Kaweco Classic Sport vs Sailor Pro Gear

I don't like this pen I was expecting something of higher quality, especially for the money, but it turned out to be a cheap plastic pen. Writes ok but nothing special, I'd recommend buying something else.

By no meanings I am an expert, I just want a fine nib fountain pen that I could write in the long run. I used to write with Pilot MR and really enjoyed it for daily writing, but maybe cuz my lack of knowing how to maintain the nib, usually after a year the nib gets stuck and I replace it with a new MR. But I have always wanted a fancier fountain pen for long term. I am not a big fan of this fountain pen size but I guess it is a Japanese thing that they like to make things cute and small

(SEE UPDATE BELOW) Under impressed. First impression: The pen feels cheap. It comes in a flimsy cardboard box and was supposed to have a starter ink cartridge, which it did not. Based on my lowered expectations, I will give the pen a few days once I get an ink cartridge then do a followup to this review

I love my PELIKAN but for a fine-point nib it's more towards a strong medium and the ink flows very freely. (BTW I bought the PELIKAN Souveran M1000 green/black with a fine-point nib--had to return it because it laid the ink down very thick and, was again, closer to a medium plus nib.). So

I find the plastic in the Sport to be a bit more flimsy than the TWSBI and the Safari. Not bad, but not quite as good.

While one of the pens was tested and personalized prior to shipment, this one was not, and both pens came to me writing perfectly. Side-by-side, the fine is a perfect eastern fine, and the medium is a perfect eastern medium. This is not insignificant considering many pens have nibs that can vary by one whole size, such as my lamy F and M with have the exact same line. The build quality is fantastic

The only good attributes of this pen are its compactness and how incredibly lightweight it is. This makes it a decent pen to take on the go, but it could be way better. In conclusion, if you want a Kaweco sport buy the version with a medium nib, since it will let the ink flow easier. I really wanted to like the pen, but it was more of a disappointment to me

I have this pen, it’s beautiful but heavy. To me it’s not a first pen, particularly with a stub. It would feel really weird to her if she’s only used ball points, gel or fine liners.
