 I really like the way the audio speakers sit away from my ear; it's gives you great, immersive sound without covering your ear completely, making you blind AND deaf to your surroundings. Head tracking seems just the tiniest bit laggy compared to a base station setup, but definitely tolerable (my graphics card is an RTX 2060).<br><br>Overall I'd recommend this headset for a good, "true" mid-range PCVR experience.</span>

A nice "upgrade" from the Oculus Rift, but with some notable software issues

In ACC, a far more visually demanding game, I had to make some drastic changes, dropping detail down to the minimum and even then reducing it to only 10 visible cars. I lowered the game's effective rendering resolution, too, all just to get a solid 90fps.

The biggest issue, though, is resolution. 4K gaming monitors are commonplace these days, offering somewhere in the neighborhood of 3,840x2,160 pixels. The Oculus Rift S, the most common VR headset used in simming today, offers just 2,560x1,440 pixels. That's roughly a 23% reduction on the surface, but the reality is even worse

Most of you won't have an issue, but if your head is on the large or small size, it's definitely something to consider.

I thought it'd take me a little while to spot the difference in the G2's resolution, that maybe I'd have to run a few practice sessions on a few different tracks before I'd really feel the improvement.

HP's Reverb G2 is the ultimate headset for sim racing in VR

 The headset uses two 2.89-inch LCDs with a resolution of 2,160 by 2,160 pixels per eye. The only two headsets that come close to this are the HTC Vive Pro and the Oculus Quest, which display 1,600-by-1,400 images to each eye.

 Unfortunately, the museum is reproduced with such low-quality assets and shoddy coding that it's nearly worthless. The layout of the museum is recreated with very simple geometry and textures, making it feel like a Second Life environment. Crowd sounds abruptly start and stop as you move around, breaking all immersion. Some of the assets of the individual exhibits are too blurry to read, or flicker because of poorly defined geometry

This is a part where Windows Mixed Reality falters next to both SteamVR and Oculus. To start, setting up boundaries on the Quest and Rift S with Oculus' new Guardian system is much simpler and faster, letting you simply point a controller at the floor and draw the space around you without walking. But even when it's set up, Windows Mixed Reality is simply less effective than the Guardian system. When you get close to the edge of your play area, a thin white wireframe of the boundaries you drew will appear

Brief VIVE Pro 2 Review From Someone Who Owns Many Headsets

Having recently purchased  a Quest 2, it's absolutely infuriating how good this $300 device is. This is coming from someone who has used the Index, HP Reverb G2 and Vive Pro 2. Why can't any of these companies release something that is at least competitive? Index is $1000 with less then stellar visuals, Vive Pro 2 is even more expensive with easily the worst optics of any VR headset I have ever used and the HP Reverb G2 is so frustratingly close to being awesome. It's tracking just kind of kills it in a lot of situations

What is holding back VR right now is the power to run it at 120fps (better framerate means less induced vertigo) so what with the scalpers making it hard to upgrade these days it's a tricky time to get into VR.  So, I've been hanging onto my Vive even though its like seeing everything through a screendoor.  Getting a VR headset with the best image quality is a must (Index is good [controllers are very attractive choice], HP Reverb G2 better visual quality, Pimax is good).

I already have a sim rig and I was just wanting to know if VR makes it much better or not. I have both Assetto Corsa and Project cars 2. As of now, I think those are the only two racing games I would really use the VR on if I got a rift.

Does VR really improve immersion all that much in racing games?

  After spending a few days of troubleshooting and wanting to pull my hair out, I fixed a lot of the issues which ultimately came down to WMR not supporting the newer AMD motherboards with gen4 PCIE. Switching from gen4 to gen3 solved a lot of issues, but some persisted, enough to still frustrate me.  After beating a glitchy HL:Alyx, I boxed my HMD up and sat it in the corner for about 7 months until my buddy got a Quest 2 and wanted to play some games with me. I gave it another shot, why not

 Everything just works now, I don't lose tracking anymore, I don't randomly disconnect anymore, it just works. I was always kind of bothered by the "sweet spot" and pretty low FOV so I ordered a replacement face gasket and pad to get my eyes closer to the screem, and that pretty much solved all that. So needless to say, I'm pretty happy now after a long wait.

  I got my G2 in March of 2021 as a gift from my friends, I picked it for the high per-eye resolution. Been playing video games my whole life and was wanting that "new and exciting" feel I used to get when buying a new game or console. I'm getting a little older and have been with PC for 7 or 8 years now, going from poor hardware to nearly the best you can get. But I was still missing that excitement

Started off rough, becoming much better.

This is where the G2 falls apart. The top strap has a tendency to pluck and catch my hair when adjusting it, and I absolutely hate, beyond words, the velcro straps. Getting it into the correct position on my head is an absolute nightmare, and I have a method of adjusting the fit per eye (I dial in the clarity on my left eye, then I do my right eye) and doing this while the headset is loose on the G2 is impossible, where as on the Index I use my hand to push it against my face, and I use my other hand once my eyes are dialed in to screw it into place. Being able to do this in one motion is crucial, and it's impossible with the G2 as it has three velcro straps for adjustment that require both of your hands, and multiple motions to adjust

 The Index resolution is extremely sharp, and looks phenomenal even though it's not quite as clear as the G2. Going to the G2 feels like a huge step up, but for some odd reason switching back to the Index doesn't feel like a very big step down.

I won't say much here. Obviously the Index has better tracking, but, I actually really like the G2 controllers. If they had finger tracking like the Knuckles, I'd prefer the G2 controllers because of the way they fit my hands, and the better joystick placement. The G2 tracking isn't nearly as bad as some people say it is, and I found myself in shock at how good the inside out tracking was

Quick thoughts: HP Reverb G2 vs. Valve Index.

After I got it, the first game I launched was Pavlov VR. The first thing I noticed was higher contrast and better colors, I played this WW2 map which you probably know if you play Pavlov and the colors were much much better compared to the index, they are a lot more vivid, higher contrast, the blacks are a lot deeper. I love the index but the colors do look washed out. Now I've seen people mentioning that it's due to low brightness, that we don't know exactly because if I lower the brightness on my index, the colors don't become richer

First thing I want to say is about my expectations steeming from previous research done before purchasing it

- You love the index **but** you are willing to have tiny decrease in vFOV and a slightly larger hFOV, much higher resolution AND richer colors.

- You love the HP reverb 2 and valve index **but** want to loose the chains and go wireless without having to buy a Facebook data mining product.

Got my vive pro 2 - My 2 cents. Pretty good so far

-Controllers aren't as comfortable to use as the Oculus controllers I have with my Quest.  The HP ones are very unwieldy.

Conclusion: I don't dislike it but the price doesn't justify its value. Wish HTC would invest in content rather than expensive hardware..

I'm leaning toward the VP2 mainly for the higher resolution. I was curious how watching movies is with Bigscreen or a similar program compared to the Index. Can you tell that the movies look better in a VP2 with it's higher resolution?

When watching movies how does the Vive Pro 2 compare with the Index?

 The Vr3 did a good job with comfort, but the weight was without a doubt the limiting factor. Even though the balancing was good, you could still tell that you are wearing quite a heavy device. The arrow is much lighter than the Vr3 because there is no more hand tracking and no more focus displays. The device is now 300 grams lighter and weighs only around 500 grams
