 Like they say - Jack of many trades, master of none. Also do not buy stylus from Kobo - it has annoying wiggling tip, better find used MS Surface stylus.  I’m returning Sage to Kobo - short battery life is a dealbreaker for me. I expect eink ereader device to last much longer

The screen is very good. 8” size and very bright and clear. Rather comfortable to hold in one arm. I love warm light with a dark mode

I had high hopes for Forma successor

 That's something that didn't make any sense to me and I'm very happy to report that after a factory reset, 2 firmware updates and 3 battery life cycles, Kobo Sage as a reader now performs as I would expect it to. Which means that depending on the front light, how far you go, I never go past 30-50% but you can expect the battery life expectancy and reading between somewhere between 16 and 25 hours of battery life. Of course it depends on the front light, but if you're keeping it on the lower side of things like 8% or something, I got the numbers that you could actually potentially get 24-25 hours of battery life per charge, which is excellent. That is right smack in the middle of what I was expecting this device actually to do and a little bit better because to be frank, to actually get that much battery life out of just a 1200mAh battery, that's quite something

 I hope that this clarifies the whole battery issue and my attitude and my conclusion around the Kobo Sage because it's something that I kind of lingered on and I really don't like stuff like unfinished things. I like to kind of wrap things up and move forward. So now I'm able to do that. Thank you so much for watching

 As I stated many, many times, the main problem that I had with the Kobo Sage was the questionable battery life that I got in the initial testing results. Now, I fully understand that it has a 1200 mAh battery, which is a thin battery, a smaller battery even than the Libre 2, but that allows the device to be extra thin, sexy and really, really lovely to handle ergonomically. So those things I totally get, but the results that I got didn't really make too much sense to me, especially the reader performance, because I know that the writing performance, it is a stress test that I'm doing, but it is a consistent stress test. So I wanted to revisit that and I also had a conversation with Kobo actually, and then we compared the test results, they did the testing methodology, we did this, the Sage received two updates since then, then I redid the tests again and again and again to actually get proper findings and I allowed the device, the battery to have a couple of cycles so that I can get a more consistent and more realistic picture of what is the deal with the battery life on the Kobo Sage

5, 2.6 hours actually averaging whenever I repeat the same test. However, Kobo themselves redid the same test and they get themselves 2.7 hours of battery life expectancy when doing that type of extreme testing circumstances of consistent writing

I chose to return the kobo because their software would not work with my local library's software. I kept getting login errors on the kobo, and setting up was onerous, and significantly easier on the boox e-reader I ended up getting.  The text of the book is fine, the problem that he has, the menu does not increase in font size and is fine lined so he can't read it. Once in a book he can read the text but can't see the small menu font to navigate from one book to another. Even when he is at "My Books", they are so small he can't tell which book is which.  Once in a while he will accidently touch the center of the screen and pull up the main menu, he can't read it to see how to get out of it

 Anything less than the 8" screen would not be desirable for him. Now to find him the 10" screen. Hopefully with a large enough border that he can hold it without paging forward/back, with a menu that he can read and follow.

Definitely better than Kindle, if only it wasn't so fragile

 I will say, as I'm making this video, the Forma is on sale. So unless they plan to decrease the price of the Forma, it does not make sense to buy it. Unless you get a good deal on it, it might be worth it then. But for most people, if you're buying it full price, the Kobo Sage is a better option

 Hey everyone, Teo here. Today I'm going to review the Kobo Sage 8-inch e-ink e-reader from Rakuten Kobo with a comparison to the Kobo Libra 2 which I have already reviewed. Now if you have watched my review for this e-reader, this video is going to have some overlapping content because the reading features are quite similar. Let me give you a quick intro to some of the recent e-reader models from Kobo

3-inch Kobo Elipsa Pack. The main selling point for Kobo Clara HD is affordability. So this is priced at US $119 and this comes with 8 gigs of storage capacity. So this is good for reading just e-books

 The prices listed here are in US and Singapore dollars. There is the 6-inch Kobo Clara HD, 7-inch Kobo Libra 2, 8-inch Kobo Sage and 10.3-inch Kobo Elipsa Pack. The main selling point for Kobo Clara HD is affordability

 The functionality works perfectly fine. I didn't really have too many problems at all just listening to an audiobook through the device. I found it pretty simple, and so it's there if you need it or if you want it, but you are going to have to pay for it one way or another. When it comes to reading, there's really not much of a difference between the Sage and other Kobo devices

 And of course, there is a faster processor in here as well, which does seem to tax the battery a little bit more. Don't get me wrong, you won't have to charge every day at all.
