I bought a pair of HD6xx the next day, that's how excited I was that music could actually sound better. I started with a Schiit Magni + Modi Heresy, which was a major upgrade from my cellphone, lol. Now I have the JDS Labs Element II thanks to my friend getting it before me and heavily recommending it. It's still crazy to think that most people never hear their favorite songs in their full glory

About a year ago I thought audio quality didn't matter, and now I've spent around $1600 on headphones and equipment. I've gotten two of my friends into the hobby as well. 

My first mind-blowing experience was using my HD598 with my Razer phone 2 and listening to Low Roar's "Don't Be So Serious." The vocal clarity I got using Tidal instead of Youtube was insane to me. I bought a pair of HD6xx the next day, that's how excited I was that music could actually sound better. I started with a Schiit Magni + Modi Heresy, which was a major upgrade from my cellphone, lol. Now I have the JDS Labs Element II thanks to my friend getting it before me and heavily recommending it. It's still crazy to think that most people never hear their favorite songs in their full glory. It's also kinda sad I guess.

How do  you compare the 600s and the Sundaras to the 6xx? I was wondering if I should get these two over my 6xx's or do a jump to something like the Ananda. I got the JDS labs atom amp and dac instead of the element.

My daily drivers after ~a year of the hobby

I use a JDS Labs Element II and it's fantastic. Have a Chord Mojo for listening in the living room from my laptop, but absolutely love the Auteur with the Element II. I know everyone says that ZMF cans are great paired with tubes but I don't have room and the increased inconvenience likely isn't worth any difference in sound for me.

Got a VC, with the JDS Element 2 as a solid state, and a Feliks Echo Mk. 1 with stock tubes as the OTL.

The OTL smooth off the top end a bit, makes the cans a touch fuller sounding, and adds a bit more depth and separation to the vocals. The Element 2 sounds a bit cleaner, treble is more apparent, sharper attack to the notes, and sounds a bit more 2D with less of that separation effect (though it's not dramatic).

The OTL adds a nice little bit of refinement to the sound, though I still enjoy the SS to switch things up (or if I need to drive my planar).

ZMF Auteur owners - amp pairing?

\-JDS Element II-  VS  -Monolith AAA 788-. I am looking for a DAC/Amp combo for my desktop, to use with both powered speakers and my Sennheiser HD 6xx. Ideally something for the long term, with good guarantee, good brands that back their product with good quality control, and that'll cover me in case I change headphones in the future.

Any recommendations for a small receiver? 

I just need something I can hook a tv, a streaming device (phone or tablet), and some speakers up to.

Ideally, I would get jbl 530's but i need to shop around for a super good deal or find some used or something first. But we'll just assume those are what i get.

I've just reworked my office space with new desk, monitors, mic and painting. Now I'm looking into bookshelf speakers to pair with my current setup, but I'm afraid I'm out of space in the current desk organization to fit those.

My budget for the speakers is around 200-300 USD (I'm located in Brazil, this will cost me around 1.2-1.8k BRL in direct conversion). I know there are arms with pressure mount that I could add to the table, but my tabletop is 3.5 inches (6.5cm) wide, I couldn't find many options that fits this size and I'd rather stay away from punching holes through it (it was custom made by a carpenter South of Brazil).

My office room is 98x137 inches (2.5mx3.5m) or around 94 square feet. I have a window with curtains behind the table (shown in the picture) and a door in front of the table in right corner.

I can buy the speakers from sites like [amazon.com.br](https://amazon.com.br/) and [mercadolivre.com.br](https://mercadolivre.com.br/) (among many others), I did a fast search to see what models would fit my budget and I could find these models:

The B&W 685 S1's or the KEF Q150. I will be using these as studio monitors in a very, very small room for desktop video editing and listening to music. My tastes of music lies in hip-hop/rap, classical, and indie rock.

I was wondering which would be better for my needs. The KEFs would be $325 and the B&Ws would be $400. Both can be talked down definitely. These will be hooked up to a Pioneer Elite A-20 amplifier. What do you guys recommend?

I have a Yamaha AS3000 amplifier and my dog just chewed on some of the knobs. Does anyone know how easy it is to replace these? Where can I get OEM replacement knobs and do I need to disassemble the housing to replace the parts? or can I pull of the knobs and push back on the new parts? I am able to take off the treble knob by loosening the set screw.

Tube amp question: What if the tube amp's power rating is lower than the recommended power rating of the paired bookshelf speakers? Let's say I have a 25 watt tube amp but the speaker manufacturer recommends a power range of 40-200 amps, but the speaker has a sensitivity of 88dB and is 4 ohms. Would these speakers not work with the amp or sound like crap?

Would these speakers not work with the amp or sound like crap?</p>

My JBL 305P MkII speakers make a loud buzzing sound when trying to play certain games like Monster Hunter World. Currently I have two of these speakers running to [this mixer](https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QDN6Z83/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) with one of the inputs going to my PC, and another input going to a monitor that is used for playing Switch games. The output is connected to [this cable](https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0084O7FPM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) which is connected to the two speakers. Previously I had the PC and the speakers on the same power strip and I was getting a small amount of buzzing but it wasn't too bad, however, when launching certain games on Steam, the buzzing completely drowns out the game audio and hurts my ears. I saw someone mention elsewhere that it could be caused by having everything going through the same power strip and switched the speakers onto a separate one without anything else on it. Now the speakers are loudly buzzing at all times instead and not putting out any audio.

At this point I'm out of ideas on how to possibly fix this, so any suggestions would be great.

I would like to buy a speaker of about €600 to €700 (\~$700-$840), although I am willing to exceed that price by \~€300 (so up to €1000 = $1200) if it's really worth it. I would mainly use the speaker in my room, and mostly listen to classical music and jazz, although it isn't limited to those styles of music. I looked around for a bit and mainly used [whathifi.com](https://whathifi.com), as it seemed reliable. I am considering the following speakers but please feel free to suggest others:

The brand Bluesound was recommended to me, and I am leaning toward the [Pulse Mini 2i](https://www.bluesound.com/nl/products/pulse-mini/) as the [Pulse 2i](https://www.bluesound.com/nl/products/pulse/) doesn't seem to offer that much more. I heard the [Pulse Flex 2i](https://www.bluesound.com/nl/products/pulse-flex/) and liked the quality of the sound, but WhatHifi seem to think the timing and dynamics of Bluesound's products are a bit off, though the sound is good. 

The site seems to really like the [Audio Pro Drumfire](https://www.audiopro.com/en/product/drumfire/#white), and I have to admit it seems great. I was just wondering if the speaker is suited to classical music, as Audio Pro mainly boast how loud the speaker can be. Still, WhatHifi write that the sound is detailed and clear, so it could still be great.

A friend of mine uses KEF speakers, but most of them are too expensive, although I am considering the [KEF LSX](https://nl.kef.com/products/lsx), as they seem great. I'm not sure if it's worth paying the extra €300 though.

I was also wondering if one big speaker, like the Pulse (Mini) 2i or two smaller ones, like the Pulse Flex, would be better for a room.

I know I based my searches mainly on one website's opinion, but the possibilities seem more endless every google search so I preferred to narrow it down a bit.

If you have any experience with these speakers or speakers in this range, your input would be greatly appreciated :).

Hopefully this is the right place to post: 

I have a pair of Mackie CR3-XBT's that my roommate got me for my birthday, but I'm having a little trouble with a background buzz/hum. It doesn't seem to change regardless of where I set the volume on my computer, the media player (spotify/youtube), or the speakers themselves. I double-checked all connection, and figured out that the sound continues even when the 3.5mm plug is disconnected from the computer (after already picking up a ground loop isolator, oh well it still works with my headphones!), which leads me to think it's something to do with the power plug. I tried plugging it in at different ports on the power strip it's in currently as well as plugging it directly into the wall itself, but I'm still getting the same issue regardless. 

Is it just the speakers themselves and I'm SOL, or is there some other way to remedy this? I love the sound coming out of them but I can't *not* notice that little background "ssshhhhhh" noise.

Hey guys, I'm looking for a pair of bookshelf speakers for my Sony STR-DH590 AVR but i can't go anywhere to demo speakers since covid-19 has us all locked inside. So I'm here for your input, I've already narrowed it down to either the Dali Spektor 2's or the Klipsch R-51-M's. If you have any other suggestions i would love to hear it! I know speakers are a very personal thing but times being as they are I'm putting my faith in you for this first purchase. My budget for this first pair is limited to around €250 (300$ usd). My intention is to get a full set eventually, with floor standing speakers etc. Thank you!

Advice needed on affordable compact system

This sub may be the wrong place for a non-audiophile to ask this question but here it goes... I currently have a Yamaha MCR-B142. I love the compact look of it and am perfectly satisfied with the sound quality. However, the Bluetooth connection just constantly drops to the point that I can’t go 10 minutes without having to set it back up multiple times. I don’t want to spend more than $200-300, but I’d like to get a wireless speaker for my iPhone primarily, via wifi or Bluetooth connection. I read that WiFi is stronger so may lean towards something like Sonos, though at this point I don’t need to expand into other rooms. FM radio option would be a plus. CD not necessary. Just something that has a solid wireless connection. Conversely— any troubleshooting tips for constantly dropping Bluetooth connection? I have moved it further away from the router and am still having issues. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I have a multi-speaker system in my basement that was installed and all the wires lead to a big black box with what seems like ethernet ports and the wires connect to some kind of small port at the bottom. I recently bought the Logitech z407 computer speaker system and have been confronted with a recurring popping noise from the sub-woofer, as well as relatively poor performance with regards to watching videos (human speech is almost painful to listen to). I am planning to return the system to best buy tomorrow and am now in the market for another computer speaker system.

I don't want to spend more than 100 dollars; I will *stretch* to $120 if the performance I'll get is exponentially better. I may be willing to buy a used system, and will buy from anywhere, but if you can vouch for a system at best buy I'd like to spare shipping and make one trip.

I'm primarily looking for a set of computer speakers *with a sub-woofer*. My space is limited, but I'm willing to consider other recommendations (the z407 is the first system I've ever owned)

I sit at my desk most of the time that I am using the speakers, but like to listen to them while generally in my bedroom.

I intend to connect my speakers directly to my desktop via Bluetooth, 2.5mm, or USB. I don't have any special sound card or DAC (perhaps a future investment).

I mainly listen to music (metal ,hip-hop, electric, or lo-fi for studying), but I frequently watch YouTube videos and listen to podcasts, so clarity of human speech is essential.

Overall, I want a well-rounded sound system for my computer for a budget. Sorry for being long-winded.
