There aren't any OLED TVs available at a budget price point, but the LG A2 OLED comes close. It's an excellent TV, delivering similar picture quality to the more expensive OLED TVs on this list, but it lacks all of the advanced features found on the other models. It still delivers stunning picture quality in a dark room, with deep, inky blacks that look perfect in the dark, with no distracting blooming around bright highlights in dark scenes.

The Editors&rsquo; Choice-winning LG C2 has perfect black levels and nearly perfect color, plus costs significantly less than either the A95K or the S95B ($2,999.99 for the 65-inch model). The A95K&rsquo;s crisp, clear sound and speaker connection make it a good choice if you want to integrate your TV into an A/V receiver-powered surround system but, otherwise, we recommend the LG C2 because of its superior picture quality and friendlier price.

 The spring terminals are notable if you want to incorporate the A95K into a home theater with existing stereo or surround speakers that get power from a receiver or amp. The connection is rare but the panel-vibrating actuators Sony uses in its OLED TVs are capable of the very crisp, clean sound necessary for the often dialog-focused center channel.

Sony Bravia XR 65-Inch Class A95K OLED TV Review

 Sound tuning uses the camera to see where viewers are and tunes sound to best suit their location in relation to the television. Finally, the camera can tell if anyone is in the room and if not, will automatically power down the display to save power. 

I don’t expect anyone to defy physics and make a thin television sound as good as a dedicated sound system, but I do applaud what Sony is doing to try and make the lemonade out of lemons. Like other high-end Sony displays, the A95K uses the surface of the display as a speaker, so sound comes directly out from behind the panel. The TV also has both left and right subwoofers that fire backward to help create a more natural soundstage. 

Sony says that it has tuned its virtualized sound to support Dolby Atmos and actually create 3D-sounding environments. It doesn’t quite get there and while it can do the left and right channels pretty well, the area between them is muddy – and forget about the top and bottom. 

The true next big step for OLED.
