 The sound from the LG speakers do amazingly well. I used it for several days with just these speakers and found them easy to hear voice. Since I'm older and listened to a lot of loud music when younger my hearing is not what it used to be. Kids today with their earbuds and headphones should really start to learn sign language now

I have a 12 year old Sony W series 32 inch FHD TV and it is still going strong. Weird how yours went out so soon. I have another that is giving signs of end of life after approx 8 years of service.

Feel your pain i had a sony xbr55x930e that recently died too. Same issue with board. Seems sony tvs all from this time frame has the same issue. Sony forum  full of this.On the fence if I should stay with sony or move on. Any thoughts

This is why I went with the C1 when my tv of 5 years died recently. There’s no guarantee a tv is going to last nowadays, so I might as well get the best and enjoy it.

I'm still a little pissed, the mother board just went, I bought the extended warranty but it expired 6 months ago. It lasted 3-1/2 years and cost $2000, I still have a plasma from  more then 15 years ago I gave to a friend still going strong today.

It was a good tv, I wasn't blown away by it, I was a tiny bit disappointed because I did a lot of research at the time and it seemed great. By the time i bought it and spent some hours calibrating it I was kind of underwhelmed in the end.

Going with an LG C1 now, hopefully I have better luck with this one, I may try to get a motherboard for the sony and attempt to repair it some time, I just think 3-1/2 years is kind of bullshit.

RIP sony 55" X900F, lasted 3-1/2 years

 I have to say, though i do have one criticism about this tv, in fact, any current lg tv, and that is web os 6, this home screen menu, which, as you can see, takes a few seconds to populate. It is a good idea, show all the recent and popular shows across different apps up front, so you don't have to then go into each one to browse it's just a bit too slow. I would love an option whereby we just get a smaller, lower third menu. Like older web os versions, it would be faster, it would let you keep watching what's on in the background, while you navigate if lg's watching, then for me, i would love a full screen option and a minimized option for this home screen

 I did that straight away. You do also have the option to use the tv as a kind of iot hub for your smart home tech, although i don't have a smart fridge or washing machine just a bunch of philips hue lights and, to be honest, i do find the interface a bit Slow sometimes so it's not something. I'Ve really felt the need to use, but this thing is jam-packed with features chromecast, airplay, 2 alexa and the google assistant. You don't have to use any of these, but they're nice to have so far so good

LG G1 OLED TV Long Term Review - Still Worth Buying?

 Unlike Chromecast with Google TV, Nvidia's box promised Alexa control.  I named it "Living Room TV", deleted every trace of LG setup from my Alexa profile, and it works nearly perfectly.  It handles turning the LG C1 on and off over CEC quite seamlessly, even when I ask Alexa via Echo devices. It also supports more specific things like opening apps and rewinding by arbitrary time periods

 Now I had a "default" device, so to speak, that I could switch to before powering the TV off. When I powered the TV on, it would just turn on the Apple TV.  Unfortunately, I wasn't a huge fan of the interface, controls nor the remote. Voice control was incredibly subpar

  As a bonus, Google TV on the Nvidia Shield supports Chromecast, something my parents missed from the old Vizio when they came over.  ----- The Conclusion -----  I wall-mount my TV because of unsightly power sockets high up on my wall. If it was not so difficult to unmount this thing and pack it back into the box, I would have returned it a couple weeks in.  Now that the Nvidia Shield has solved *most* of my issues, the C1 is in a passable, usable state

 many hours over days to get picture modes and settings *just* right on a new TV. - I am extremely particular about user experience in software. Part of my professional work happens to involve some UX design. - I watch a lot of movies

A quarter in, I have 2400+ words of thoughts on the LG C1

  The magic wand remote is either a love it or hate it thing. I hate it. The default setting when you bring up the TV's options menu is to use the remote as a gyro mouse. All it takes is one press of the directional button to put the remote back into button mode, but A) the jump into gyro mode is disorienting, and B) try explaining to your 70-year-old parent how to deal with this innovation, and then get back to me

  The 5 stars is for the best picture quality you can get without going into the ridiculously high end home theater market (think Best Buy's Magnolia showroom where a single remote runs about $1,000, and only a professional has the security key to set it up).

O! LED, where have you been all my life?

 You can press the back button to get the thumbnails to disappear, but they will only go away for a few seconds and then pop back up for a few seconds! WHO DESIGNED THIS??  And I made the huge mistake of changing the default picture setting to cinema mode when I thought I was just trying it out on a single show. I went back into settings to return to standard mode, but it always starts in cinema now - every time there is a new episode! - so I have to go back to settings and change back to standard EVERY SINGE TIME. Sooooooooo irritaging. AGAIN, WHO DESIGNED THIS THING?  I would recommend waiting until the interface is drastically improved before buying the next version of this TV

The picture on this TV is wonderful, and the sound - no special sound bar - is great for TV. For music streamed, not on the TV, it could use more treble, but maybe I need to make an adjustment.  The problem is the interface. This TV is not so smart, and the remote is ugly and has been really hard to get used to

This TV cost over $1,000 and should have that basic feature so that you are not blasted with sound from a kid's cartoon when turning on the TV

Great Picture and Sound, Horrible Interface

TV is great in every category except in starting it and shutting it down ,sometimes it starts in its own if Roku not  completely closed and setting transferred to cable before shutting it down

Evaluation of LG OLED 65C1PUB

For instance, the Samsung has a tremendous 5120 x 1440-pixel resolution panel that stretches out across your entire field of view, practically letting you bathe in games or tasks. But the sheer size of LG’s 48-inch 3840 x 2160 panel also fills your view at what’s technically a higher resolution (8.3M pixels vs. 7

2 inches wide for the 48-inch LG, but it feels like the LG provides so much more screen in exchange. We’ve long made fun of small 16:9 laptop screens for being too short for productivity, but LG’s 24-inch-tall slab of pixels is far, far past the point where that’s an issue. Every time I swapped out the Neo G9 for the LG C1 (or vice versa), I had to ask myself why I would pay twice as much for a screen with the top and bottom chopped off when both fit fine on my 47-inch Ikea Bekant desk. 

And while the Samsung monitor does reach twice the refresh rate at 240Hz, compared to 120Hz for the LG, highly technical review sites like Rtings will tell you the LG is actually better when it comes to response time and blur (which is what we actually care about when we care about refresh rate). While I’ve been comfortable working that way for weeks, it’s simply not as much screen real estate as Samsung gives you. 

Still searching for endgame

  I've set it to my liking, but it turns out there's built in hardware to help calibrate the display! You do need a $160 calibrator and some software, but it's totally automated by connecting right to the TV over it's IP address.  And another welcome treat is software called ColorControl that's available on GitHub ( I believe it's open source ) that controls the TV so it'll turn off when the screensaver kicks in as well as sync turning it on and off to your PC's power state. It's really helpful when using this as a monitor.  It seems like C1's made later in the manufacturing cycle seem to be all WBE panels

 Overall, it's really the contrast that makes this thing shine so as long as you can control the lighting in the room, you'll be amazed.  Gaming is perfect. I've got a 3080ti hooked up, and it's good for perfect video with G-Sync (*compatible - it does not have a hardware board.
