There aren't any OLED TVs available at a budget price point, but the LG A2 OLED comes close. It's an excellent TV, delivering similar picture quality to the more expensive OLED TVs on this list, but it lacks all of the advanced features found on the other models. It still delivers stunning picture quality in a dark room, with deep, inky blacks that look perfect in the dark, with no distracting blooming around bright highlights in dark scenes.

The best 65 inch 4k TV we've tested is the LG OLED65C1PUB. It's an excellent overall TV that displays perfect blacks thanks to its OLED panel. This means that it has a near-infinite contrast ratio, and there's no blooming around bright objects either, making it a fantastic choice for watching movies in dark rooms. We tested the 55 inch model, and the results also apply to the 65 inch variant. It also has a ton of gaming features like HDMI 2.1 and variable refresh rate (VRR) support for a nearly tear-free gaming experience from PCs or consoles. Sadly, it has poor out-of-the-box accuracy, and you'll need to get it calibrated to enjoy it to the fullest with accurate colors. The best TV under $2,000 in the OLED category is the LG OLED55C1PUB. It's an excellent premium model packed with features and offers fantastic performance for dark room viewing. It's very well-built and has a stylish center-mounted stand that should look nice in any setup. It's available in a few sizes in this price range, from the smaller 48 inch version to the 65 inch size, and they all perform like the 55 inch variant we tested.

OLEDs are unique because of how they can turn off each pixel. This results in a near-infinite contrast ratio for perfect black levels, and there's no blooming around bright objects either. Even if you want to use it in well-lit rooms, it has fantastic reflection handling, but it doesn't get bright enough to truly fight glare from windows with direct sunlight. Gamers should appreciate the 120Hz panel with HDMI 2.1 support, meaning you can play 4k games up to 120 fps. It also has variable refresh rate (VRR) support with a near-instantaneous response time and low input lag.

Unfortunately, OLEDs risk permanent burn-in, which could be problematic if you constantly watch the same content with static elements, like leaving it on a news channel all day. However, this isn't an issue if you're the type to watch varied content. Also, our unit has bad out-of-the-box color accuracy, which is disappointing. If you don't mind these problems, this is the best OLED you can get for under $2,000.

  The magic wand remote is either a love it or hate it thing. I hate it. The default setting when you bring up the TV's options menu is to use the remote as a gyro mouse. All it takes is one press of the directional button to put the remote back into button mode, but A) the jump into gyro mode is disorienting, and B) try explaining to your 70-year-old parent how to deal with this innovation, and then get back to me

  The 5 stars is for the best picture quality you can get without going into the ridiculously high end home theater market (think Best Buy's Magnolia showroom where a single remote runs about $1,000, and only a professional has the security key to set it up).

LG C1 OLED TV review: The best high-end TV for the money

 A number pad and volume and channel rockers sit above the navigation pad, while four color buttons, dedicated service buttons for Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Netflix, LG Channels, and separate buttons for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant sit below the pad. A pinhole microphone is at the top of the remote for using voice controls.

While testing the TV, I found the webOS menu system to be slightly jerky, both in scrolling through the home screen and reacting to commands. I spoke with LG about this problem, and according to the company it appears to be an uncommon issue with the operating system's memory manager. After using the TV for a period of time, most of these kinks seemed to work themselves out

LG OLED65C1PUB Review

 Unlike Chromecast with Google TV, Nvidia's box promised Alexa control.  I named it "Living Room TV", deleted every trace of LG setup from my Alexa profile, and it works nearly perfectly.  It handles turning the LG C1 on and off over CEC quite seamlessly, even when I ask Alexa via Echo devices. It also supports more specific things like opening apps and rewinding by arbitrary time periods

 Now I had a "default" device, so to speak, that I could switch to before powering the TV off. When I powered the TV on, it would just turn on the Apple TV.  Unfortunately, I wasn't a huge fan of the interface, controls nor the remote. Voice control was incredibly subpar

  As a bonus, Google TV on the Nvidia Shield supports Chromecast, something my parents missed from the old Vizio when they came over.  ----- The Conclusion -----  I wall-mount my TV because of unsightly power sockets high up on my wall. If it was not so difficult to unmount this thing and pack it back into the box, I would have returned it a couple weeks in.  Now that the Nvidia Shield has solved *most* of my issues, the C1 is in a passable, usable state

 Try before you buy if you can or just go into it for gaming. Update: 4/21/22 More app crashes randomly made me decide to take another star off the review. Every major streaming app has now had random crashes.  Update 6/19/22 Sound is still an issue

 Again, we are faced with the Very slow navigation through the guide, everything has to load and feels slow. It makes my previous lower end samsung look blazing fast!? Also, the LG “tv” function really relies on Pluto. You are presented with a familiar tv guide navigation and can go to a show. Only with LG most of the shows stop after maybe 30 seconds and prompts you to install and use Pluto to continue watching

 The sound bar continues to disconnect randomly. Today a new sound issue came up however. Before the new sound issue No settings were changed, nothing new was plugged into the tv, just zero change to anything. The sound suddenly stopped working on all outputs, zero sound

 The general menus are very slow, frustratingly slow, I have to just type again Slow. Some times while navigating a streaming service app button presses can be 2-5 seconds lagging behind. Settings menus take seconds to load. Yes, we are talking about mere seconds but when it is all the time on a brand new tv that is not from a bargain bin, it gets frustrating

 My only issue is that these TVs are needlessly thin. It seems like just a novelty, something to show people to impress them with how thin a TV can get, but the sacrifice in quality is not worth it. My TV came slightly bent—not enough to affect the picture or notice from the front, but enough that it looks terrible from the side. Also, the way it sits on the stand, it is leaned slightly backwards, even if the screen was completely straight—slightly annoying

  Now, the not-so-good stuff: the WebOS UI is quite slow and clunky. I expect a faster, smoother OS for my 2021 model TV. While yes, this is a significant improvement over the 2020 CX model, it's still slow and laggy. Installing apps is pretty simple and quick, but there's a lot of random bloat on the main home screen

There is a much nicer home "dashboard", but you have to navigate to it manually (hitting the Home button on the remote brings you to the main home screen with all the apps and ads splattered all over the screen). Also, there is no HBO Max app available on this TV (if that's something you care about)

 You can't even use them as numeric inputs, you have to enter login info through an on-screen keyboard in most apps. The remote isn't even that comfortable to hold in your hand, and I'm constantly re-adjusting my grip. Given that this is the primary method of interaction with the TV, I'm surprised that more work wasn't put in to design a better remote.  If you're going to be watching media through an Apple TV / Roku (or directly from your gaming console — which is what I ended up doing), then the issues with the OS and the remote are probably not a big deal for you

 Not the easiest assembly, you definitely want two people to put it together. Setup process was pretty straightforward from there on.  Now, the not-so-good stuff: the WebOS UI is quite slow and clunky. I expect a faster, smoother OS for my 2021 model TV

Great TV & picture quality for gaming, terrible remote & clunky/slow OS

  I've set it to my liking, but it turns out there's built in hardware to help calibrate the display! You do need a $160 calibrator and some software, but it's totally automated by connecting right to the TV over it's IP address.  And another welcome treat is software called ColorControl that's available on GitHub ( I believe it's open source ) that controls the TV so it'll turn off when the screensaver kicks in as well as sync turning it on and off to your PC's power state. It's really helpful when using this as a monitor.  It seems like C1's made later in the manufacturing cycle seem to be all WBE panels

 Overall, it's really the contrast that makes this thing shine so as long as you can control the lighting in the room, you'll be amazed.  Gaming is perfect. I've got a 3080ti hooked up, and it's good for perfect video with G-Sync (*compatible - it does not have a hardware board.
