KitchenAid Pro Line Burr Grinder vs OXO Brew Conical Burr Coffee Grinder

There is a gap around the metal grinding head and the glass hopper that is large enough for full size beans to fall into. The only way to get them out is with tweezers or to remove the hopper and invert the entire machine to allow the beans to drop out. Having said that, if I knew this going in I STILL would have purchased it without hesitation. For the money I say this is an exceptional value, and let's face it value is king. Be certain you are looking at the "Pro Line" grinder as Kitchen Aid has a lower level one which I felt was inferior. Also, I was not able to find one in a brick & mortar store

For $800, I would look at something like a manual hand grinder ($160-$250) and a bambino plus with a non-pressurized basket ($400) or just go for something like the barista express all in one machine, which isn’t the best but from what I understand you basically have to dial it in by adjusting your dose as the grinder steps are not convenient enough.

You can only adjust by half steps, so 7.5 it was. Everything was peachy keen for a while, and then the grounds became too coarse, so I changed my setting to 8 which was about right but a little too fine. I found that over time, the settings change quite a bit, so you have to use 7

Was I ever wrong! The flavor of my cappuccinos and even the ocassional pot of drip-grind coffe I make is far superior than what I was getting before. I LOVE everything about this grinder. It is simple to use, runs quietly, grinds the beans very evenly, and there is little to no mess of coffee grounds flying around. When I am done grinding the amount I want I simply jiggle the machine a little so that any grounds drop down into the glass container before I remove it

I wanted to share my grinder upgrade experience and my new appreciation for grind quality. It turns out when I thought I was making a decent cup of coffee wasn't even close to what it should be.
