, low latency (to reduce input lag) and Black Stabilizer

They are serviceable for watching the news or something simple like that but even then they come off as being tinny or hollow sounding. You can help this a little bit by manually adjusting the EQ but who calibrated the built in options must have been listening from a different room. All in all I would probably buy this TV again but I would probably look a little harder at non OLED options to really get a better sense of all the options they can provide.

Try before you buy if you can or just go into it for gaming. Update: 4/21/22 More app crashes randomly made me decide to take another star off the review. Every major streaming app has now had random crashes. Update 6/19/22 Sound is still an issue

If you nudge the wheel in the slightest while trying to hit the button, the D-pad cursor is erased and the motion cursor pops up, ready to immediately misclick whatever it happens to be pointing at at the time. Fortunately, the TV has an IR receiver and is fully supported by my 12-year old Harmony remote, so I'll hopefully never need to touch the remote again. - Likely stemming from WebOS's roots as a touch-based interface for phones, some items (such as bringing up series details in the Hulu PP) are brought up by long-pressing the OK button. Even Roku players, which bring minimalism in remote design to an art form, have a dedicated button for such things

Yup the picture quality is excellent and I guess that's why you pay top dollar for this premium TV. But I am crushingly disappointed by the quirky remote, the clunky user interface, the slim LD TV offerings and high latency when accessing LD TV, the uninspired selection of available apps, the superficial flexibility in choosing apps, the lack of customizability on several levels, the constant software updates, the inadequate instructional manuals, and the poor (or no) connectivity to the two other things I've tried to connect. More minor, I find the TV’s embedded marketing features to be irritating just on principle. I researched the heck out of this before I bought it and I'm seriously considering returning it

Read so many amazing reviews on and and make it happen no regrets! Everything about this tv is superb and future proof!

Why it needs so many software patches, I do not know, I guess I'm glad it continues to receive support but it is concerning / annoying to say the least. Also, for $3k I would hope for a higher refresh rate, at least 240Hz which this TV is not. PC games look ok but could look worlds smoother with a faster response time.

It also has variable refresh rate (VRR) support in the form of native FreeSync and G-SYNC compatibility to reduce screen tearing, and it has low input lag for a responsive feel. Motion looks incredibly smooth thanks to its near-instantaneous response time, and it has a backlight strobing feature to reduce persistence blur.

And maybe the bigger size will keep me from losing it in the couch like the AppleTV Remote.

Going with the mid-size option for my smaller living room was a great choice but consider the size you'll need to fill your space. The stand supports the TV well and feels very solid although it sits fairly low, so placing a soundbar in front blocks the screen a bit.
