The only plier-based multitool I can recommend in that general size range is the Leatherman Style PS, but it represents some significant compromises too. There is no blade and the slotted driver will turn a Phillips but is not a Phillips driver.

I carried a Swiss Army Deluxe Tinker for years. It worked well for me but I always wished the pliers were bigger/better. The scissors worked well. The screwdrivers were good. As I was wearing it out (and then eventually losing it) I decided to look for a multitool to replace it. I'd like to stay around that size and weight (3.5"ish long, under 5oz). 

I tried a Gerber Dime... it's a bit small though the pliers are decent. The scissors suck. The drivers are weak (bent the spring on the "Phillips" almost right away). I like the bottle opener on the end, but meh...I can open a bottle with most anything.

The Leatherman Juice CS4 looks almost perfect...except it's discontinued so you can't get it other than on ebay...close to $100 for used and $200 for new?!?!?

I looked at the SOG PowerPint and PowerLitre but I've seen a number of concerns about the quality of SOG tool lately. Also, the PowerPint scissors look too small.

What else should I be looking at?

Doesn't anyone make a multitool for me?

 Hello everyone Resolute Outdoors here again coming at you from the workbench with another review. Today we're taking a look at the Leatherman style PS, this is billed as a keychain multi-tool, it's rather small and lightweight as you can see in comparison to my hands here although I do have rather large hands, it has some features on this tool, your primary function is the pliers here, they're rather small but you know for the size that you have on this tool I think they're quite adequate for most things. Also on this tool you have as well you have a pair of scissors which does have a spring here as well. On my model here the spring did break kind of annoying from from looking around online and everything else it seems like that is a common issue

 Main function I've seen this been used for in my experience my about two years or so now experience with this is this is a great fishing tool. These small pliers are great for getting in the mouths of fish, bluegill, bass things like that and then along with that you have the scissors to help cut line. I know a lot of people will use toenail clippers and things like that for fishing this just seems to be a better option overall my opinion between the scissors here which can do all your line cutting duties and then your pliers for hook removal and things like that. That being said this hook as well is just big enough that you can fit on a belt loop as well so if you're fishing put it on your belt loop and then you have it all day

 That being said though for this I'm seeing about Amazon about $30 now. I think well worth the money. I don't believe this model is made in the United States. This is one of their lower tier models like the Wigman and Sidekick and things like that but overall this is an outstanding fishing tool and also for someone who is in an office or someplace where they can't have a knife blade

 Also on this tool you have as well you have a pair of scissors which does have a spring here as well. On my model here the spring did break kind of annoying from from looking around online and everything else it seems like that is a common issue. Now I'm sure Leatherman's warranty would take care of that, I've used their warranty service before on other tools and haven't had an issue just I really felt like it's been a huge need to be able to do that on this tool. Also you have here you have a nail file as well as a standard screwdriver here and the last function you basically have on this tool is a bottle opener slash keychain clip and then you have a small pair of tweezers here

Leatherman Style PS Long Term Review

 While I applaud Leatherman's attempt to include tweezers on their multitools (an advantage previously held by Swiss Army knives), I didn't think I'd ever be able to remove them from the plastic scale. For starters, the tweezers are fitted extremely tightly into the handle. Okay, I'll grant the designers that they didn't want them falling out accidentally. However, when combined with the tweezer end design, it's downright ridiculous

 Leatherman does have an excellent history of revising and updating their tools for the better, so I hope they will address these design and construction concerns in the next iteration of the Style PS. It's a nifty idea, to have a small pair of pliers and other vital tools to travel with (since the TSA knife policy reversal seems kaput), that can also double as a complement to Swiss Army knives (I'd take the more functional pliers of an additional and functioning Style PS over the bulk of adding them to the toolset of a Swiss Army knife) in everyday carry. Ultimately, I'm so disappointed because it's a Leatherman product, and that reputation instills me with confidence that a better tool will emerge.

 A low-cost product from Leatherman with five main tool implements, and three of them are seriously deficient. If you're using this as your travel multitool, that ratio will leave you with a whole lot of nothing. Leatherman does have an excellent history of revising and updating their tools for the better, so I hope they will address these design and construction concerns in the next iteration of the Style PS.  Maybe just a bad blade but was disappointed when my older super took broke the screw loose and no damage to the blade. Same model used to get the job done.

Very heavy product to be taking on backpacking trips.  All the tools were definitely not needed.  Weight of item is very heavy and if attached to belt can be troublesome.  Better off just having a survival knife rather than taking a whole toolbox with you

 Surely the materials of the tools are made of some high-grade steel and have a lower degree of oxidation resistance, right? Whatever, nothing is perfect. It's probably a marketing ploy where just the case is stainless so they can claim so in the title.  Except were far from perfect here. Looking for more rust, I spot it on the frame as well

NOT stainless, NOT what you expect from Leatherman

 I snapped one of the blades on my beloved SAK years ago (as I would later learn, SAK blades are much softer steel than most knives) and they wanted the price of the knife just to fix it. No thank you.  Stay American made, get a Leatherman. Get the Super Tool 300 unless you absolutely need instant access to the blades

  This all being said, this is a great tool and recommended as an EDC (every day carry). Much tougher and more durable than a Swiss Army Knife (don't waste your time with these, Victorinox fans are either pansies or just don't know any better). The only advantage you'll find on a SAK is the bottle opener. You'll be much happier going American made with the Leatherman

 This thing is ridiculously heavy and cumbersome especially in the stupid sheath. It feels like carrying around a small brick.

 This is a really bad sheath guys, not a good design. The sheath will only fit a narrow belt. The sheath is a poor design for outdoor activity and EDC (forget about that). If I was in the Army I'd forget about it otherwise you're gonna look and your tool will be gone

The tool when closed would not close tightly. The two parts of the handles flopped around loosely with a grap of say 3/4 inch. It was loose and the two handles would rattle and open quite freely especially in the sheath. How utterly annoying

 The sheath that I received with my tool is to bulky and after it gets loosened up I have heard it will not retain you tool very well which means you have the potential to lose your tool. I highly suggest buying a separate sheath. I would suggest the LARGE MOLLE SHEATH that Leatherman makes and ships with some of there Military tools. You can buy it directly form Leatherman for $15 +shipping but i'm sure you could find it on Amazon as well

 The first thing I did was open the tool up to see the pliers. They are quite robust and I am very pleased with the heft of them. I also love the replaceable wire cutters. I think Leatherman should start making this standard on all there tools with pliers

 I rather have a "clumping" Super Tool 300 than no 300. This tool is quite large and would for many be to big to carry on a belt every day. I find this more relevant when referring to the sheath that comes with the tool. While I knew what I was getting int he sheath department before I ordered they only provide the Super Tool 300 with two different HORRIBLE sheaths
