 All right on a daily basis. Something you can wear on a daily basis without looking weird. Uh, very pleasant to look at. Very kind of modest, inconspicuous design

 The more under 20 ounce you find the lighter it's going to be the more over. Now you get into the heavyweight category. Obviously this is half a size weight of that, so very impressive. But at the same time this is a shoe, not a boot

La Sportiva Jackal Review (AMAZING La Sportiva Trail Running Shoes Review)

 The fabric around the ankles was too stiff/hard and gave me a lot of heel and side ankle chafing, and the outsole wore down very fast and started peeling. Might have just been a lemon; I think the Karacal is a better choice if you like the Jackals.

 

Hi, I have been searching for my next pair of shoes for long distance hiking, will be doing about 400km of the Camino Frances, 20-30km a day, this year and am looking for an all terrain shoe from road to rocky mountains.

I have tried some on in-store and have decided a few I like, Mizuma and Innov8 being my favourites so far, and being in the UK stores don't stock Altra but would like to try, so will have to order some online.

Hoka Speedgoat - the cushioning was a bit too bouncy for me.

Scott Kinabalu 2 GTX - loved the sole, comfort and design but couldn't get used to the rocker toe design.

Mizuma WAVE DAICHI 7 - Loved the fit and just the right balance of cushion and on the ground feel.

Innov8 Parkclaw - Liked the fit and less cushioning and felt more grounded that Mizuma but my concern would be are these comfortable on the road.

New Balance Fresh Foam Hierro v6 - I liked the fit of the wide ones but just felt unsure about these as they felt very different to the Mizuma; comfortable but in a different way.

Brooks Cascadia - felt comfortable but didn't feel anything special for them.

Altra Lone Peak (or other style) Would like to try, and wonder how much difference I would feel over the Mizuma.

Addidas Terrex - Would like to try, and didn't have in the store I went to.

La Sportiva - Jackal, Akasha, Ultra Raptor. Haven't tried.

Salomon X Ultra 3 - Haven't tried.

Saucony Peregrine - I own and used for hiking holiday 2 years ago. Very comfortable but felt too bouncy. I use these as a day shoe now.

Trail runners advice: Mizuma, Innov8, Altra...

 I tried Lowa this round. So I will see how many years they last. The Swiss swear by La Sportiva for its resoling.

Discovered that I had $240 in REI dividends today, so my Salomon 4D 3 GTX and Darn Tough merino wool socks came out to just $9!!! Happy deal hunting everyone!

If it ain't broke, don't fix it is the mantra Salomon lives by regarding the legendary Speedcross line. The newest iteration, the Salomon Speedcross 6, includes minor design tweaks that improve upon the already great platform without reinventing the wheel. Long known for its aggressive outsole and unrivaled traction, designers modified the rubber compound to improve performance in muddy conditions. They fine-tuned the sagittate lug pattern for an even better grip on mud, rock, and everything in between. This new version is slightly lighter than the previous model, updating the upper to include more mesh for improved breathability. But don't worry, the Speedcross 6 still offers a glove-like fit straight out of the box. We're fast approaching a decade of running in these shoes, and our heart only grows fonder for this beloved trail runner.
Despite our gushing, we still have a few criticisms of this specialty shoe. Our biggest carry-over complaint between the previous version and the Speedcross 6 is the overly-assertive and outdated drop design. With a thick heel counter and 10mm heel-to-toe drop, this shoe is particularly unstable when running downhill. Although the breathability has improved by tweaking the type of mesh over the instep and forefoot, the Speedcross is better deployed during the cold weather months or high-altitude runs through the mountains. On the flip side, with other, less supportive, and less comfortable shoes pushing into its weight class, we no longer complain about the heft of the Speedcross 6. There is no better option for those who like to run off-trail, over snowy mountains, through muddy river bottoms, and up steep, rocky crags.

  These shoes are amazing. love the laces and love the feel.  However, like knobby tires on a bike or car, these wear super fast on asphalt. As much as I like them, I feel reluctant to wear them on the street because they wear down so quickly

 Waterproofing looks good. The footbed is a bit narrower than I like for stability, but frankly if I were just to need a shoe for trail running on rugged trails, I'd run these for sure. Pretty good protection for toe/heel.

These type shoes are made to fit tight. Not length but around your foot. You need to tighten them down and they “lock” your foot in nicely and after a couple weeks they conformed to my foot. They feel very comfortable after what I assume was the break-in period

... probably too many! The tightness I mentioned really comes in handy running over uneven ground like rocks, mud, up and down steep inclines

 If they last like I expect them too I think the price although high is worth it. I will be doing many runs so if anything fails or my review changes for the worse I will update immediately. Thanks for reading and I hope it helps someone who is on the fence about these.
