• My biggest complaint, which only applies to the Trango 2, is that the interior height/clearance is just WAY too low for anyone of large stature to use. I am 6’-2” and nearly 200 pounds. I CANNOT sit up ANYWHERE in the tent without my head poking through the ceiling. The peak interior height of the Trango 2 is listed and measured as 38”

• The dimensions of the Trango are fine, but the length is measured at the corners and the middle of the tent tends to come in a bit and be somewhat shorter, especially when not staked out. For example, the length of the Trangos is specified to be 92”. But I measure between 83” and 88” in the middle.

• Love the two door entries, which is common and standard amongst many expedition tents.

Stay away from Mountain Hardwear. They used to be great kit but, after Columbia bought them out their quality has went down ever since. Now they are just department store garbage like Columbia. I wouldn't even consider them anymore personally

I’ve never owned a UL tent before.  I have lugged around a bombproof, leakproof, heavy as a brick Northface Talus 3 for years since I couldn’t afford to replace it.  I just purchased a Mountain Hardware Strato UL 2 tent on sale and took it on its maiden trip to the Sierras last week.  Somehow managed to time the trip right when a storm was moving in and it rained every afternoon/night for the whole trip.  The first night the tent was fine.  Second night, the corners of the cross pole began dripping water onto the interior mesh.  It ran down the sides and wasn’t too bad.  Third and fourth nights, the corners kept dripping and then the rain fly began dripping and our sleeping bags got wet.  After being in a 3 persons tent for so long, a 2 person one felt tight and we were right up against the walls of the tent which made it easier to get wet.  My question is: is this normal?  Should I reseal it even though it’s essentially brand new, or return it for something else?  I appreciate any thoughts you all might have.

Leaky brand new tent

 Tent was from 2006, but had been used maybe 15 nights and always stored dry, indoors. They won't even sell me a new fly.

 I don't think I'm unreasonable in warranty expectations, so when I sent in my lightly-used MH Trango 2 fly for massive sealant delamination (check out the photos) I figured they'd hook me up. No--zero communication, just got it back with a note saying beyond product life. Tent was from 2006, but had been used maybe 15 nights and always stored dry, indoors. They won't even sell me a new fly

Mountain Hardwear warranty is a lie

It's got tons of pockets which is great for drying and organizing while it in for days on end. it's super roomy for a 2 person and fits the large double Exped Megapad which my other 2 person does not.

Sure it's heavy for a 2 person tent, but sometimes comfort and knowing that you have a comfortable and dry place to come back to just worth the effort

Bombproof and Great All Rounder

My only critical feedback is that the thing is really heavy and really bulky. Mostly due to the fabric and not the other components. Hauling it up the mountain is arduous at best and I normally have to split the thing into components and share the load amongst my crew. If you're looking for alpine fast and light, then you'd want to skip this tent and go with a bivy or something even more minimalist

 If you know that you are going to hit wind or cold, this tent is a sure bet; that's why they call it four season- if it won't be cold or wet overnight the body and poles aren't anything to worry about between two people and you can always do the fly/poles/footprint too. Thanks, and good to see MH is still making this design.
