 And the third thing that's an issue, it's probably nothing you could solve with design is just how you have to gather the tent material when closing. It's something you have to think about. You start closing the front and then you got to tuck the sides in and then you get the back down and you got to make sure it's not pinching this or pinching that. So it's just a little bit fussy when coming back together

 The reason I chose the James Barood model is just build quality, these things are built better than anything else out there, the best materials, the best shocks, the fit and finish is excellent, you'll see that as we go through the video today. And why hard shell over soft shell? Well I had a soft shell, and while they look cool and are very functional and typically have more space, they're just a pain to set up. You've got the cover to mess with, you've got to unfold the thing, there are poles that need to be placed to put the flaps out and get everything working right, and you're doing all of this at 7 or 8 feet in the air, so it's not like you can just reach up. You've got to either climb on your truck or stand on a stool

 I just never have put it on because I use this tent so much that I've just used those snap buckles along the sides Now compared to all of the other rooftop tents on the market. This rooftop tent has the best Road cover now you're gonna see some that are hard shell rooftop tents and then this fold out traditional if you will this whole rooftop tent thing is still relatively new, but I call them the traditional style of rooftop tents with the soft cover that goes over the top and it folds out this style Definitely the Rome has the best road cover because it's got that zipper that goes all the way around to keep it nice and dry in Bad conditions and also to keep you know moisture out of there There are a lot of bugs Also those snap buckles that don't go over the top. They're just along the sides keep the shape of The the road cover so it doesn't balloon up as you're going down the freeway Which almost every other this style rooftop tent does and that's a huge gripe of mine when you see that forerunner Passing you and it just looks like it's got this big balloon on top of it It's kind of funny, but the Rome has done a really good job at mitigating that by those snap buckles That go all the way around another really cool thing that i'll show you on the other side Is the fact that there is a little track on the side where this road cover actually slips into And that being said you can just toss the road cover over to this side And if you need what's on your bed rack or whatnot You can just roll this guy up And then you can tuck it away with these straps right here And then it just kind of sits right there. I've got my gas roto packs on this side So I really never need them

 And that orange little pocket you see up there, those are actually air vents, so just to help with ventilation of the tent. Down below the mattress, which is included, is a three inch high density foam mattress. So really thick and actually pretty comfy mattress, that is included. And below that red material is the anti-condensation mat

 Some boot bags are included with this rooftop tent, two are in fact. You've also got the gear hammock here, which is a great use of this space below the overhang portion, store things that you might need to get to quickly, sweaters or what have you. Here around the ladder is what Roam calls their porch, it has a nice little window on the front, right now it's fully closed, fully closed. There's also mosquito netting if you want to have it open

 Here we've got one of the windows and the window awnings supported with these rods. That's really easy to do. All you do is simply insert here and then flex the rod back and insert it into the grommets. So two per window, got a couple over here on the rain fly, and here you can get a really good look at this mosquito netting

 What you do is the last person out, just quickly attach those as you fold up the ladder, it kind of helps draw in that material. This orange and green sack here is for your window support rods, ground stakes, guy ropes, that's to secure the porch overhang. You want to make sure you do that when you're set up. And of course some tools are provided for assembly and installation of the rooftop tent

 Not the Vagabond XL. So there's not a lot of content on YouTube. Actually, there's only like two videos on YouTube about the Vagabond tent or the Vagabond XL. I decided to not go with the Vagabond XL because for $500, I didn't need an extra six inches of space on either side

 So you can see that that PVC part isn't on the ground and it's kind of bunched up. So eventually, if I get onto some flat ground, I've also got some leveling blocks under there, as you can see. Eventually, if I get onto some flat ground, it'll probably do me better. Not here in a little off road park

 It's a ripstop material. It looks really cool glistening in the sun. And then also on this side, you've got the road cover. These are massive

 But I definitely am going to carry those stakes because this is very effective, you know, really awesome, really awesome little tent. Those poles keep it keep it folded out really nicely, especially when when there's nothing hanging from it. The other thing that I think is probably noteworthy or mention worthy as far as this tent is concerned, it doesn't creak. It doesn't squeak

 Luggage hammock right here. Most important this diamond plate bottom. Most other rooftop tent companies don't want to put the extra money for the diamond plate, but it's totally worth it. Very durable
