It was May near Boulder River off 530 (assuming OP is also a Washingtonian) and that’s when my n00b ass learned the hard way about down fill power (I have since swapped for a FF egret 20 YF) and the critical differences between ground and air temps. That depends where the hip pain is at. If the hip pain is at the bottom of the sleeping side, you'll want a thicker but deflated pad. This is caused by the sleeping pad being too hard and deflating it will help. In the case that your hip feels cold after deflating, get a CCF or something soft and place it under your hip area

Used this bag several times now in a range of temperatures so feel I like can give a good review. Probably the best thing about this bag is that, for the price, it comes with DriDown, which resists moisture in humid or damp air (does not prevent your bag from getting soaked if exposed to rain though). Solid bag for late fall camping, but, this is not a 20-degree bag.

COMFORTABLE, Quiet, Lightweight, Packs down easily and compactly, easy enough with a bit of to inflate bit of practice, good insulating qualities (I've slept on it in the snow at 20 degrees F).

I own synthetic and down - down is way better for size, weight and warmth so bite the bullet and get down especially for fall or winter camping.

I'm looking for minor improvements mostly (I can't really see a pathway to 10lb BPW without dropping big money on DCF gear) and making sure I have reasonable climate protection. Less weight would be nice, as I'd like to skip the onion valley resupply but I just don't know how my body will respond to that kind of altitude to do that kind of mileage. You cant call them because they have a permanent voicemail system that automatically comes on and they never called back. It’s just ridiculous that you cannot back up your product better with this price tag. You will be better served by doing more investigating on sleeping pads and staying away from this one.
