I’m currently sleeping on the 25+ year old mattress that I was conceived on. As you can imagine I’m very excited to graduate from this one for multiple reasons. 

After trying out a handful of different mattresses and understanding the ridiculous prices of some, I’ve come to the conclusions that 1) I prefer a medium/firm bed, and 2) I’m poor. I visited IKEA today and found the $500 Heston mattress (queen size). Curious if anyone has any experience with it, how it holds up, or any advice whatsoever. Thanks in advance!

my mother has severe spinal stenosis (several discs have broken down, she's had rods and screws installed with little benefit, as well as a torn glute repair. take care of your spines, kids.) she's 56, ~155, and sleeps on her back, prefers med-firm or firm. her gentleman companion says he's comfortable on whatever. while they were moving in together I bought them a zinus, warning them that it would break down fairly quickly and need to be replaced, and that it would be a pain when it did. the time has come.

she's up every night in serious pain, and sometimes doesn't bother trying to sleep at all. her job is very difficult and both emotionally and physically demanding, especially during covid. I don't feel like I can waste her time with a bunch of returns or DIYing something, though the zippered mattresses with layers seem doable.

she's willing to spend up to $3500 and is interested in latex or a latex hybrid for its lifespan. I'd like to avoid memory foam and memory foam hybrids because if the next mattress sags within five years I'm going to turn into the Joker.

currently looking at the Alexander nest hybrid or an Ikea hesstun mattress+good latex topper, since we live fairly close to an Ikea and a return would plausibly be easier than dealing with a mattress company.
can anyone point me in the right direction, or confirm my instincts?

I am moving out of my childhood home and into my own apartment and I have some cash saved up and am looking to splurge on a nice mattress.

I’m in my early twenties, 6’1, 150 pound lanky dude who sits all day for work. I have poor posture and my back usually hurts from sitting all day. 

I’m mostly a side sleeper (and also end up on my stomach a fair amount). I do get hot when I sleep. 

Obviously, I prefer paying as little as possible but I don’t mind splurging up to $4000 if the mattress is worth it.

I was getting a lot of ads from Purple and eyed their 4inch premium hybrid for $3k. I had really high hopes and was excited so I went to Mattress Firm to try it out and...it was extremely disappointing.

I then tried a bunch of other mattress and I don’t really know what I was looking for. Like I understand the whole idea of pressure points and wanting to “hug” your sides but for basically all the mattresses I tried, I felt they were comfortable and “okay”. I was pretty indifferent. Nothing blew me away. Nothing felt like “the one”

The one mattress I liked more than the others was the tempurpedic pro adapt medium hybrid which runs for 3k. I also really liked one of the intellibeds but they are far too expensive at 6k.

I am currently sleeping on the Amazon #1 choice “Zinus 12 green tea memory foam” at home which actually felt more comfortable than most of the expensive mattress I tried in the store. I just sometimes wake up with back-pain. 

The only realistic option for me right now is the pro adapt medium hybrid. But I’m hesitant to spend that much money on a mattress as I’m not excited about it. Maybe I’m naive but I was expecting to be blown away by some of the more expensive mattresses. I don’t mind splurging if the mattress is “the one” but if I can’t find the one then should I just get a cheaper &lt; $1000?

The other issue is that I can’t figure out what I want? I like softer mattress where I kinda sink in but I also like firmer mattresses, it’s not really clear to me.


Side node: Also looking to get really nice linen and sheets and comforter (the whole 9 yards really) any accessories so if you have recommendations please suggest.

$4000 budget for new mattress. What do I get?

 So if you're in the market for a base that Stearns makes or any other manufacturer on our website, this is going to work just fine. Sleeping edge to edge is not a problem. You can sleep all the way to the edge and not feel like you're gonna roll off the side and not feel like you're forced back towards the center thanks to the top of the line precision Edge system which is a dual row of extra thick coils that keeps comfort consistent.
