 I have it sensitive, so it will move as fast as I flick the ball, so if I flick it slow like this, the cursor will go slow, if I go like this it will go fast, which I like because I like to, you know, flick the cursor up to where I am, I don't like to have to go like this, and with a mouse I was going and scrolling to the side all the time because there's not enough room here. And then we have the scroll ring, and I do warn you, it does make a noise, and the faster you go, I like to scroll fast, so this is good, you know, this will scroll you down and this will scroll you up. You can program it to go either way, you can program this to be up if you're left handed. So and the buttons are very programmable too, there's four buttons, as you can see

 See here's how you can set it any way you want, and you can set the speed that it scrolls, and the inertial scroll is this, you know, I scroll up, and then I scroll down fast, and I let go of the wheel, and it keeps going a little bit, you know, just like you wind up a toy, and you let it go, and it just goes, like those Hot Wheels things, if you remember those Hot Wheels cars, where you pull them back, and you pull them back, and you let them go, and they go, I used to have those, so I know, I'm such a child aren't I, but anyway, inertial scroll, so just listen, you'll hear the scroll wheel, and I'll let go of it, and that's inertial scroll, and that's pretty much what that is, but anyway, that's the kensington expert, I'm going to turn the light back on, so you can see it again, and see, this is it compared to my hand, and see, I've got tiny, itty bitty little hands, I've got, you know, I'm 5 foot 1, I'm a tiny person, I'm a skinny person, so I've got small hands, and then, you know, the mouse, it's just perfect for the size of my hand, see, I just scroll like this, like I'm just going to navigate regular, and you can just watch my hand work, I'm just going to navigate to a thread, let's see, toho general discussion, okay, LLL kaiju, open the new tab, look at this, so it's a picture of menia going, daddy, daddy, I can shoot smoke rings out of my mouth, son, I'm disappointed, you see, that's how, that's how simple, that's how simple this, this mouse is, it's great, it's great, it's just, it's a good mouse, good mouse, a good mouse, duh, gfest 2013, let's open that, just opening random threads, you know, I really like this scrolling, because I just look at it, and I just want to go, okay, that was a very bad impression of remixing, and record wiping, and whatever those DJs do, but anyway, yeah, that's the Kensington Expert, and it is lovely, and most importantly, it matches my Prime Starscream toy, that is so funny, isn't it, my Prime Starscream figurine, it matches him, they just match, isn't that cute, okay, yes, I'm a nerd, I admit it, I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a nerd, anyway, there you go, Kensington Expert mouse, it's a very good mouse, the ball is nice and glossy, it's a different texture to this, and I'm a texture person, so I really like it, so, this gets an A+, for me, and I'm not even a techie person, so, there you go, goodnight guys.

 You can program it to go either way, you can program this to be up if you're left handed. So and the buttons are very programmable too, there's four buttons, as you can see. This is just my regular click button, just regular click, you know, because you put your hand on it like this, that's how I do it anyway. And this is my right click, and then this is the forward button for my browser and this is the back button for my browser, and if I push both of these together it will refresh a page, and if I push these together it will do a middle click, because I middle click a lot when I use a mouse, so I middle click with this

Kensington Expert trackball mouse review

 Outside of the obvious learning curve of using a trackball mouse, there is a lot that just doesn't feel quite premium here. For starters, the buttons can feel and sound a little bit rattly and they don't have that premium click or tactility that we as gamers or tech enthusiasts have become accustomed to with higher end gaming mice. Now we should keep in mind the $90 price tag here and while that does cost a lot more than a lot of other mice, this is still a larger beast to manufacture both from materials and engineering. That said, there's still some things I feel can be tightened up since this is essentially an old design

 And I can also see a benefit to anyone who has a hard time gripping a normal mouse due to some impairment or disability. For that reason alone, I'm still glad they make trackballs, but maybe it's time to give the design a little bit of a refresh, keeping all those things in mind. Anyway folks thanks for hanging, thumbs up thumbs down, subs if you want more, I'm out.

Kensington Expert Wireless Trackball Mouse - Ehhhhhhhh...

 Because of the fact that they do use this heavier plastic that the case is made out of, there's a lot more weight and it does require quite a bit more force to actuate these buttons than it does on say like a MX M575 or something along those lines. So it is much more of a stiffer button click, which personally, I love that. I do believe the switches that they're sitting on are going to be some form of cheap Chinese Omron switch. There's just no getting around that with any manufacturer these days

 If you are just looking for something that's comfortable to use and won't break the bank and is reliable, I mean, for $15, you could grab a Logitech Marble Track. And so it's, again, I think this gets a lower rating just because I don't think you're getting as much bang for your buck out of it. And that concludes today's review, everybody.  And for $90, you can get some really fantastic track balls like the MX Ergo, you're working your way closer to an X-keys, L-track or something along those lines. There's just so many different options out there for that $80 to $90 that, you know, I don't know that I could justify spending it on this device. If you are just looking for something that's comfortable to use and won't break the bank and is reliable, I mean, for $15, you could grab a Logitech Marble Track. And so it's, again, I think this gets a lower rating just because I don't think you're getting as much bang for your buck out of it

 So it does give kind of that nice fluid feel to it. Everything's kind of made out of the same quality materials and whatnot. They didn't really cheap out on any parts. So again, buttons themselves feel great

Kensington Expert: Simple Design Done Right

 Everything is good. It would have been nice to have smoother edges on the bottom since this device will be held during use, on occasion, but just a line item for the wish list. I have not used the included pad that attaches to the front of the trackball. I've had similar things for keyboards and just find them bothersome, but it seems pretty durable and well made

 I think the premium comes from this trackball possibly being the best on the market and now we've hit the law of diminishing returns. And the second star C, the scroll ring. Apparently all the tech and design went into the ball with its cool metallic red surface and not into the scroll ring and battery compartment. At least they didn't name this the Pro Kensington Expert Wireless Trackball Mouse

 Just kidding, but it is nice. The ball is of good weight, great size and just the right amount of drag to it. One thing you won't be using it for is playing Centipede though. The ball is not retained in any way except by Newton's Laws

  The reason for my purchase was so that the user, my daughter, would not be tethered to the computer and forced to sit next to it. When I was a teen, I bought a similar Kensington trackball with a generous amount of cord. I would play games on my computer from the comfort of my bed. This is similar to how my daughter now uses it

) I am switching from a Logitech Wireless Trackball M570. The M570 ball is controlled by your thumb. The Kensington is controlled by your fingers. This is a huge and superior difference

 The trackball can become poorly responsive at all, although switching the USB port did at least make this better, if not resolve it entirely. I am contemplating replacing this wireless version with a wired version, as I suspect that would resolve these issues.  The poor ergonomics are my biggest problem with this trackball. Ergonomics are supposed to be one of the key advantages of trackballs

 This is not an ergonomic trackball. It is basically a flat surface with the ball in the middle and button arranged symmetrically around the ball rather than ergonomically. The wrist rest makes an important addition, as does the upward angle of the trackball itself, but these are by no means enough to call this trackball ergonomic. I still experience some discomfort, especially because of the flat surface and non-ergonomic buttons

The ability to set the button by software program is nice) to make horizontal scrolling possible without using the keyboard

Very mixed feelings about this trackball

 Highly likely I'm going to investigate that option (because throwing another $150 at this is just what I wanted to do).  (Review is for the Kensington Expert Wireless Trackball Mouse K72359WW)

Expert Wireless Trackball Mouse - mixed bag

 I plugged in the track ball to the Mac's keyboard, installed the software, and that was it. Up and running in no time. And most important, I have taken the batteries out of the Magic Mouse and stored the MM on the bookshelf.  Since I have not had the need to clean the track ball, I have not rated "cleaning" as part of the evaluation

 Instead Kensington decided to place a plastic wheel around the trackball which scrolls the page that your on. I find this wheel better than the old one, but I also find it to be "flimsy" and not the quality of the rest of the track ball. Not being an plastics or mechanical engineer, I have no recommendation as far as an improvement is concerned. But I do think that Kensington can made an improvement in this ring

  Overall it is a nice trackball even though it feels like a 1.0 design. I am looking forward to Kensington's next iteration of the wireless expert trackball.

 It disconnects, causing the trackball to stop working, and then within 5 seconds re-connects and works fine again, like a hiccup. Other reviewers have reported this issue and have not resolved it so I am assuming it is a BT driver issue and hope that an updated driver will fix it in the future if Kensington puts the effort into bug fixing. 3) Scroll ring feel is pretty bad. The scrolling ring is notchy and feels very cheaply made for an expensive trackball

 This means picking up the unit and turning it upside down to locate and flip the tiny switch. Clumsy people (like me) may also find that the ball will fall out if it is not held the right way while doing this.  Suggested Improvements for Kensington ("Dear Kensington,"): 1) Change the scroll-ring design, perhaps keeping the scroll ring as a volume control and adding another thumb-wheel towards the front of the unit (in front of the ball) for scrolling (like where the Logitech wireless trackball puts the scroll wheel). 2) Fix the bluetooth connectivity issue where the device disconnects and reconnects intermittently

It seems that, for whatever reason, the battery-saver activates despite the device being in use while in bluetooth mode. It does not do this cycle while connected via USB dongle

Nice Trackball Despite Quirks

  What I like about the Expert: The buttons are fantastic, way better than those on the fusion. A solid click, easy to get to, perfect. The scroll ring is smoother and it isn't so tall that it covers up half the area of the ball. The ball weight is exactly what I wanted

 I'm highly considering ordering ceramic bearings and swapping the ruby ones out, but if that doesn't work, I'm looking at a rather expensive paperweight.

 Trying to get over the static friction causes jumps and makes precision work impossible.  The bottom-line: I do like the ergonomics of the mouse, especially the way the button clicks feel. The scroll ring is great and the ball size provides a nice feel. I can get over the software issues by not using the Kensington software (X-Mouse Button Control is an open source alternative that offers a lot of the same functionality), but the big issue is the sticky movement from a stopped state

 I don't like to use a mouse - it takes up a lot of desk space, it requires a lot of arm movement, it usually requires a smooth scrolling surface, the buttons have stopped working (on the mice that I DID use). I prefer a trackball over a mouse. I prefer a trackball over a touch pad.  I've used the Logitech thumb mouse - and it was my 'go to' device until I got a wired Kensington trackball for a then 97-year-old friend who didn't have the muscle control to use a mouse

  PROS: -I don't know about this mouse, but my previous experience with a Kensington product was that it lasted a very long time. It was a gift, and I can't remember how long it lasted. 6 or more years. Maybe this one will last a long time too since it's the same brand

 If the pad makes mousing more comfortable for the user, it's there. -It has a wheel around the trackball that is used for scrolling up and down a page that works good. -It seems to be sturdy in construction, and the design has a non-intrusive look to it without glaring trademarks or logos. -It's compatible for Mac or PC
