If you want something cheap, the best cheap 4k gaming TV we've tested is the Insignia F50 QLED. As a cheap TV, it's very light on extra gaming features, so unlike the more expensive models on this list, there's no variable refresh rate support, and it's limited to a 60Hz refresh rate. It's still decent overall for gaming, though, especially if you prefer more immersive games like RPGs or turn-based strategy games that are heavier on graphics and don't benefit as much from a higher frame rate.

It delivers surprisingly good picture quality, with an excellent color gamut, great accuracy before calibration, and excellent contrast. It looks good in a dark room, but unlike the TCL 5 Series/S546 2021 QLED, there's no local dimming feature to bring out bright highlights and improve dark room performance.

If you want to spend even less, the best cheap LCD TV we've tested is the Insignia F50 QLED. It's an alright TV with good picture quality and amazing contrast, resulting in deep blacks in a dark room. It has an excellent color gamut and can display a wide color gamut with HDR content. Even though it's not bright enough to deliver an impactful HDR experience, HDR content looks vivid and lifelike. It also has decent peak brightness in SDR and satisfactory reflection handling, so glare isn't an issue in moderately-lit rooms.

Unfortunately, stepping down to a cheaper TV also brings a few serious drawbacks. It doesn't upscale low-resolution content like DVDs well. It also has very limited processing, even compared to the Hisense U6H. It doesn't have a local dimming feature and can't remove judder from any source.

The best cheap 4k TV we've tested is the Insignia F50 QLED. It's a surprisingly good cheap TV with much better picture quality than most comparable cheap TVs. It uses the same Quantum Dot technology usually found on far more expensive TVs, allowing it to display a much wider range of colors than most comparably-priced TVs. It delivers decent picture quality overall, with an excellent contrast ratio and great accuracy out of the box.

It's still a cheap TV, and there are some noticeable downsides to this TV compared to the more expensive models on this list, including the Hisense U6H. The F50 has limited processing, so lower resolution content isn't upscaled as well as other TVs, and there's significantly more banding in areas of similar color. It also has limited extra features, with no local dimming feature and almost no advanced gaming features. It's fine for casual gamers, but if you mainly play fast-paced games or you play online, a more advanced TV with a faster response time would be a better choice.

If you want the best cheap TV for streaming, check out the Insignia F50 QLED. Most cheap TVs are basic but at least have a built-in smart interface that makes it easy to stream content. Some cheap TVs also deliver okay overall picture quality, which is the case with the F50. It's better than most cheap TVs because it displays deep blacks in dark rooms, and even if it doesn't have a local dimming feature like the Hisense U6H, the black uniformity is still good. It also uses quantum dot technology to display a wide range of colors in SDR and HDR, and the accuracy before calibration is great, so you'll enjoy an accurate, life-like image without having to spend more to calibrate it.

It uses Amazon's proprietary Fire TV interface, the same interface you would get with a Fire Stick. It's user-friendly, and there are many apps you can download, meaning you won't have any issues finding your favorite content. If you aren't a fan of Amazon's interface platform, the TCL 4 Series/S455 2022 is another cheap TV with a user-friendly Roku TV interface. However, the overall picture quality is better on the Insignia.

There are a ton of cheap TVs available at various retailers, and while most are good enough for streaming your favorite content, their picture quality is mediocre at best. However, some cheap TVs have surprisingly decent picture quality and performance, like the Insignia F50 QLED. You don't get the same peak brightness as the Hisense U6H, but it still performs well with a few lights around, thanks to its decent reflection handling. It has a high contrast ratio and good black uniformity, but it lacks a local dimming feature to further improve those black levels, which is normal for a low-cost TV.

What makes this better than other cheap TVs is that it uses quantum dot technology like the higher-end TVs, meaning it displays a wide range of colors in HDR, but it doesn't get bright enough to make all those colors look vivid. Even in SDR, it has great out-of-the-box accuracy. It comes with the Fire TV interface, similar to the Google TV interface on the Hisense U6H, and navigating through the menus feels smooth.

If you instead prefer looking for the best cheap TV because you're on a strict budget, there are a few options that you can find with okay performance. Something like the Insignia F50 QLED is an okay TV, but there are a few trade-offs for getting a cheap TV. It doesn't have a local dimming feature like the Hisense U6H, so its overall picture quality isn't as good, but this is what you have to expect. It still has an excellent contrast ratio, and its black uniformity is good, meaning content looks great in dark rooms. While its reflection handling and SDR peak brightness are both just decent, it performs well in rooms with a few lights around, but don't place it opposite a bright window.

One advantage this TV has over other cheap models is that it uses the same quantum dot technology as the Hisense. It means that it displays a very wide range of colors in HDR to make images look life-like, and it has great out-of-the-box accuracy in SDR. There are a few drawbacks, as it doesn't properly upscale 480p content, but that's only a problem if you still watch DVDs, and it isn't an issue with streaming content.

If you do, the TV supports Dolby and DTS audio formats for passthrough.

The built-in Fire TV platform is user-friendly and navigating through the menu feels smooth. It has a bunch of apps you can download, and the mic built into the remote gives you access to the Alexa voice assistant feature. It also has decent overall picture quality with deep blacks if you want to use it in a dark room and decent peak brightness and reflection handling in bright rooms. No matter the environment, if you want a decent-sounding budget TV, it's a good choice for you.

If you're looking for something cheaper and you aren't going to take advantage of the gaming features of the Sony X85K, then a lower mid-range model like the Samsung QN43Q60BAFXZA is a good alternative. Its picture quality is similar to the Sony model, as it has the same fantastic contrast and remarkable black uniformity but lacks a local dimming feature. Although it has worse reflection handling, it still gets bright enough to fight glare in rooms with a few lights around.

Its built-in Tizen smart interface is very easy to use and has a huge selection of streaming apps, so you can easily find your favorite content. The mic in the remote gives you access to Google Assistant, Bixby, and Alexa, so you can choose the voice assistant you prefer. One of the downsides of this TV is that while it displays a wide range of colors in HDR, its HDR peak brightness is just okay, so it doesn't deliver the best HDR experience, but that's what you have to expect for a TV in this price range.

 All the screen sizes for this model are only 1 inch deep, except for the 85 inch, which is 1.1. And they look great if you decide to hang them on the wall. If you're not wall-mounting, you do get pedestal legs in the box that can be set up in either a low-profile or a soundbar position without needing any tools

 It's got a tiny bezel that runs around the screen, and then on the back you've got all of your connections. Starting off are Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for wireless connectivity. Then there's two USBs, an optical output, ethernet, an antenna connection, and finally three HDMI's, which are all 2.0, and number two is where you'll find your enhanced audio return channel

 There's also a web browser, and you get multi-view, which lets you watch two different sources at the same time. And if you have a compatible webcam, you can even set this up to use with the Google Duo app for video calls. Then there's the picture. The Q60B is an edge-lit 60Hz panel that uses Samsung's dual LED technology powered by the quantum processor Lite 4K, and it all comes together very nicely

 Next we have the operating system, and this one, just like the other Samsung models for 2022, uses the refreshed version of Tizen with a full-screen interface. Pressing the home button on the included solar-powered remote is going to bring up a line of apps across the top, and then underneath that are several rows of suggested content. It's not necessarily the most attractive of the operating systems out there, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Plus, it gets the job done, and it's easy to use, which are more important factors anyways

 Some items are ambiguous (maybe it's under this one?), and I find myself searching for things and when I finally find them, the controls are often limited.  It's 2022, I just bought a quality TV from a previously adored and promoted-by-me brand, and I'm super pissed. My buddy's LG is much better, and I'm now going to add a fricking Roku to a TV that is state of the art. And for a 43" I could have gotten an off-name brand with awesome pic and Roku built in, for half the price!!!! Lesson Learned!  Boo to Samsung on this

Mute should ALWAYS have it's own button, not remembering to press and hold a specific button to mute it

Devoted Samsung Fan - DISAPPOINTED!!!!

We upgraded from an eight year old LCD HD monitor to our Samsung 4K, not a single regret over the money spent.  The picture quality is top notch, it integrated perfectly with our various media players and is an all around great performer.  The smart functions work fantastically.  Just an all around great product and upgrade

The set up for this TV wasn’t awful, but Ivwas hoping for a more intuitive experience. We were able to get Netflix and Amazon Prime figured out with some patience. So far, we haven’t figured out Disney+.  Maybe I need to make adjustments in the TV settings, but the picture only seems a touch better than our 4-5 year old Samsung UHD
