Jinhao 992 vs Lamy 2000

Genuinely amazing for the price, and you get, at least when I bought mine, a pack of 5 ink cartridges AND a converter for using bottles ink in the future (Cheap bottled ink like Parker Quink is the most economical way to fill a fountain pen). On AliExpress a Jinhao 992 is a couple of pounds including shipping, but shipping is slow to be fair.

(I know there is a stainless steel version of the Lamy 2000, but (1) it's much more expensive, and (2) it doesn't have a window to view the ink level. For me, the stainless steel version is not worth buying.)

This pen is heavy, it is almost the same as X750 but it has a tripod section. The ink flow is pretty good. I can't tell anything about the original nib because I bought with a fude nib instead. It should be the same price of the x750

Lamy 2000 is just as effective. Smooth nib? They both have it. I found out after using both pens that the Visconti is far too heavy for me.

Wing Sung 601: $15 vac filler, hooded nib, nail of a fine nib. Good sort of re-pop of the classic Parker 51. Holds ink for days. Good build

I work from home, but right now my Lamy 2000 is the only pen I allow out of the house, not only because it’s a solid writer but also because it’s solidly built, and so I’m not afraid of banging it around. My Pilot Custom 823, on the other hand, is like the One Ring…and they all wantsss My Precious for themselves. But it is mine, I tell you.
