I’m currently sleeping on the 25+ year old mattress that I was conceived on. As you can imagine I’m very excited to graduate from this one for multiple reasons. 

After trying out a handful of different mattresses and understanding the ridiculous prices of some, I’ve come to the conclusions that 1) I prefer a medium/firm bed, and 2) I’m poor. I visited IKEA today and found the $500 Heston mattress (queen size). Curious if anyone has any experience with it, how it holds up, or any advice whatsoever. Thanks in advance!

<p>Edit: I’m a 5’8” 160 lb male, and I’ll be sleeping in this mattress with my wonderful and tiny 5’0 girlfriend. We tend to sleep on our sides and stomachs.</p>

my mother has severe spinal stenosis (several discs have broken down, she's had rods and screws installed with little benefit, as well as a torn glute repair. take care of your spines, kids.) she's 56, ~155, and sleeps on her back, prefers med-firm or firm. her gentleman companion says he's comfortable on whatever. while they were moving in together I bought them a zinus, warning them that it would break down fairly quickly and need to be replaced, and that it would be a pain when it did. the time has come.

she's up every night in serious pain, and sometimes doesn't bother trying to sleep at all. her job is very difficult and both emotionally and physically demanding, especially during covid. I don't feel like I can waste her time with a bunch of returns or DIYing something, though the zippered mattresses with layers seem doable.

she's willing to spend up to $3500 and is interested in latex or a latex hybrid for its lifespan. I'd like to avoid memory foam and memory foam hybrids because if the next mattress sags within five years I'm going to turn into the Joker.

currently looking at the Alexander nest hybrid or an Ikea hesstun mattress+good latex topper, since we live fairly close to an Ikea and a return would plausibly be easier than dealing with a mattress company.
can anyone point me in the right direction, or confirm my instincts?

\-I have determined that a latex hybrid would be best for me: firm enough core that I won't sink in, materials that won't trap heat, and soft enough on top that my knees won't hurt (I don't mind supplementing with a topper if need be).

\-I guess the main thing I'm undecided about is how firm/soft I actually want it, partly because I'm "supposed" to want it softer as a smaller person. And in the store, the medium versions of the same beds felt fine to me too. I'm leaning towards the SleepEZ because it has two comfort options, but based on reviews I wonder if the firm will even be firm enough for me. Do I need to just bite the bullet?

\-the local stores seem to sell either S brands or all latex. The ones that felt best to me were Beautyrest PressureSmart firm, Sealy Posturepedic Beech Street cushion firm, and Serta Perfect Sleeper firm.

We're both side sleepers and my partner gets hot with lower back problems. I have to get something else. If I return this bed I'm out at least $300. If I exchange for a different one I'm out maybe $100

Instead of getting better as it broke in it got much worse. The store model was great but the bed I received is the worst bed I have ever laid on. I bought a Stearns & Foster Estate Rockwell Luxury Plush from Mattress Firm after trying it in store because the previous bed was pushing 10. This new bed is the worst sleep I've gotten in my life. I've looked around at hundreds of mattresses online but everything with good reviews is “not available to try in store”. Do I take the loss of restocking fees and get a Saatva, Avocado, or Casper or try to get them to negate the fees and switch for a well rated mattress they only sell online? The Purple Hybrid 3 was okay but the price is a bit much for how long it sounds like they last. This is what I've narrowed it down to.

 I had changed the firmness of the mattress during the middle for the trial, I contacted the company and they had no issues resending a firmer mattress as long as I was covering the price difference. The quality is not Casper, it is way better.  ✅I hope you’ve found the information and my review helpful.✅

No More Back Pain!

The big manufacturers are often looked down upon here for various reasons. However, I just stayed at a Marriott hotel that had a Serta perfect sleeper Corporate Suite II mattress, and for many months I actually slept really well. The mattress was comfortable; I really liked it.

  What I can tell you is that I easily fell asleep and stayed that way for longer than you are supposed to for an afternoon nap.  To me, it is comfortable, firm; indeed, "medium" firm.  3 days a week Misses Shops too much has a very early work shift and gets up a 3:45am.  On those days she sleeps in the guest room

 Born shopper, what can I say.  Before mattresses, I also used to sell shoes.  There was a saying in selling both mattresses and shoes, and that was:  You spend 1/3 of your life in bed and 1/3 of your life in your shoes, so get good shoes and a good bed (mattress).  I hope this review has enabled you to make an informed purchase decision

  Her thoughts having slept on this for full nights are that it is comfortable, but she does change position a few or more times per night; that is not unusual for her; she does so on every bed we've ever had.  For me, Mister Shops Too Much, who could also be known as Mister Frugal, and a with the history of selling mattresses, I'm always on the search for the best value (in all things) quality, price, features.  While I recognize the name, if I were not receiving this as a Vine reviewer, I would do a more exhaustive search/shop, when buying a mattress.  I think the price point for this is a bit high and based more on the name (Serta) and all of their marketing and advertising, not necessarily because it is the best mattress you can get for $629

I’m 170 lbs, 5’5”. I sleep on my side almost always and I tend to sleep near the edges. I’ve got some shoulder pain that I also need to address. The kicker is that I’m also going to be occasionally sharing this mattress with my girlfriend when she comes down to visit, which is usually 2-3 weeks at a time

I’ve discovered that I like a somewhat softer mattress (the BB one was too firm but I bought it sight unseen when I was in a desperate phase of my life) when I was testing out mattresses at Mattress Firm. The expert there recommended the Serta Perfect Sleeper Charlotte, which is well within my budget, currently at $500 with delivery. Plus, I liked what I felt of it.
