The best TV we've tested in this size range is the LG OLED48C2PUA. OLEDs like this one are available in 48-inch sizes, so while it technically isn't the best 50-inch TV, the small difference in size isn't noticeable, and it delivers fantastic overall performance. OLEDs are different from other TVs because they can turn each individual pixel on and off, resulting in a near-infinite contrast ratio and perfect black uniformity, making it a remarkable choice for dark room viewing. Even if you want to use it in rooms with ambient light during the day, the reflection handling is remarkable and has good SDR peak brightness.

If you watch HDR content, it supports Dolby Vision, which is a common format among streaming devices. It displays a wide range of colors and has great gradient handling. Its HDR peak brightness is okay, but if you care about peak brightness, then consider the Samsung QN90B QLED, which gets even brighter, but its black levels aren't as good, and it costs more, so the LG still delivers the best overall performance.

We test input lag with an HDFury Diva 4K HDMI matrix(Opens in a new window) and measure how long it takes between when the TV receives a signal and the picture updates, which is vital for playing games. With Game Optimizer enabled, the C2 has an input lag of just 5 milliseconds (ms), well below the 10ms threshold we use to determine if a TV is among the best for gaming. This is with default settings in Game Optimizer mode; if you switch the Prevent Input Delay setting to Boost, the input lag drops to an incredibly low 1.5ms

LG C2 77-Inch Evo OLED TV (OLED77C2PUA) Review

 Like any OLED, it has a near-infinite contrast ratio that results in perfect black levels. Because OLEDs also turn each pixel on and off, it doesn't have a local dimming feature, as there's no backlight. There's no blooming around bright objects either, and it looks fantastic in dark rooms.  I called the number back 4 minutes after they called; for them to tell me there was no way to get a hold of the driver and I would have to reschedule. The delivery truck comes from somewhere in Houston TX and I live in college station tx which about 2-2.5 hours depending on traffic. They were in my drive way and because I didn’t answer my phone they are going to reschedule a delivery that it over a hundred miles away simply because they did not knock on the door

 They called my phone while I was in the shower and did not bother to knock on the door. They said no one was home and rescheduled the delivery. Sony Bravia XR 65-Inch Class A95K OLED TV Review

 Sound tuning uses the camera to see where viewers are and tunes sound to best suit their location in relation to the television. Finally, the camera can tell if anyone is in the room and if not, will automatically power down the display to save power. 

I don’t expect anyone to defy physics and make a thin television sound as good as a dedicated sound system, but I do applaud what Sony is doing to try and make the lemonade out of lemons. Like other high-end Sony displays, the A95K uses the surface of the display as a speaker, so sound comes directly out from behind the panel. The TV also has both left and right subwoofers that fire backward to help create a more natural soundstage. 

Sony says that it has tuned its virtualized sound to support Dolby Atmos and actually create 3D-sounding environments. It doesn’t quite get there and while it can do the left and right channels pretty well, the area between them is muddy – and forget about the top and bottom. 

The true next big step for OLED.
