LG G2 OLED TV Unboxing: A few surprises!

 Do you remember when LG's first OLED TV came out? I sure do. It was the most memorable point

 of my career as a journalist, and it's kind of hard to believe that was ten years ago.

 Really puts things in perspective, and that perspective is going to be super important

 Welcome back, everyone. I'm Caleb Denison, and yeah, ten years ago, LG flew me out to

 Monaco to witness the grand unveiling of their first ever OLED TV, and it was super exciting.

 I mean, it was filled with all kinds of promise and potential, but as we would learn later,

 it wasn't without its quirks. Kind of reminds me of where we're at today. QD OLED, super

 exciting. Mini LED, making some serious advances, but also not without their quirks, which leads

 us to the LG G2 here. This OLED TV represents the pinnacle achievement that LG has been

 able to make over ten years of constant improvement. Where does this TV sit in the marketplace?

 That's what we're about to find out, but first, we need to unbox and set this thing up. Real

 quick, do you remember the first time you saw an OLED TV? What was that like for you?

 One thing that has not changed over ten years, I still get nervous any time I open up an

 OLED TV, especially one where the box has clearly been around the block a few times.

 Will it be broken? Who knows? That's part of the excitement. Fortunately, while the

 box looks a little beat up and there was some styrofoam crumbling inside, the packaging

 seems to have done its job. When you get the box open, you'll find the G2's included

 wall mount sitting up top. The wall mount is included because that's really what this

 TV is designed for, a super flush mount to the wall that makes it look like a framed

 piece of artwork. You can, however, go for a traditional stand mount if you want, but

 that's shipped separately, as you see here, and it's going to cost you extra.

 I was really hoping that I would love this new stand, because the prior stand solution

 for the Gallery series, you may remember, was a pretty basic set of legs and kind of

 felt like a cheap afterthought. This is a more traditional looking stand, which I like,

 but that's where my appreciation stops, because otherwise, I hate this thing. Yeah, hate's

 a strong word, but sorry, I hate it. First off, it doesn't feel like it fits right when

 you apply it to the back of the TV. Second, the screws seem inadequate considering how

 much weight this stand is responsible for, and they don't exactly go in easily either.

 Third, the TV on this stand is incredibly wobbly, like, unacceptably so. That's both

 because of the flex where the stand meets the back, but also because the stand is designed

 to swivel, and while I like the swivel part, it increases the wobble factor. So yeah, this

 desktop stand, as LG calls it, needs to be 86th and replaced with something much better.

 A TV this premium deserves something equally premium for it to sit on. And honestly, I've

 given LG a pass here in the past, because really, the only reason you'd get a Gallery

 series was for the wall mount look it offered with the no-gap wall mount you place up here
