After trying out a handful of different mattresses and understanding the ridiculous prices of some, I’ve come to the conclusions that 1) I prefer a medium/firm bed, and 2) I’m poor. I visited IKEA today and found the $500 Heston mattress (queen size). Curious if anyone has any experience with it, how it holds up, or any advice whatsoever. Thanks in advance!

<p>Edit: I’m a 5’8” 160 lb male, and I’ll be sleeping in this mattress with my wonderful and tiny 5’0 girlfriend. We tend to sleep on our sides and stomachs.</p>

my mother has severe spinal stenosis (several discs have broken down, she's had rods and screws installed with little benefit, as well as a torn glute repair. take care of your spines, kids.) she's 56, ~155, and sleeps on her back, prefers med-firm or firm. her gentleman companion says he's comfortable on whatever. while they were moving in together I bought them a zinus, warning them that it would break down fairly quickly and need to be replaced, and that it would be a pain when it did. the time has come.

she's up every night in serious pain, and sometimes doesn't bother trying to sleep at all. her job is very difficult and both emotionally and physically demanding, especially during covid. I don't feel like I can waste her time with a bunch of returns or DIYing something, though the zippered mattresses with layers seem doable.

she's willing to spend up to $3500 and is interested in latex or a latex hybrid for its lifespan. I'd like to avoid memory foam and memory foam hybrids because if the next mattress sags within five years I'm going to turn into the Joker.

currently looking at the Alexander nest hybrid or an Ikea hesstun mattress+good latex topper, since we live fairly close to an Ikea and a return would plausibly be easier than dealing with a mattress company.
can anyone point me in the right direction, or confirm my instincts?

I am currently comparing between the Helix Midnight or Twilight, the DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid and the Saatva Classic. I am leaning towards a luxury firm feel and most definitely a hybrid, I don't trust full memory foam or latex anymore. Can anyone offer any insight?

 I have slept on a few firm mattresses lately and they have been life-changing. My favorite mattress so far has been a bed at the Grand Hyatt.

 I’ve doused it in Fabreeze and we’ll see if that helps, maybe the “off gassing” or whatever is just that weird smell.

Anything under $500 and firm that isn't shite? I'd just buy another green tea Queen mattress but it won't ship till like June or something.

I need something very firm because I can only sleep on my stomach. I get bad apnea on my back, left side are all broken ribs, and right side I have trouble breathing.

 In fact, I don't think I've ever slept better. Granted, I've only been sleeping on it for a few days, but GD, can't remember the last time I've slept so well. Mattress cover is lined with FIBERGLASS. Yes, tiny loose glass fibers. I know, I still can't believe it either

I bought my Zinus green tea 12" mattress because I needed something cheap. Right out of the box, it was the most comfortable mattress I ever slept on. It supported my back so perfectly, I'd lie in bed and marvel at my magical $300 mattress. Well, one year later it started to sag, and now it's awful

So, many on this sub know about how Zinus mattresses are pretty ehhhh in terms of quality... especially in regards to the whole fiberglass thing.

But, I do love the way the Zinus Green Tea foam mattress feels.  I honestly haven't encountered a better one.  I tried a Purple mattress, but I hated how heavy it was to transport and it was too firm for my liking.

Anybody know a higher-quality mattress that feels a lot like the Zinus one?  Thanks.

Zinus alternative that feels like a Zinus?

I was getting a lot of ads from Purple and eyed their 4inch premium hybrid for $3k. I had really high hopes and was excited so I went to Mattress Firm to try it out and..

I then tried a bunch of other mattress and I don’t really know what I was looking for. Like I understand the whole idea of pressure points and wanting to “hug” your sides but for basically all the mattresses I tried, I felt they were comfortable and “okay”. I was pretty indifferent. Nothing blew me away

I am moving out of my childhood home and into my own apartment and I have some cash saved up and am looking to splurge on a nice mattress.

Obviously, I prefer paying as little as possible but I don’t mind splurging up to $4000 if the mattress is worth it.

 Maybe it's just the 12"? After a week, mattress has maxed out at 10-11". I don't care so much about the height, except that I paid for it. Slept on it last night for the first time. Odor hasn't dissipated completely, but wasn't terrible with the mattress pad & sheets blocking some of it

 I'm not sensitive to smells, but the odor has honestly been overwhelming, enough that I've been leaving windows open in 15 degree weather (there goes my cost savings). She uses some really worn down mattress that doesn't even seem like it's 6" and it's an innerspring creeky mess, and I've been using some cooling gel ver of the Zinus Green Tea mattress. She wants something that she's used to but isn't against trying memory foam stuff, and I made the switch to the Zinus about 2 years ago because of some pain and found that even the Zinus mattresses give me great pain relief.

I purchased this mattress to replace a Spa Sensations memory foam mattress from Wal-Mart that was fine for about five years but recently started to sag/tent in the middle.   I have 3 of these mattresses in my house now, and purchased one as a housewarming present for some friends. This is the real point of this review:  The mattress was opened immediately upon receipt, removed from the bag, and the mattress did not expand fully. First time I've seen this happen, but I see from other reviews that it does happen. The instructions say to open the mattress and allow it to expand within 72 hours of receipt, and this is a big clue
