I’m currently sleeping on the 25+ year old mattress that I was conceived on. As you can imagine I’m very excited to graduate from this one for multiple reasons. 

After trying out a handful of different mattresses and understanding the ridiculous prices of some, I’ve come to the conclusions that 1) I prefer a medium/firm bed, and 2) I’m poor. I visited IKEA today and found the $500 Heston mattress (queen size). Curious if anyone has any experience with it, how it holds up, or any advice whatsoever. Thanks in advance!

<p>Edit: I’m a 5’8” 160 lb male, and I’ll be sleeping in this mattress with my wonderful and tiny 5’0 girlfriend. We tend to sleep on our sides and stomachs.</p>

my mother has severe spinal stenosis (several discs have broken down, she's had rods and screws installed with little benefit, as well as a torn glute repair. take care of your spines, kids.) she's 56, ~155, and sleeps on her back, prefers med-firm or firm. her gentleman companion says he's comfortable on whatever. while they were moving in together I bought them a zinus, warning them that it would break down fairly quickly and need to be replaced, and that it would be a pain when it did. the time has come.

she's up every night in serious pain, and sometimes doesn't bother trying to sleep at all. her job is very difficult and both emotionally and physically demanding, especially during covid. I don't feel like I can waste her time with a bunch of returns or DIYing something, though the zippered mattresses with layers seem doable.

she's willing to spend up to $3500 and is interested in latex or a latex hybrid for its lifespan. I'd like to avoid memory foam and memory foam hybrids because if the next mattress sags within five years I'm going to turn into the Joker.

currently looking at the Alexander nest hybrid or an Ikea hesstun mattress+good latex topper, since we live fairly close to an Ikea and a return would plausibly be easier than dealing with a mattress company.

Now they do make a couple of other beds that we're going to briefly mention in today's video, but we're going to be focusing our attention on the Original

Let's move over to how this mattress fares for couples, and since its firmness and feel is so accommodating, we think it's very easy for two people to agree on that. So you're going to want to know about edge support and motion isolation. Motion isolation refers to how well the mattress absorbs cross mattress motion and the tufts and needle mattress does this pretty well

 This is a 10 inch thick mattress and it has only two foam layers. You have seven inches of a dense support foam on the bottom, which is a pretty common type of foam you find in these beds. I just got a Tuft & Needle Original queen mattress. Buying and unpacking experience was just fine. Good ship times, easy to get set up, didn't take long to 'plump' out.

To me, however, it feels pretty darn firm. Does anyone have experience with this mattress? It's not bad sleeping on the back, but side sleeping is a little challenging. I've only slept on it 2 nights so far and have woken up a couple times with hands going numb because my shoulders don't sink into it enough.

 I threw my back out about a year ago - and my mattress [before T&N] was incrementally, day by day, exacerbating my bulging disk. Also, waking up with extremely tight shoulders. 4. This was a difficult decision for me to purchase this mattress

 but much better. My shoulders are only a little jacked up anymore, way better. I think I may need a lumbar pillow.  So after two weeks of using this mattress

  Tuft & Needle may just be too firm for me. :( I cannot return it because I purchased through Amazon and the 30 day trial has passed. I want to love this mattress, I think the company has the right idea and is reasonably priced. So at this point, for me, it is an acceptable mattress at a reasonable price

We did not do the greatest job of taking care of this with mattress protectors and things so that is number one. Tuft & Needle Mattress Review | THREE YEARS LATER TEST!

 I don't necessarily feel gonna roll off of the mattress, but overall not the best edge support with the tuft needle. So now let's talk about the pros who I think the tuft needle might be a good fit for. First off, it's a good option for those who want a very good deal. Right now, it's under six hundred dollars for a queen size

 Has some very good bounce to it, pops back into place very, very quickly. It is also infused with ceramic gel and also graphite as well. Now both of those are helping with heat dissipation and cooling as well. Big problem with foam mattresses is they trap heat

 It's going to come to your house in a cardboard box, so how do you unbox it? Well, first off, ask a friend for help moving it inside and into your bedroom. This box is quite heavy. You don't want to strain or hurt yourself. Then open up the top of the box, take out your rolled up mattress and place it on the frame or foundation, then slowly carefully cut the layers of plastic

Tuft And Needle Mattress Review - A Comfortable Value Mattress??? (UPDATED!)

My husband and I had a 7yr old memory foam mattress of unknown quality (bought randomly at store in our rural town, didn't know anything about mattresses at the time) we recently got rid of and got a Tuft& Needle Original without doing any mattress research. I had no idea about the "world of mattress" until after ordering the T&N

-We like a responsive foam that you can change positions without getting stuck in mattress, but also want to be cradled a bit... So some sink in is good

  TLDR: So-so comfort, too hot for us. Just okay.  Like many folks, I did my fair share of research prior to purchasing a new mattress. The thousands of positive reviews convinced us to give this mattress a try, plus I was impressed by the reported excellent customer service and ability to return it if it didn't work for us

SECOND UPDATE: The topper described in the first update was helpful, and added additional comfort and cushion. We're very thankful for the extraordinary customer service- truly the best we've ever experienced. The comfort level is much better, and we're keeping the mattress. It does sleep hot for me, but has been a solid, comfortable update to our old foam mattress

 If it was just a little more padded, we would try and make it work!  I'll post further if we have any issues with the return.

 The topper is on its way, and this update (adding one star) is for outstanding customer service and genuine assistance in a day when that just doesn't happen anymore. I'll update again after trying the topper with the mattress.  TLDR: So-so comfort, too hot for us. Just okay
