LG C1 vs LG OLED48C1PUB

The sound from the LG speakers do amazingly well. I used it for several days with just these speakers and found them easy to hear voice. Since I'm older and listened to a lot of loud music when younger my hearing is not what it used to be. Kids today with their earbuds and headphones should really start to learn sign language now

Try before you buy if you can or just go into it for gaming. Update: 4/21/22 More app crashes randomly made me decide to take another star off the review. Every major streaming app has now had random crashes. Update 6/19/22 Sound is still an issue

TV works fine, but it's too big for our living room. I'm hoping one of my friends will buy it so I can move onto something else.

Going with the mid-size option for my smaller living room was a great choice but consider the size you'll need to fill your space. The stand supports the TV well and feels very solid although it sits fairly low, so placing a soundbar in front blocks the screen a bit.

There are also sliders labeled Black Stabilizer (for adjusting dark areas) and White Stabilizer (for bright areas), as well as the OLED Motion Pro setting described above (LG says it's particularly useful for games) and the Reduce Blue light setting (said to be easier on the eyes). The C1 supported all advanced video features from my Xbox Series X, as advertised, including 4K/120 and VRR. Since I reviewed the G1 in April, LG has added a new status screen that appears whenever you hit the settings button while in Game Optimizer mode. Now I had a "default" device, so to speak, that I could switch to before powering the TV off. When I powered the TV on, it would just turn on the Apple TV. Unfortunately, I wasn't a huge fan of the interface, controls nor the remote. Voice control was incredibly subpar

Yup the picture quality is excellent and I guess that's why you pay top dollar for this premium TV. But I am crushingly disappointed by the quirky remote, the clunky user interface, the slim LD TV offerings and high latency when accessing LD TV, the uninspired selection of available apps, the superficial flexibility in choosing apps, the lack of customizability on several levels, the constant software updates, the inadequate instructional manuals, and the poor (or no) connectivity to the two other things I've tried to connect. More minor, I find the TV’s embedded marketing features to be irritating just on principle. I researched the heck out of this before I bought it and I'm seriously considering returning it

The 5 stars is for the best picture quality you can get without going into the ridiculously high end home theater market (think Best Buy's Magnolia showroom where a single remote runs about $1,000, and only a professional has the security key to set it up).

You can press the back button to get the thumbnails to disappear, but they will only go away for a few seconds and then pop back up for a few seconds! WHO DESIGNED THIS?? And I made the huge mistake of changing the default picture setting to cinema mode when I thought I was just trying it out on a single show. I went back into settings to return to standard mode, but it always starts in cinema now - every time there is a new episode! - so I have to go back to settings and change back to standard EVERY SINGE TIME. Sooooooooo irritaging. AGAIN, WHO DESIGNED THIS THING? I would recommend waiting until the interface is drastically improved before buying the next version of this TV

TV is great in every category except in starting it and shutting it down ,sometimes it starts in its own if Roku not completely closed and setting transferred to cable before shutting it down

Now, the not-so-good stuff: the WebOS UI is quite slow and clunky. I expect a faster, smoother OS for my 2021 model TV. While yes, this is a significant improvement over the 2020 CX model, it's still slow and laggy. Installing apps is pretty simple and quick, but there's a lot of random bloat on the main home screen

And while the Samsung monitor does reach twice the refresh rate at 240Hz, compared to 120Hz for the LG, highly technical review sites like Rtings will tell you the LG is actually better when it comes to response time and blur (which is what we actually care about when we care about refresh rate). While I’ve been comfortable working that way for weeks, it’s simply not as much screen real estate as Samsung gives you.

It also has variable refresh rate (VRR) support in the form of native FreeSync and G-SYNC compatibility to reduce screen tearing, and it has low input lag for a responsive feel. Motion looks incredibly smooth thanks to its near-instantaneous response time, and it has a backlight strobing feature to reduce persistence blur.
